- The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) is a gaming laptop that is not only incredibly sleek and well made, but it is powerful too!
It seems like the perfect combination, however there is one very familiar issue...

thank you!! finally a decent touchpad quick review for this ❤ omgosh been wanting to know how it feels for a while now, thank you again!
Is the charging port not reversable? Other reviews seem to say otherwise
After some more research, it does appear to be reversible, so I do apologise about that mistake
Is there a noticeable difference between the g14 being 1800p and the g16 display being 1600 (and bigger)? I'd think the bigger display and decrease in resolution would be noticeable?
thank you for mentioning that some of them come with ips panels, because I have seen too many youtubers everyone sais that all 2024 models come with oled screen and nobody mentioned this! so before buing a model I have to check for the specs in asus rog site...
I wouldn’t recommend this laptop for gaming. I bought one of these and returned it for the g18 rog strix. The g16 is a lightweight gaming machine and cannot handle heavy intensive gaming at a high setting and fps even with the 4090.
Quick thing. The battery life issue, i dont find that to be an issue. Having just gotten this laptop with a ultra 9 and 4080 config, just today alone, I got just over 7.3 hours with it. I watched a bunch of youtube videos, did some notion stuff and some typical browsing. Install g helper, get rid of armory crate and kill you start up apps. Run it on eco mode when on battery the intel intergrated graphics is more than good enough for most normal tasks while on battery.
Also, in helper, set your refresh rate to auto
My Zephyrus G16 2024 has 30 fps while moving the file window. I did set 240hz. Not working. Battery energy set to off. Still not working smooth 240hz.
Umm, that is weird, but that’s not what I saw here. Did you update the drivers tot heir latest versions?
Yay another aussie tech youtuber I found Jarrod'sTech a few years ago. Glad I found you now. I wished base confg was 32gb of ram and then 64gb for 4080 and 96gb for 4090 f only... subbed and liked. I'm hoping Australia gets the 4090 in platinum white I hope. Otherwise I will have to import it because I am suck of black/dark coloured laptops showing fingerprints.i
Love Jarrod’sTech, met him at PAX last year! And yes, the many configurations did confuse me a little while making this video. While I haven’t tested the higher specified versions, I would worry about thermal throttling in a body this slim
@@DavisFangTech 4060 & 4070 comes with "normal" cooling, 4080 comes with a vapor chamber, and 4090 has a vapor chamber + liquid metal if i remember correctly.
Totally rubbish Asus service, £1200 phone for gaming it is unusable after the Android 14.
Sorry, haven’t tested the ROG phones!
What is your model number for the IPS display version?
Can you do a video on the Zephyrus vs Swift Edge 16 Laptop - SFA16-41-R6YS ... thank you
0:39 I just got the hugest wave of nostalgia, that's the exact same laptop I had when I was a teen aha
I remember that my dad practically spent all our savings on the thing ahaha. It was great at Test Drive Unlimited if I recall!
@@DavisFangTechDo you have any old or unused gadgets you could send me, Davis?
It's ok buddy. It's not the smile. Open the eyes a bit. I too have tiny eyes.
How do you change colours on keyboard?? I’ve got the 4070 ultra 9 and tried everything to get different colours but only getting white backlight
It’s now under the windows settings rather than the ROG app
did you manage to change the colour ?
@@DavisFangTech the aura sync is not working now
I'm waiting for the OLED version, costs more but if I'm going to pay that much anyway, might as well invest just a bit more.
@DavidFangTech have you tried to optimise the laptop? Because people say that they can get 10 hours out of it sure you might have to gimp performance but if you want battery life then some optimisations are necessary?
Yes, I did try to use all the battery saving tips, but even so I got rather disappointing performance.
0:12 No, I AM the smoothest and most attractive! Also extremely humble. 🤣
Ahaha, I’m sure you are!
What is better between this and the msi GF63 thin i7 12650 4060??
Great video. Got this laptop for myself. Wat a machine indeed.
I have seen you review a lot of laptops and you do seem to like this one a lot! Bad battery life is annoying but I like it because it lights up (which probably drains the battery).
🥰🥰🥰
Great video, I’m considering the laptop but with the higher specs. In terms of battery, how does this compare to other laptops with similar spec like the xps16 or yoga pro 9i would you say?
@@filipdabrowski269 I would say that this is slightly worse, but kind of in the same ballpark. I did forget to mention that the 240hz kills the battery. When set to 60hz, you can see an extra 90 min of battery or so, in which case is similar
@@filipdabrowski269 If u care so much about battery go AMD man they are much more efficient and don't have those shitty P-E cores.
Hi, I'm an animator student and would like to know if Asus ROG Zephyrus is better than ROG strix in general
The strix is aimed to deliver the best performance while the Zephyrus is more design led.
during your battery test did you turn off the keyboard backlight? what refresh rate did you use? 60hz or 240hz?
I defaulted to 240hz, but I accidentally forgot to mention that in 60hz, you can get an extra 60-90 min of battery
ips… isn’t it oled?
There are both options!
@@DavisFangTech thank you I just bought the i9 4090 the ASUS web site is not good to navigate lol
Lenovo is far more better option
Im happy with my 2022 ga14 6700's on 2tb & 40gb
how about the thermals on this?
haha i had that dell xps 17, the power adapter was heavier than these days laptops :) dual video cards on a laptop!
im planning getting one, is 4k recommended
@@hung5398 i think you misunderstood me, i meant i had the xps from 2007, no 4k back then :) but yeah definitely get the 4k now, it's needed for a screen that size
Why don't you talk about the wobbly screen? 😂
I didn't find it to be wobbly
I think it might be different because he mentioned how the version he had was slightly different due to living in Australia so maybe the build quality is a little better
How many hours of battery life do you get on a single charge on average ?
Probably around 4
@@DavisFangTech thats bad as I work remotely 8 hours per day and wouldn't be able to work with this one from coffee shops of nature.
I'm thinking about Macbook Air M2 15 which has up to 18 hours of battery life.
Is there any other windows laptop with good battery life that you can recommend?
@@SpireskiTabI get around 9 hours on my g14 OLED, which I assume this one would be better. It depends on what you’re doing. For just emails and web browsing, you’ll get around the same as me I assume. Def needs some tweaking tho!
What is the model #? TY
what about the SSD is it upgradable?
Yes it is
What about fan noise??
It’s fairly quiet normally, but can get quite loud when you’re pushing the computer
TLDR: OMG OMG OMG
OMG!
it has IPS models? thats nice. taking care of OLED is more of a pain than IPS.
But it's worth the significant increase in quality.
I agree
What is there to take care of? Should I get a screen protector? Clean it often?
msi titan gt77 review please ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’ll see if they’ll lend me one ahaha
Can. It. Linux.
Do we care? Linux desktop is so 2005. Put your penguin retro os on VMware and be done with it.
I got the 4080 variant, when i start playing games and put it on my lap (especially high demanding games like baldurs gate 3) , the laptop burns my legs, but REALLY burns.. and I had gaming laptops before, but this one spreads strong heat all over the back at the bottom.
Did u encounter this as well?
Bro, it’s a thin gaming laptop, what did you expect? They are all like that.
Too costly bro. Middle class family cant afford. I just booked a lenovo.
Sucks to suck! I’m middle class and I absolutely can afford this and I have a family and kids
@@CCthekink123I am never going to afford anything like this. And I'm middle class where I live.
@@vdhazer I’m empathetic towards that for sure but you can move or get a better job or find somewhere that gives you money towards a laptop for work. If you can’t ever spend 3k on something you might want to reconsider your situation and what you’re aiming at because the average new car is 48k and the average mortgage is 2100$/month. If you can’t buy those things you’re probably not middle class…
Like I realize that peoples situations are all different but fuck that go become someone so valuable that you can ask for whatever wage you want. It will be hard as fuck but people do it all the time. I remember stealing fruit from the grocery store to eat 12 years ago and now this is an impulse buy for me. I know it can be done. Never say never.
FYI In speaking strictly for the United States. We’re externally lucky and lost a lot of good men and women for what we have today.
It’s very similar price to the equivalent Lenovo?
@@DavisFangTech yes.. it’s about the same or less than everything in the same class.
I think people need to do this justice. I ordered mine with 4080 primarily to work (coding, web development and general office magic) and the ability to game in the evening is an amazing add on. I love that it does not scream “gamer” but is very subtle and I can bring it to any business meeting without being “that guy” 😂😂😂
I love that gaming laptops don’t have to look like gaming laptops anymore!
What about the fan noise?
Fan noise is not that loud it didn’t disturb me.
Finally an honest review on this piece of trash. Its good, no question, but not that good as alot of youtubers say. Low res display, not that bright, poor battery life, performance is so and so...wait for the lenovo yoga pro 9i. Asus was lazy. Keep up the good work.
It’s not quite as mad as you describe, but expectations need to be kept in check ahaha
Sounds like you're broke
@@3rdvoidmen594 sound like you are stupid to buy things that dont worth the money. Good for you. Thats what poor people say and do. Good luck bozo.
You call it a piece of trash but also good no question. Poor consistency in your criticism.
@@3rdvoidmen594 buy it bc its amazing
