Sooo, after watching this this video I’ve now decided to build the HB that’s been sat in its box for the past year. I am surprised at how your video makes it look well controlled though standard shocks are installed. Thanks for the top class video
RC Tanks & Trucks 24/7 Thanks a lot for your compliment! It's not easy to keep the level high, but when we try our best it's good! And the most important thing is to have fun with!
hi matteo I have seen most of your videos and think your number 1 at it. I have got back into vintage rc cars again and just picked up a vintage holiday buggy! they bring back so many good memories. I've kept my collection to 6 car's. I've two sand scorchers rough rider. lunchbox. brat and holiday bug. keep on buggying!!! look forward to more of your videos!!
Hey man. You make the beat RC videos, love all your rerelease videos. Tamiya should use then! Awesome work and great to see these being used. Keep up the inspiring work.
Best Holiday Buggy video ever!!!!!!! Only 4mods' "Holiday Buggy rocks loco!" comes close. Those Carson tires & wheels make it look so badass!! Your other videos are awesome too. Please, please, please do videos of Monster Beetle (re-release due later this year ☺), Nova Fox, Super Hotshot, Clod Buster, and Frog. The challenge has been made😉
What a great video. I had *countless* hours of fun with my original Holiday Buggy in the early 80s. Presume this new one is fully sealed - a trip in the water like you did would have killed my one instantly :O
I also have the old version, now updated with an ESC and LiPo battery but otherwise all the original parts. Not much in common with the remake. This new version is much faster and better handling.
Definitively a great video. Makes me want to buy one also. I was wondering about the water footage. The vehicle from what I understand is not waterproof. Doesn't it risk to short the electric motor or ESC or the servo? Did you make some modifications?
Hey there, great videos, all of em!!! Your vids have encourage me to get either the holiday buggy or the sand rover. I cant decide between these two, can you share some of your thoughts? which one is better;handling, rough use, fun. CheerS!
You better ask tamiya for sales commission, coz this vid makes me want to go out and buy a holiday buggy........ Great vid really shows off the car !!!
@Matteomeier I might buy one of these but I have another question, Where do the ball bearings go as I have been told its a good upgrade for my cc-01 however on my TT01D it came with ball bearings so I built them in without realising? Also I have a RS540 sport tuned motor leftover. Would that be a fast enough motor?
@Matteomeier ok thanks! my dad has one of these (the original from like 25 years ago! lol) but I think all the electronics are shot :/ I was thinking of getting my own now as they are quite a cheap kit to buy :) any upgrades needed or not? My dads has new tyres and a black can motor
thanks, this was my first rc, except I'm got the red one, I love it, but I only drive it on the pavement, I will make a vid about mine soon, after christmas, when i get the black can motor on it
Hi there, Love your videos. I finally gotten myself the Tamiya Holiday Buggy , you inspired me. I want to make my car fun to play exactly like yours. I bought the sports tune motor with 18T pinion. I'm building the kit soon, but before that, may i know what servo do you use and what brand&model of your radio. Hope you don't mind sharing. Wishing you happy new year! cheerS!
Dets6 Congrats to your new buggy! I use the Futaba 4PL, 4 channel radio. www.futaba-rc.com/systems/futk1410-4pls/index.html It offers a lot of good functions for all my models. And as servo, in last time I use waterproof servos, to get no problems in water. It's from hittec. hitecrcd.com/products/servos/waterproof-servos-2/hs-646wp-high-voltage-high-torque-analog-waterproof-servo/product
Yes, this is cool! I like this stock class racing categories. The fun is in the right focus there. Not this over engineered high tech classes. Thanks for your fine feedback!
First off, thanks Matteo for another great RC video, and the link to purchase these awesome tires. Just ordered them and they do send outside Germany. Was in the same mindset as you DustyFingers, considering a purchas, after watching this video and managing to accuire these same wheels it's a must have. Hope you still enjoy your Holiday Buggy, know I will once assembled. Cheers, Matteo fan in Norway ;-)
Hello Matteo ,I have a holiday buggy and I've noticed there is some play in the suspension arms , especially in the front.Could it be why it's difficult the trim the steering perfectly ? (there's also a little play in the stock servo saver).
Fantastic car and beatiful video, I'll buy a HB very soon so I ask you what Kind of 17t pinion gear have you used and what module and if you may tell the product code of the motor plate. Tnx very much, ciao (italiano, vero?)
Thinking about getting one of these so build and use with my 5 year old nephew. Have a LandFreeder but I think that is too much for him. Do you think a 5 year old could learn with this or should I go with rising fighter? His garden is bumpy so needs to be able to ride those bumps.
hi looking at this one & the sandrover they both come with 380 motors where would i find the motor mount needed to use a brushed 540 motor ? awesome video by the way thanks have fun RCing
Budget Guy RC You can install a 540 motor without problems. The only thing you need is a 17 tooth pinion gear. Here you can find some informations: www.tamiyausa.com/articles/feature.php?article-id=475#.VZZ65HbSqZQ
Awesome videos~~ I also build my holiday buggy now, and with DT-02 chassis, but I don't like the buggy tires. May I ask you what tires you use for your holiday buggy??
Thank you! The wheels are from Carson Modellsport www.carson-modelsport.com/de/produkte/carson-modelsport/zubehoer/reifenraeder-11085/1-10-reif-felgen-set-all-terrain-schw-500900027/
Minsung Suh Thanks! The tires and wheels are "Buggy Tire Wheel Set All Terrain" from Carson Modelsport. But these are not longer available. I found this new / similar product: www.carson-modelsport.com/de/produkte/zubehoer/reifenfelgenusets110112118/produktdetails.htm?sArtNr=500900134
Hi Matteo, would you ever consider doing a how to video on narrowing the DT02 chassis the match the width of the original holiday buggy. I've been thinking how much better the wheels look actually inside the wheel arch's. Just sorta thinking out loud. 😀
Matteo's RC Movies what's the chances of you doing one properly. Most of the ones I've seen are not very thorough. I know if you do one, it would be done right. You are a very busy guy. Maybe it was wrong of me to ask. Sorry. On another note, would you know the tamiya re release part number of the subaru brat wheels please. I can't find it anywhere. Have you seen the latest tamiya rc releases, the Citroën 2 cv, WOW. the Isuzu mu and the others. Holy guacamole batman,,,,,,,, amazing rc's. I'm gonna be skint from buying these kits. 😀 👍 👍 👍 👍
No, surely not wrong to ask, but you're right I'm very busy and this is not on the top of my to do list. Have you seen this from Tamiya America: www.tamiyausa.com/articles/feature.php?article-id=475#.WniQPa0lx-U Yes, the Citroen and Isuzu are cool! And the Lancia...
those shocks look like their working amazingly, what oil and piston did you use, are they tamiya shocks? seems you spent a good time making them very smooth and plush.
Hai messo gli ammortizzatori anteriori nel verso giusto e non rovesciati come suggerisce il manuale, hai dovuto fare modifiche? La sto costruendo anche io e immagino gli ammo sono i CVA 50519 e 50520
Matteo, I'm observing your bodywork with the decals, did you put that light-blue decal on the rear side of the body, instead of above the front fenders? It looks really great!
I had one in the mid-eighties, I,m sure the poor little bloke who was sitting in the driving seat had a terrified look on his face every time I disconnected the quick charger, it met it,s end under a local no 87 bus due to a cack handed mate.
Watching this in 2023, you've got a timeless style Mateo. Classic stuff 👍👍
It's a cold and foggy morning here in Stockholm, but watching this video again made my morning. This is pure rear wheel joy, thanks Matteo.
Glad to hear this! Thanks Tomas! 😊👍
Sooo, after watching this this video I’ve now decided to build the HB that’s been sat in its box for the past year.
I am surprised at how your video makes it look well controlled though standard shocks are installed.

This is the best video of the Tamiya Holiday Buggy. You literally sold me on this and the Tamiya Sand Rover.
Wish my DT-02 handled that well.
Great video as always.
Great looking kit plus looks realistic. Your videos are always top quality and something that I wish to emulate in my videos man
RC Tanks & Trucks 24/7 Thanks a lot for your compliment! It's not easy to keep the level high, but when we try our best it's good! And the most important thing is to have fun with!

Great video footage. I love this buggy and been hovering over the buy it button. What wheels do you have on this? It improves the looks further.
Thank you! The wheels are from Carson, a german manufacturer, I don't know if they are available worldwide...

Thanks! 👍😊😊
What tyres/wheels did you use on this holiday buggy as they look different to the stock ones?
Thinking about getting one of these so build and use with my 5 year old nephew. Have a LandFreeder but I think that is too much for him. Do you think a 5 year old could learn with this or should I go with rising fighter?
His garden is bumpy so needs to be able to ride those bumps.
Yes, this one is a good RC car for beginners! 👍😊

hello are you using a 380 or a 540 motor? plz respond
HI again! What would they be in your opinion the best and the medium best hop ups for the HB?
My opinion:
1. 540 motor, or another better one.
2. CVA oil shocks
3. Ball bearings
Have you done any other upgrades?
I love it
Thanks Alex!
Without reading the whole coments list, may I ask what wheels / tires are these? They fit right onto the original wheel socket?
No problem, they fit on the original sockets.
tamico.de/Carson-Reifen-Felgen-Set-All-Terrain-schwarz-DT-01-DT-02-DT-03
Thank you.
Matteo's RC Movies Answered my question! Thanks!! 😁 👍 👍 That's my next build.
those shocks look like their working amazingly, what oil and piston did you use, are they tamiya shocks? seems you spent a good time making them very smooth and plush.
Those are Tamiya CVA oil shocks, filled with soft silicone oil (included)
Very nice vid bro!!!
Thanks Marco! 👍😊
Really Cool Vid :)
