Try Withering Rooms…great indie
Though not from 2024, i can *heartily* recommend Clash: Artifacts of Chaos (made by ACE Team, who also made Zeno Clash and The Eternal Cylinder) as well as Cookie Cutter. I've got Harold Halibut as well.
I'm currently looking forward to Blud, Genokids, Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip, and uh, i guess that's it.
Want to quickly mention No Straight Roads (2020) and Soulstice (2022). They're not from 2024 but it's important to talk about indies in general.

Stellar lineup and it only keeps getting better. Goes to show that we don’t have to conform with the AAA slop of the month trying to rob us blind and have us thank them for it when we have such a wide breath and depth of choices in the indie scene.
2024 is going to go down as one of the greatest years in gaming.

You missed a couple bangers brother: Withering Rooms (excellent horror/soulslike mashup), Turbo Kid (“motorvania” based on the cult classic movie, and Pacific Drive (rogue like driving/adventure sim). Glad you mentioned Another Crabs Treasure…platinum that yesterday 💯
If Silksong is release this year, it'd be over for AAA.
And one easy why so many indies are coming just recently is because we are about fours years after the pandemic, just the right time frame for these games to complete development and start coming out, if anything the releases of more indie games should be going for the next couple of years.
Balatro is super addictive lol. Its also a good way to get better at poker to impress your friends lol.

2 Indie games i finished recently that i really enjoyed were mini shoot adventures, which is a Gradius explorer/metroidvania. Its all about the beeps and boops as you right stick shoot enemies while dodging bullets, can get hectic but not bullshit. Just fun to go around, find and collect everything you can, get new abilities, level them up or down and just making your way to the bosses.
The other is Dream Tactics, kind of a minimalist, party, deck building, tactics game. Basically you play as a human with 2 sprite allies (You find more later but can only use 4 total) in the dream world fighting pillow enemies. Each character gets a deck of 15 cards which can be shared, though each character all have their own mechanics which the cards cater to, but can work with other allies as long as you pay attention to the stat scaling. You do find more cards later and gear that helps makes certain cards function differently, but ultimately the entire point is to use each characters 5 base mp per turn and just combo as many cards on enemies as possible. If you can get past the mini sprite graphics and like tactical games then its addicting as hell to play through.
Corn Kidz 64 is also a good one that released late last year (2023). It's a platformer game with inspiration from classic Nintendo 64 games like Banjo Kazooie. It's a solid and fun platformer for just $7 USD. Only downside is it's rather short.
Mullet madjack is actually crazy good and will give a tough fight to animal well for indie GOTY.

Man.. Crow Country was so good, the day after I beat it, I replayed it to get the s rank and crystal crows. Not even a survival horror fan.

Nice vid. I recommend virtua unlimited project if your craving mega man zero style combat and platforming and god knows when capcom is going to put out a megaman game again outside of a legacy collection. It also works on steam deck

Slave Zero X was awful. Maybe the combo juggling would have worked if the game even taught you how to do it. Hot garbage.
