Cool fun facts: This was written by Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach who were both big fans of the book. This is 99% stop motion with using saran wrap for water, soap for fire, and cotton as smoke. They also didn't record the dialogue in a studio but instead in the location they used for the settings to capture their chemistry and interactions.
The animation is phenomenal. I love the characters, tone, and especially the humor of this movie so much. Wes Anderson never misses. My favorite line, that I still find myself quoting has always been: "Why did you take your shoes off?" "So I don't break your nose when I kick it."
Fun Facts: 1) the breakfast scene in the beginning shows Mr Fox's coffee mug, which is made to look just like the personal coffee mug of Fantastic Mr Fox's author, Roald Dahl 2) When Mr Fox is talking to Kylie about how he plans on robbing Boggis' farm, the room he does it in is styled to look exactly like the interior of Roald Dahl's "writing hut" which was where he wrote all of his famous novels and was located in his backyard. The shed was eventually moved & is currently on display in the "Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre" in Great Missenden, England.
Very wholesome detail you might miss: When Fox was being shown the tree, the real estate agent makes the same squiggly hands in reference to Kylie. Meaning Kylie is *squiggly hands* different too!
Some animators who worked on this movie also worked on Wes Anderson’s next stop-motion movie, ”Isle of Dogs” (also really good). Anderson also did more Roald Dahl adaptations later, when he made a bunch of short films based on Dahl’s short stories for Netflix
I love this film alot. ❤❤ I always laugh at the part when he and badger argue about buying the tree he goes "the cuss you are". And in this film they never say one cuss words, it's always cuss. Lol
I recently rewatched this because someone made the argument that it was a Thanksgiving movie. It totally is BTW. But I forgot how cussing amazing this movie is! The straightforward, matter-of-factness of the acting is a signature of Wes Anderson's directing style. He's one of the most stylistically distinct directors. A really cool detail is that even though all the animals portray this civility, they still hiss like wild animals and they still eat with 0 table manners. Also, they talk about Ash being *waves hands* "different." Ash is the only one at the end eating grape juice, not apple juice. Fun fact: during the scene where they're all hanging out and diving, the song playing on the radio is the love theme from Disney's Robin Hood.
In the scene where Ash and Kristofferson are diving into the pool, if you listen carefully, the song Love Goes On from Robin Hood is being played on the radio. Can't wait till you see Isle Of Dogs.
I loved this movie when it came out. Love stop motion in general. Also was surprised with Grand Butispist hotel without knowing much about that film. which was m exposure to Wes's work. I also highly recommend if your a wes Anderson fan for most of his work if you haven't watched it yet. check his latest stop motion flick if you haven't already isle of dogs. :)
You are a woman of taste I can tell. : ) I really liked the Grand Budapest as well. It is one of the best examples of an unreliable narrator. The movie takes place in a girls mind based off a book she is reading of an author recounting his memories about a time an older gentleman told him a story of his youth.
This movie is wonderful, watch it every now and then when I just want a fun little film on in the background >< Fantastic Mr Fox is a classic school story here in england and this is a great film with a loose base on it.

Some animators who worked on this movie also worked on Wes Anderson’s next stop-motion movie, ”Isle of Dogs” (also really good). Anderson also did more Roald Dahl adaptations later, when he made a bunch of short films based on Dahl’s short stories for Netflix

1:55 All the newspaper stories are straight from the book!
the weasel showing fox around the tree is voiced by Wes Anderson
2:01 the yellow mug is based off of Roald Dahls mug
In the scene where Ash and Kristofferson are diving into the pool, if you listen carefully, the song Love Goes On from Robin Hood is being played on the radio. Can't wait till you see Isle Of Dogs.
35:19 All of the fires in this scene are made from soap carvings and cotton!

Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!😊😊😊😊
🦊👍 Roald Dahl's books lend themselves well to stop-motion animation. "James & The Giant Peach" (1996) is also a good example. 🍑
29:25 that entire waterfall is made from cellophane and tinfoil!
If your looking yo watch more films with this kind of vibe, Island of Dogs was also so good!
You should do Isle of Dogs next, its also directed by Wes Anderson. Its funny.
This movie is wonderful, watch it every now and then when I just want a fun little film on in the background >< Fantastic Mr Fox is a classic school story here in england and this is a great film with a loose base on it.
