I am a master plumber. Been plumbing 15 years. I have owned my own plumbing company for 8 years. Last night while 600 miles away from home I ran into this problem on the new toilet I installed at my parents house. I did the same as you, fidgeted with it for 15 minutes before finally googling and YOUR video came up! Thank you thank you thank you!!!! You saved the day. Much appreciated!
7 years after you posted this and you’re still helping people! I fiddled with this thing on my in-laws toilet for a good 20 minutes trying to understand it. Thank you. Toilet flushes better than ever now that I got it set on 9 instead of 1... they’ve had this thing set wrong this whole time. Never woulda known had the chain not fallen off! Thanks again for the video.
Thank you! Your video was the ONLY resource I found on the web that actually explains how the thing works. BTW, the clear plastic stiffens with age. No amount of swsqueezing would flex mine. It was pretty obvious that any more pressure would shatter it. I had to use a small screwdriver to pry it off. That worked fine.
Dido I live in California. Low flow mandated. The way it was set up you would have to double - Triple flush the toilet so the next person doesn't get an unwanted present. Thanks a million!
Thanks a lot. I had a 25year old toilet which I replaced with a new toilet . Of course technology has changed a lot. Who would think that a flapper has an adjustment. Yes you need strong fingers to change the setting mine was set at 3 now 10 you are right it flush’s better . Thanks you tube Bob.
Thank you, this tip about the Fluidmaster dial and how to release it was super helpful. Still needed a screwdriver and was not easy to do, but got it released, adjusted and back in the tank.
years after you've posted this, and I can't thank you enough. Just installed an American Standard Edgemere from Lowe's in our guest bathroom and was so disappointed. I was having visions of telling any guests they have to hold the handle down for a second when they flush. Moved it to 10, and perfect now. Googled this and found your video. Just a small thing, but so incredibly helpful. Thanks for taking the time to record this.
Dude I know this video is old but it just saved my ass-- I can't believe that all my toiled needed was this flapper adjustment and you are correct- not easy. I need to improve my grip strength!!
Thank you so much for this video! My newly installed American Standard Edgemere now flushes like a BOSS since I cranked the flapper all the way to a 10! 😎
Great video, very helpful! I just installed (2) Cadet 3 toilets and was having the same partial flushing issue. I found that adjusting the flapper to setting 6 and moving the end of the chain to the highest notch on the flapper (the one furthest to the right) did the trick and they are now flushing correctly without having to hold the handle. Thank you very much for the info!

Mid 2024 and still taking people to school. Thank you

Thank you sir. You saved me from dropping 4 letter words.
Running the bulb under hot water for a few minutes makes it easier to take off.
arthritis in hands , reader glasses on , and your video., done.!.

Yes! Thank You!
9 years later and you just helped me tonight. Thank you!
And even more years later, this video came to the rescue. Well done.
I was fiddling around with this for a while. Finally had to look it up! Thanks for showing us!
I don't know that I would ever have figured out how to make the adjustments without your video. Thank you so much.
