Not just the greatest motorcycle song ever written, the greatest song ever written.
More folks should know about Richard Thompson, one of the greatest singer song writers of all time.
Compare and contrast "Beeswing" and " Tear Stained Letter"
Absolutely no one has his range and genius guitar work.
He plays this song unaccompanied on guitar, you would swear it was two people.

There can be far more to the message of a performance than the technical musicality of it. Look at the crowd. They get it. Me, too.

I have an elder friend who rode a Vincent. He said they were not just scary fast but also made to the measurements of the rider. I don't know how legit that is, but I do know as a rider of Brit bikes in the 70s that they could be fast but were far more about the handling. I rode a Norton and it was for all the quirks the sweetest bike I ever rode.

what about Arlo Guthrie's The Motorcycle Song, (rhymes with dill pickle) all 62 verses?! No-?! Okay just thought I'd suggest since Richard Thompson didn't get a laugh or cover it- yes huge Arlo fan here... Are nipple stickers what they used to call "pasties"?! Friggin far out as the hippies used to say. Unusual voice sir- I love this song - like your singing voice must say much diff than your speaking voice and the bottle-neck- fab- this is such a marvellous song, yet another version can't hurt. Uniquely Peyton. I myself have Reckless Kelly's as my favorite; I've never had the privilege to ride a VIncent, but their way of accelerating the pace of the song makes me think of shifting gears on one of my bikes.

I have heard people speak with a similar speech impediment, where they uncontrollably emphasize syllables, but I have never heard anyone use it as a technique in singing. I also hate slide dobro played that way, so while these performers are unique and God bless them for that, they would not be on my bucket list of bands to hear before I die. In fact, I wish I could have back the time I spent listening to them here...
