  • The KUD Pošta Maribor Brass Band (Post Brass Band) was set up in 1931 by a group of postal workers, amateur musicians. It soon became very popular and many other band music enthusiasts, who were not postal employees, joined them. The Post Brass Band is largely supported and sponsored by Slovenia’s national postal operator - Pošta Slovenije d.o.o.
From the very beginning, the band has received widespread publicity. One could hardly imagine an important cultural, sports or tourist event in Maribor or in the district without the Post Brass Band playing. The band regularly takes part in symphony band competitions held in Slovenia where it is ranked among the best. It has also been invited to perform at many competitions and festivals abroad and has had great success at the international competitions in Austria, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, Bohemia, Sweden, Croatia and Spain. Recently, the band has also included show programme in their repertoire and has recorded some very successful performances at festivals in Great Britain (Birmingham 2013) and in Germany (two festivals in 2014).
Since 1967 the Post Brass Band has been conducted by Ervin Hartman.
Ervin Hartman (1943) studied horn and drums and graduated from the Faculty of Business Economics in Maribor. Having played in the Post Brass Band since his childhood he succeeded his father as a band-master in August 1967. At that time he was one of the youngest band-masters in Slovenia. His professionalism and eagerness to experiment with new effects together with financial security has led to an extraordinary boom of the Post Brass Band of Maribor during last thirty years. Ervin Hartman also takes an active part in the projects of the Slovenian Symphony Band Association, local Cultural Association and international music associations.
