Dice is just quintessential, hard rock Band-Maid at its finest. If you like Dice, you'll like over 100 other Band-Maid hit songs, too! Think about that -- over 100 awesome songs to hear! What a great prospect to have in front of you! 😉🤘 Thx, Nate & Case!
"Carrot or stick" is "candy or whip" in Japan. A message to those who are withdrawn into themselves. "The die is cast" that's life and you can't stop. Get out there and move forward. To do that, do you like candy or whip? "May I take your order?"
"Dice" has been extended with a drum interlude, blending into "Hate?" -- first at Lollapalooza, but also at the Tenth Anniversary Concert at Yokohama Arena last year. Watch the Lollapalooza live to see the entire Dice/Hate? performance.
Enjoyed your reaction to one of the best Band-Maid hard rock songs. There is great symbolism here in going from the self-imposed darkness of stagnant complacently to accepting the challenge to be truly oneself by taking the risk to finally take off one's blindfold and stepping out into the light of new possibilities. Life is a gamble, and one must be willing to take risks in life while fully realizing that, either winning or losing, the choices must be up to you in the end. One can be as lifeless as that doll or become fully alive by being willing to risk rolling the dice of endless possibilities in order to step into a new world of existence.
8:17 - Similar uplifting lyrics are in a Rush song "The Pass" - "All of us do time in the gutter, Dreamers turn to look at the cars" the Idea of looking up to see more than your surroundings is a great message and just another link (in MY view) of How BAND-MAID has picked up the mantle of "Classic Rock" and carries it forward in excellence.
Love you guys analysis. Most underrated part of Bandmaid is their lyrics. Some says it reflect religous view of Miku. Very philosophical and beautiful.
Very close . It’s about the people in Japan that are afraid to leave their homes. I’m sure I will be corrected. I believe they are called the hikikomori population.
7:00 Kobato's lyrics are multidimensional. I think you are, if we want to say this, correct. This song seems to be an "awakening" song, especially for a young woman. It is a song partly about choices, choosing, and taking action. Taking off your protective shields and exposing yourself to experience, knowing that good or bad, the experiences will affect how you grow toward that mission you have chosen. Also, realizing that there comes a time, by your own actions or just inevitability, that "one must put aside childish things" and face growth with courage. I also like her use of double entendre in "The die are cast" to mean both the permanency of the situation now, and also that you control the casting of your risks.
Just to let you know. "Clang" has a fan-cam video shot by Vladimir Chupin on his You/Tube channel. (He's a die-hard Band-Maid fan and does share his fan-cam videos). At the beginning of the live fan-cam, the introduction to the song is a "tap-off" between MISA (bassist) and Kanami (lead guitar). It's fun as hell.
If you guys like a driving beat with Motorhead vibes, you need to react to "Moratorium" and "Clang". Both songs have that hard-rock beat. Makes you want to get in your car, crank up the stereo, and surpass the speed limit.
Yes. These five Japanese ladies are making strong stuff somewhere... And not only in the text, but also in the instrumental layer... Sorry for the cleverness... :DD
You have good "explanations" for the text and the "events" of the video. BUT! I have my own interpretation. (Sorry :) "Come out into the light, don't bury your head in the sand, because you'll do better. Even if it hurts, still. DON'T PERFECT::: :DD

This is the song where I realized how great BAND-MAID was. Thanks to Kanamincho: Mother of Riffs

Nailed it!!!!! Great job. I was trying to think how to say exactly what you did so easily.

🤘Dice! Forever in the top 10 of favorite songs! 🤘
My first song/video from them and been hooked ever since!
This song really shows off all the members firing on all cylinders for the whole song !!!!!! Another masterpiece by Kanami !!!!!

Ain't it cool? That's the way I see it.
This song set the hook for Band-Maid for me! "Thrill" got me nibbling, then "Dice" was hook, line and sinker! All the way down the Pigeon Hole now!
Dang, that's good.
💜💛❤💙💚
Clean transitions? Can't wait for next week.

So true!

I think it was more the young girl blindfolded to the world, then taking off the blindfold and walking into the world

Candy or the whip, which do like? has to be one of the kinkiest lines in a BAND-MAID song.

Just found out this was video #5000 that I've liked on YT🥳

Outside pretty much all of "Don't Let Me Down".
