Our shop class had one in highschool, it's a snap on digital one.... That torque wrench was like $1200, it was so fucking cool go use instead of the click ones lol

hi Gingium, race car mechanic here, when you go to clean a mating surface, if it gets a gasket or not, please use a wire wheel, it will clean just as well but makes sure that you won't have a surface that could get messed up with using something like a flap disk, grinding disk, or sanding disk. other than that this was very soothing to watch after a hard 8 hour day in the Arizona heat.
Instead of ASMR videos. Watching an engine being built is 10x more enjoyable 🔥

Really cool they let you film and awesome to see a shop not skip the little steps. Rarely do I believe mechanics will do all the small things correctly that take extra time. This bus will be a beast!

Get and ambulance and chop away or take the box off completely. There's one with a flat bed and about 4' of the ambo box between the flat bed and the cab.
Did this to my 6.0 in the ambulance last winter. Minus turbo/intake/injectors. Mostly updates, seals, cleaning and bulletproofing.

@@alexstromberg7696 hah I used to work at a train factory a few years ago, and there were 4 massive nuts underneath the chassis that 1. We're dummy hard to reach, and 2. Needed a 540ft.lbs torque......... We had like a 5ft long torque wrench and it took 2 guys to get it done 😂 730nm
Ppl love to talk bad about the 6.0 but when they are built right they are a absolute animal, I have one that’s been built and some head work done to it and custom tunes from innovative diesel and it’s a monster and will pull my gooseneck loaded down like it’s nothing, and it runs clean I’m not big into blowing black smoke just cruising around

Is there a reason why you didn't O-ring the heads? That helps alot with keeping head gaskets from blowing. Also, reusing the push rods might be a problem. Ford has a new part number for push rods on motors that have had the heads resurfaced, and head gaskets replaced. They are just a little bit shorter than the stock push rods. From what I understand, the new part number reduces the wear on the lifters, and on the rocker arm tips/bridges. I have seen cam lobes get flattened from re-using original push rods.
We didn't o-ring the heads because of budget and we didnt feel like it was necessary at the power level this engine will be at. ARP studs fix 90% of the head issues!
I was told the old pushrods were fine to re-use

Didn’t see a single Bullet Proof Diesel part go on that motor, put that stock oil cooler back in, that’s a good idea. Stock water pump as well. I look forward to seeing that thing broke down on the side of the road soon.
I have a 2001 E450 Shuttle bus with the ol 7.3. no where close to 500hp but I'm pretty happy to make 250hp with my house! She's loud and proud at 16psi. Next on the list is 4x4.

I hope he backed those head studs out a quarter turn. And you should have done your dummy plugs and stems and checked your ipr valve screen when you had it out.

Not trying to be a debby downer, but that'll be blowing those gaskets here real soon, used the same set twice on my truck with the same set up, also the head studs and only meant to be finger tight for so theyll twist as the nut torques. That was about 30 builds ago, had to learn the hard way.

get yourself a tuner and you will have more and make sure you use Ford head gaskets also get yourself some big dog cylinder heads from Powerstroke specialty and some archoil his products really do make a difference

2stroke diesels exist tho. i think detroit diesel made them for a long time

Get a Retired Crown Victoria police interceptor and swap the 6.0 Powerstroke into it. It would fast and sound wicked with a bigger Garret turbo on it.
Cleetus mcfarland has probably the record holder for the fastest crown vic with a cayote motor and a vmp supercharger that makes around 800 whp
