39:17 it's the whole reason Wes Anderson wanted to make the movie.
It was essentially Fox finally accepting he is not a wild animal, upon being confronted with what he can never be, and by extension what he never really was.

It was by Fantastic Mr. Fox that I started to realize: directors like Steven Spielberg and Wes Anderson have such a clear and unique understanding of writing and depicting kid characters. Just like adults, they get angry, jealous - but they don't want to stay that way, that's why they make up so fast but not by saying sorry, sometimes it's simply by inviting another to share a favorite toy - like Ash and Kristofferson with the train set.

If you've seen the Fabelmans, you have some kind of idea why that is for Spielberg.

What? I grew up saying sorry as a kid (I hated it lol). I guess it depends on where you're from.

Also, by Wes' constant use of "Cussin'" as all-purpose generic PC mumble-core profanity, he doesn't really know how to write scripts without it, ans...really doesn't have the slightest CLUE how to step out of his own ornamental quirky-indie box and do films for actual families.
To know that, he'd have to enjoy a few of his own, but that would involve simulating actual human behavior.

    • @DYDYBEEBEE
      @DYDYBEEBEE Рік тому

@@memorylayneeeit depends on trauma and everyone's own mentality. ash obviously feels a bit overlooked and lashes out as a result, and when kristofferson shows up that is released as jealousy.

I love the animation, characters, and especially the humor of this movie so much. My favorite line has always been:
"Why did you take your shoes off?"
"So I don't break your nose when I kick it."

The best thing for me is the way they deliver their lines in this film. No one ever raises their voice, and there's something charming about that. Also, be honest, who else wanted to try goose liver donuts after watching this?

All of that credit goes to the fact that none of this was in a recording booth!
They're all on location talking to each other, specifically so it can feel like genuine dialogue!

    Fun Facts:
It was nominated for two Oscars, Best Animated Film and Best Original Score for Alexandre Desplat. Both awards went to Up.
The director, Wes Anderson, went on to make another stop-motion film, Isle of Dogs, which was nominated for the same two awards.
The recording of the voice lines is unique in that, instead of sound booths, everyone’s lines were recording in actual locations like in houses, outdoor fields, etc.
Which leads into this little tidbit: The plane with the banner that flies by during the whackbat game? That was because the best take they had for that seen had a motorboat in the background, so they just incorporated the sound into the movie. Gives it that extra spontaneity. ❤️
Voice cast in the movie: George Clooney as Mr. Fox, Meryl Streep as Felicity Fox, Jason Schwartzman (who you might know recently as Jasper from Klaus) as Ash, Bill Murray as Badger, Willem Dafoe as Rat, Owen Wilson as Coach, and Michael Gambon (the second Dumbledore) as Frank Bean.
Fantastic Mr. Fox is one of only a few animated films to be included in the Criterion Collection, an organization devoted to the restoration and distribution of films. A few other animated selections include Watership Down, Fantastic Planet, and WALL-E.

I think the whole wolf thing is symbolism. Wolves and foxes are canids, very different but still the same in a lot of ways. I think he fears wolves because they’re the true embodiment of what it is to be a wild animal. When foxy finally accepts that at the end of the day, they’re all wild animals he no longer fears the wolf. He respects the wolf, honours the wolf and wishes it luck on its journey. Making peace with himself is making peace with the “wolf” that’s inside all wild animals.

I remember seeing this on a Saturday afternoon matinee with a group of moms and kids who, being normal people, had never heard of Wes Anderson, but naively thought this would actually resemble a Roald Dahl adaptation. You can guess the mood in the theater.
The kids were mostly puzzled, but giggled every time the possum's eyes glazed over, and the moms' eyes had glazed over well before. 😶

"Why is your cousin such a wet sandwich?" XD
"You're supposed to be MY lab partner..."
    "I am..."
"No you're not. You're disloyal...." XD
(Weasel is voiced by the director, Wes Anderson).
Love Kylie's thousand yard stare(and when he gives the little hand signal to make it clear he's still listening).
Wes Anderson's movies are so good consistently. If you haven't, definitely suggest seeing "the Royal Tenenbaums", "Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou", "Isle of Dogs"(similar stop motion animation)and "Grand Budapest Hotel". All great.

The jokes you claim either didn’t land or weren’t amusing - weren’t jokes. This isn’t a Marvel film. It’s just a form of subversive dialogue. Essentially wit. Also, the exchange between Fox and the Wolf was a nod towards being of the same and different. The fist raise was a hat tip towards a black power salute of unity.

They are amazing and suspenseful. They are very loved. The films that I'm talking about are Wait Until Dark (1967), The Nanny (1965), and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane (1962). They are more like suspense thrillers and will have you on the edge of your seat. If you watch Wait Until Dark, that's a movie that should be watched with the lights off.
