Hi Matt. FYI, That pitting WILL gradually turn back into rust in a couple of years, even after you've converted it with the best converter on the market (Dinitrol RC900). It is absolutely essential that you treat it with cavity wax after conversion. Choose any clear, beige, brown or any viscosity of Dinitrol cavity wax. ML, for example, is perfect for that application.

Well done I have a VR5 and need to do the same job, thank God for your sensible and easy approach, I'll be copying. If it's any help the little hoses for the fuel evaporative system get new ones and install them I recently did mine and fuel economy has massively improved from one point one litres per hour at idle hot to point seven let alone storming up a favorite hill was 13point 5 LP100k down to 10 at same speed n throttle. I had the dampener pulley replaced with my belt and the aftermarket pulley was ready to swap again with my belt about 40k later. Friends pulley lasted 20k. When they're bad they make the whole engine shake at speed and that jolting and jerking at start up, idle and switch off that you look like you're getting too. Not advice, just own experience. Thanks for taking us through doing the power steering pump Twiggs 👍🏻

Hey man. Great content. Im an office wanker but gonna try do a few jobs myself since you have given me some confidence! Gonna start with egr clean and this IC clean as shown here. Just wondering, if you done it again today would you use petrol? If so, roughly how much did you use? If not petrol, what would you use? Bonus question. Best product for cleaning out the EGR once removed? I think i can do this!

Mine does this. I had the cambelt changed and all of the tensioners as well but alas it's still happening. Very irritating noise it I do say so. I lot of people are saying the crank pulley dampener on here. Are you going to change this?

Is there a clutch pulley on the alternator. If so is it seized.

Looks like that cambelt has rubbed through the metal plate .

My T5 was the alternator pulley…it makes the tensioner bounce and vibrate. And at full lock steering sqeal

Like most have said it could be the dampener in the crank pulley. It's basically a rubber ring which deteriorates and causes vibration on the crank pulley. Absolute worst case scenario is the crank pulley separates and can screw the timing belt. Common on these I believe.

just had my cambelt/waterpump/fuel pump done vw connections truro while i was on holiday .they said my aux belt tensioner needs doing .anyone up for it i’m in cheshire.😊i had a look today got as far as lowering engine down top mount bolts undone belt off but driveshaft was resting on suspension arm .

I have this problem and I also suspected the power steering pump but I replaced the idler and tensioner first, which improved things a lot but it's still there on start up shut down. Tbh I was hoping you were going to fix this with issue by replacing the power steering pump because because that was my next job. As that didn't fix yours, my plan B will be the harmonic balancer. If you do it i'll be interested in seeing how you get on undoing that big nut. That kind of puts me off.

Does the bottom pulley have a woodruff key? Looks like the pulley is going slower than the engine is idling..... Like the pulley is slipping or is it just my eyes 🤔 great video. Keep em coming 😃

Mine was like that, the harmonic damper, sounded like bottom end at times

Maybe try changing the tensioner buddy. You’re right about the postage costs as they can soon mount up 😔

I'd look at the The Harmonic balancer. (Crank pulley). Look at the serpentine belt when you started her up.
