    Excellent video Jack. It's why this channel is so good. None of this spinning the camera round for 20mins saying ' look what I've done today which makes terrible viewing, a proper video doing actual work. Keep um coming Jackm superb

    Hi Jack, nice to see you again, when you drill through the ceiling, things are never where you expect them to be in the loft, there is always something in the way, but in the end, you sorted it matey.

    Here because of a CableSmith Electrical shout out. I did like the last part, got to admit. Great content and definitely useful for us learners. How about an automatic wire stripper to get sub 60 seconds on a downlight install?

    Socket screws 6 o clock or quarter to 3 ? Also is that your 6" of cable at every downlight?😂

      Quarter to 3 every time, so the pins are smiling at you 😂 we leave a lot of cable at downloghts to be fair

    Which point(s) would you test to having installed all the new lights? Would you take the GU10s out of each fitting? What about if they were integrated? Thanks for the video.

    • @JRCElectrical
      @JRCElectrical  Рік тому

      To properly test the while thing you would need to remove lamps and dimmers from everywhere on the circuit your testing, you can also link the l-n and test to earth starting a 250v just incase 👀 😂

    You missed the most important bit!, are you wiring the downlighters in a daisy chain? ie, from one lamp to the next with live to live, neutral to neutral , lamp to lamp? or it it running in a loop? I am only familiar with DC rather than AC, and that is what I came to find clarification on.

    • @JRCElectrical
      @JRCElectrical  9 місяців тому

      Yeah so each fitting is wired from the one before and finishing at the last, l - n - earth in and the same out to next

    • @motorclaimguru
      @motorclaimguru 9 місяців тому +1

      Many thanks, the lights I have is an Aldi special with no "Out" just an "in" with Live and neutral, @@JRCElectrical ,so if i take the live neutral from the light before and put two wires in each hole that is the same colour , all good? only three lamps. Many thanks for replying, it is very much appreciated, or is there some type of block that I can use to wire them into?

    • @JRCElectrical
      @JRCElectrical  9 місяців тому

      @@motorclaimguru yeah each light will have 2 lives 2 neutrals and 2 earths that need connecting to the light
      The final light will just have one of each

    • @motorclaimguru

    Why not stick a bradawl in instead of a drill bit, smaller hole & less risk of going into pipes or cables + less filling!

    I have a query and don't mean to come across negative. The content is great, all helpful, as are many other videos on this topic. However, regardless of of ability to do this work - where does this fall with the regs and part p? My concern with ME doing the work isn't my ability, it's my concern over voiding my house insurance, having issues later in selling the house with no certificate etc etc. Can anyone clarify?

    • @JRCElectrical
      @JRCElectrical  11 місяців тому

      None of the work needs notifying as it’s not notifiable work (bathrooms and kitchens mainly)
      When you sell the house you would need an EICR or electrical cert covering the property and any electrical works you have had done so this would need to be done prior to you selling the house.
      I wouldn’t advise doing it yourself as you may struggle when it comes to sell

    Hi sir have you ever come up against the walls not being level or the walls are out one end and in the other how do you measure them then. If your 600 from the wall would you do still do 600 all 4 ways even if the wall is in and out

    • @JRCElectrical
      @JRCElectrical  Рік тому

      Normall even if the walls are out it won’t be that far out and measuring and lasering either end of the room will make them level with the walls so your eyes won’t notice it’s out, that’s what we do anyway 🤷‍♂️ 😂

    • @khurama30
      @khurama30 Рік тому +1

      @JRCElectrical I got from one end of the wall to the other 356 cm and the opposite side same wall to the other wall 354 cm
      Then across I got 341 cm one side and the other side I got 343

    • @khurama30
      @khurama30 Рік тому +1
