As much as I already want a sequel to The Messenger, I want none other than Rainbowdragoneyes to score the OST for the sequel. Nothing more, nothing less, just more of the same is good enough for me. You guys did an awesome job with the OST of The Messenger and I just cant stop listening to it. Hats off to Rainbowdragoneyes!!! You have my complete support and I appeal to others to fully support Rainbowdragoneyes for the sequel.
My understanding is he is an employee of the company and I do not see any reason he would not produce/score next game as well if there is one. Assuming rainbowdragoneyes is the same person
I know this is a year old comment, but your wish has come true, a new Messenger prequel/sequel is coming out this year, and none other than Rainbowdragoneyes is making the new OST
I don’t know if you’ll see this, but the music box theme for the final level (A melody to break the curse) has to be one of the best pieces I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to. It perfectly captures the feelings I associate with that part in the story. There’s a nice mellow section where I imagine the hero remembering all he’s been through. He stands there, the last hero in the cycle, the only one who can save humanity and break the curse. Then the music kicks it up a notch, and I can only imagine the scene of the Messenger deftly making his way through the box. Cutting down enemies, dodging traps, all his experience having lead to this moment he makes no mistakes. He can see the light at the end, this is it. The end of it all, the nightmare, the curse, he can do it. It’s a very powerful image, reinforced a thousand-fold by your music. Thank you for an epic end to a fantastic tale, told through music.
I just cried when I got inside the music box! Exactly how I felt during the whole level. At the moment you're talking about Rainbowdragoneyes got me right in my meowmeow, so ever since that's my favorite soundtrack from entire game
It feels like your words are exactly coming out of my mind.......easily one of the best, in my opinion (the best) chiptune melody in the history of gaming. ❤🙏
For a game as funny as The Messenger I wasn't expecting such a beautiful and emotionnal music as the Final Level, but here we are definitly my favorite music of the OST.
Your soundtrack totally makes the game, it's some of the best chiptunes I've ever heard. You've just reached godlike status with a single soundtrack, you rarely see that happen. Very good job!
I remember when I first found your music through your youtube channel back in The Secret Mirror days, and I'm so glad you're getting mainstream attention because I always knew the music was good enough.
I'm playing through The Messenger right now and enjoying the hell out of it. What really makes it stand out is this unbelievable soundtrack and how it transitions from past to future and in and out of water. Soooooo good. These tunes are right up there with some of my faves (Megaman 2, Final Fantasy 6, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Street Fighter 2). All hail Rainbowdragoneyes!
The Messenger is my favorite game. I'm very grateful to know this game through the Xbox Game Pass. I loved the work done on that game. Thanks for everything.
Actually couldn't be more agree on this. The harmony between the level design where the traps don't start to move till the melody stars to play, is insane. ❤🙏
18:58 This is one of the best tracks, even if it isn't as melodic as most of the other tracks. Probably because I heard it most often. Not necessarily for the longest time, but very regular during the whole game.
When I got to bamboo creek in the game (8 bit) I basically stopped to look up remixes on the 'tube immediately. Missed opportunity to name it Bamboo Boogaloo II: Bamboo Boogaloo
just started playing The Messenger, just wanted to say this soundtrack hit me so hard in the nostalgia...especially when the 16-bit music kicks in...so far The Frozen Dark is my favorite track...both 8-bit and 16-bit
Man this ost is such a love letter to oldschool game music, like... it really gives me the feels. Just beat the game too, it was awesome. Except the part where I died like a thousand times running from that eldritch beastie and thought my thumbs were gonna fall off
I don't exaggerate when I say that the soundtrack to this game is easily up there as one of my top favorite soundtracks of all time. No, not just video game soundtracks, but soundtracks _period._ If only this game were bigger so that there'd be a bigger music cover/remix scene for it.
Yeah, I suppose so. I guess it's only a matter of time! I have come across a really good remix of Bamboo Boogaloo and a pretty good cover of Harnessing the Wind already.
While playing this game I would quite literally just stop at certain intervals and rave to the sound track. I just had to put the pad down and drown my ears in this incredible amalgamation of sounds.
I beat this game a while back and even now the soundtrack hits me in all the right feels. The game, with its amazing controls and hands down the best movement of any sides roller, and the soundtrack just fitting every single level so perfect, is an absolute masterpiece and I can safely say it's my favorite game. Every level and thus every song had me just stop a bit and listen and jam out. It is just so damn satisfying that every song gets me pumped as I run, jump, glide, slash, and dart my way through each level. 11/10 would absolutely love for a second messenger game as long as you do the soundtrack and the movement is as good as it is in the first!
All the comments are God damn right, this ost rulz from the beginning till the end ❤

Great work! Amazing soundtrack. I love that the samples sound much more like the Sega Genesis which had a more distorted gritty sound than the smooth SNES sounds. It fits great with the game and adds to the ambiance.
Pretty sure it uses proper 4-op fm synth like on the mega drive/genesis, not just samples from it as there are a lot of modulation effects used and it seems to adhere to the same limitations of 5 fm channels, 1 sample channel and 4 psg channels.
@Criminal Scum the shopkeeper if i am not wrong says that because of the curse every adventure that died there become a mushroom monster, and in game the mushrooms in the background looks like they are singing some parts of the music
I'm like 1 min into this soundtrack and I'm buying the game because of this. Damn. Disc-1 being 8-bit: The Past and Disc-2 being 16-bit: The Future is such a cool idea.
Cloud Ruins = Best Music, plus the mega drive/genesis soundfont used is so damn good (the snes/Super Famicom doesnt have the blast processing to play this soundtrack)
