So unfortunate that David A ran out of gas and left the band. Saw Reckless with David about 10 years ago in Boston with Micky & the Motorcars. Both bands were fantastic. Saw Reckless without David a couple years ago... Willy still rules, but just not the same without David.
They’re so great. Him and his brother (micky and the motorcars) performed at the state line in Idaho and it was hands down the best concert I’ve been to. Small venue. Just incredible music.
David rocks this song so hard. Definitely miss him at their live shows. Saw Micky and the Motorcars, Reckless and their dad at Albany MO a few years ago. Hands down the best concert I have ever been to.
If a country band wants to make an impression in our house, doing a seven-minute cover of a Richard Thopson classic like "1952 Black Vincent" is a Hell of a good place to start.
Im a 50 year old dude. There are two songs in their world that ring true I’m my heart - Leonard Cohen’s “hallelujah” and Richard Thompson’s “52 Black Lightning.” If you’re going to cover either tune, you had better nail it. It is not easy to honor either song and make it unique without being tacky or cliche. These dudes just hammer it. Bring it home. Blend in a gospel feel to the song with the country. Holy crap bro, bring a tear to my eye. I’m not crying’, you’re crying,
As a Redhead and a lover of motorcycles … a former unofficial “Ugly” and an Honorary “Red Emerald”. I LOVE THS SONG! And Reckless Kelly!!! Back in the late the 80s I worked a gig at Cain’s…. Life has been good….. God Bless America!

One of the greatest songs about THE greatest motorcycle. When I used to live in England I went to Stevenage and visited the building where they were made. Not much left these days. Just a plack, but the legend of the Vincent transends time. Reckless by far has THE best rendition of the song.
Seen this live several times always the same emotion put into this song never a disappointment..redhead and leather will always be my favorite color scheme..
I’ve had motorcycles in my life all my life and this has been my favorite motorcycle love song the whole time. I listen to this version at least once a day.
For years this was their closer. Last time I saw them it showed up in the middle of the set. Not sure where it is now, but I hope it's still in the rotation.
Agreed. The only song I can think of that I love equally by different singers. My top three are Richard Thompson, Del McCoury Band and Reckless Kelly. I so wish they’d get further west.

My grandpa had a Vincent Black Shadow. He died in 1964 when mom was 9, so I obviously didn’t know him. Grandma did sell the bike after a year or two. She needed the money to raise mom on her own. I was born in 1980. All I have is a few photographs and my grandmother’s memories that she shares with me throughout our conversations. I lost her in 2015. She’s with grandpa in heaven on the back of that Vincent.
Thank you! My Dad's mom sold his Norton while he was off to the Navy in 1947. He told me he had always wanted a Black Shadow. I came home from the NY Motorcycle show one year and told him they were lining up to see a Black Lightning on display and asked if he'd ever heard of it. He said it was the holy grail...
I grew up with a father born in 45 and built and raced bikes and cars. This song is my favorite song and they give such a good rendition. I cant wait till they come back to north florida, dying to see them live
I am pretty sure that Richard Thompson is happy to have been gifted with this HOLY song, whoever is going to cover it! Nonetheless this one is pretty awesome
The Braun bros are from Stanley, ID, where they performed as the Braun Brothers in the '70s and '80s. It's difficult to pin down whether Reckless Kelley was formed in Idaho or in Bend, OR. Whichever it was, Reckless Kelley was formed before they moved to Austin in October 1996. Or was it 1997? They have an unfortunate way of giving more than one answer to the same question.
Here's to being the Redheaded girl & the red Dirt roads... ours is kinda a black dirt road, but still the same! Worked a few gigs at Cains back in the 80's love a great ole music hall!
Ah, the *Mounted Hard Man* -- an archetype that's been setting female hearts aflutter ever since the first horsemen stormed out of Central Asia 10,000-odd years ago.
