    Thanks for watching guys! Was so darn hot that day. We had to dip the Go Pros in the pool a few times...lol.

    I have just purchased a re-re Holiday Buggy for my Daughter and I to play with when we are out walking the dog (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!). I have a 540 Sport Tuned motor and a couple of 3600 Nimh's to provide the juice. This is also a nostalgia trip for me as my Dad bought me the original back in the early 80's, so some 40 years ago. All arriving this week, so hoping to have it all together at the weekend. Thanks for the videos. They are a great watch.

      I like this excuse! It's a fun build and should be pretty zippy with that motor for sure. Enjoy the build my friend! Thanks as well...much appreciated.

    I had an original Holiday buggy, back in 82 for Christmas. I loved it and ran it until the rear tyres were bald. I now have 10 rc’s, a mixture of Tamiya and Kyosho. I think your right about the re release Holiday buggy, it really isn’t the same as the original. Love the track in the back garden, wish my wife would let me do the same.

      Thanks friend. Appreciate the story and comment. Once the kid was involved...I got the green light from the boss...haha.

    I'd say the Holiday Buggy is vintage-alike. It takes a lot of inspiration from vintage RC models but utilizes more modern tech to make a car that has that vintage feel to it but with modern durability and capabilities. I wouldn't let the DT02 Holiday Buggy run in a vintage class race if I ran a club track, though.

  • @Toystheyrenot
    @Toystheyrenot 2 роки тому +2

    The DT02 is definitely a modern chassis.. so I’d agree with your assessment of it. It looks awesome in pink vintage clothing and drives really well around your track.. which looks great btw! Thanks for making this video despite the extreme heat.👏🙌😊

      Thanks and you are welcome! Car drove much better than I anticipated. Did not think it would be as fast as the Frog for sure.

  • @chibiskyrc

    The DT02 is a fantastic buggy. It's durable but easy to work on in case it breaks. I actually like it better than the superior handling DT03 for this reason since the tub chassis allows the car to be more modular than the monocoque chassis of the DT03. I just wish the DT02 would allow for LiPo batteries to fit

      Was very pleasantly surprised. Ran like a dream and can take more h.p. for sure. Thanks for the comment/view friend.

      There are some LiPO batteries that are shaped like stick packs with the round corners that way you can still fit them into tamiya cars. I believe protech has them and Dynamite reaction 2 1800mah 2s. I also believe Reedy has some stick pack shaped ones.

      @@TheMdavis07 Lipo in this car.

    • @dianetmotors
      @dianetmotors Рік тому +1

      I've got a 2s hardcase lipo in my holiday buggy, I'd you cut out those annoying tabs on the ends of the battery tray you can easily fit a 5000 mah lipo in it. Just don't plan on easy battery removal as I had to take of the battery strap to remove it since it takes up every millimeter of the battery tray

    • @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC
      @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC  2 роки тому +1

      Agree...not much of an off roader. Had a runner sand rover years ago... broke quite a few parts on that with just normal driving. Thanks for the view/comment.

  • @2stroke4me
    @2stroke4me 2 роки тому +2

    Some regard the re-releases as not classics, which in my opinion is a bit unfair. They're still classics (with some exceptions) but with some way overdue upgrades they could have had back in the day. They're fun and fascinating to build too.
    Now everyone can buy, build and run a classic without the fear of breaking something as parts are available.
    The Holliday Buggy is a much needed redesign, again, long overdue, without ruining the looks! And it deals with the track like a champ!
    Great to see you back my friend!

      Agree brother. It would have been cool to have an all original rere...but after a few runs it would be in rough shape. Appreciate the comment and view. Hopefully we can squeeze out a few videos before the winter.

    You've done an amazing job with that track, looks perfect in size and layout for vintage 10th scale buggies. Nice to see another bid from you.

    I'm not too surprised it was quicker than the Hornet and Frog since it has better tires and suspension. Your track setup is the perfect shape/size for these buggies...

    I can fully understand how and why they went this direction on these and just gave them the look and a standard 2wd entry level chassis. This is aimed at newer drivers wanting to start out rather than the re-re market.

    • @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC
      @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC  2 роки тому

    I know this is a bit old, but..... you might want to look into doing a "Flame Treatment" on a body like that. Passing a flame over the surface, so I understand anyway, alters the surface of the plastic, improving adhesion of glue and paint. Seen guys that do kit bashing/junk bashing modelling do it for gluing stuff like shampoo bottles together. Give it a google search.

    • @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC
      @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC  8 місяців тому +1

      Actually did the flame deal and you are correct...it absolutely works! I don't think it would have stuck at all if I didn't.
      Appreciate it brother.

      @@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC I know it all to well. I spent an incredible amount of effort on mine to have it peel off the front fenders. I'm inspired by your track! Just bought a house , haven't moved in yet, a track is the first upgrade I'm making.

    The Holiday Buggy did good. I bet it could set a lap record with a stock silver can 540 motor in it. I know it is not Vintage, but the chassis almost is (first released in March 2005). I run a Sand Viper(DT-02) and it is a lot of fun!
