One of the best retro game soundtracks in a very long time, every level song is catchy and memorable, even days after I stopped playing the songs were in my head. Great job, I'll add these songs to my personal playlists for sure.

As someone who grew up with Nintendo and Mario music The Frozen Light really comes out of left field to me. Unlike Mario ice themes which focus on slow tempo to build a more frozen wasteland vibe that you need to traverse slowly else you are sure to slide into a death pit, The Frozen Light goes for a rather fast tempo to convey to the player that "you don't have time to be slow and careful here" and it really works as this is the first stage where you are in constant danger of instadeath and really teaches you that moving fast with a plan is the way to win here.
34:11 - I remember the moment when this song kicked on. With everything that was happening in-game at the time, I got some serious Castlevania vibes & it was awesome.

As somebody who grew on NES and SNES games, I love all those retr-games, especially Metroidvanias and platformers (only wish there were more of them). This game, however, is an absolute masterpiece. As much as I love Ninja Gaiden trilogy (almost on par with Castlevania), I gotta admit the Messenger IS a much better experience. It is clearly inspired by NG, but in its core, it's something fresh. The script is really intelligent, witty, funny thanks to Thierry's writing. Kudos for that! And it's the only modern retro-game that has so many phenomenal stage songs. Searing Crags (16:38), Catacombs (7:03), Bamboo Creek (9:50), Autumn Hills (2:28), The Arcane Shoppe (26:41), and many others... so many catchy themes. I absolutely love this soundtrack! I can listen to this sh%t all day long, and it doesn't get boring. Thank you fellas at Sabotage Studio for putting your love and passion into this project. You made something really special.
