Chill Day: A full day of splitboarding some classic lines in the Mount Baker Backcountry

- Come take some splitboard turns with me in the incomparable Mount Baker Backcountry. During this full day I covered 6 runs and nearly 6,000' of vertical.
As November rain turned to December pow we went from bone town to wallowing in deep maritime blower. Deep snow immersion, face shots, chasing good visibility and tracking snowpack and avalanche conditions allow days like this.
Hard work, reading the weather and avalanche forecast everyday, taking it easy during level 3 (considerable) and up avalanche danger ratings and being patient for storms to end, the snowpack to adjust, and my fitness to align grants amazing days like this.
Put in the work, be patient, and enjoy a great season of backcountry riding.

Awsome view!!! Love seeing the deep snow cover the trees like that
We get around 700" of snow each winter so its DEEEEP!
Nice clips JB! Happy New Year!
Thanks dude! Hope your well and look forward to getting out for a rip sometime.
6 splitboard laps?! Damn you put some work in that day!
Sometimes it comes easy, but definitely was a culmination of years of riding the zone
Awesome. Been searching for a guide for some tours up there and AIARE 2 split course. Will be in contact shortly!
Great! We have space on a AIARE 2 at the end of January.
Yo dude. Why no helmet? I almost never wear mine. Neither do most of my OG rider friends that I trust immensely. No troll, just interested. I’ve been riding since before helmets were a thing, so it’s habit. I ride motorcycles and would never ever get on a bike without a helmet.
