It’s a drag for anybody to get bumped off of any show but I think Letterman was so entertained by Art Donovan that he would had him on every other night if possible. One of the greatest guests ever. On any show
I remember watching the 1994 Julia Child segment live. I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe when they did the cooking segment and started drinking the sherry, LMAO CLASSIC. Thank you for posting these!
the story about the prison in Green Bay at 51:45 I hadn't heard before. "Hope they keep ya in there for life ya rat bastards!" HAHAHAHAAH Art still manages to make me laugh out loud!
Thank you so much for posting these treasures. Huge Letterman fan, here. And, the Art Donovan interviews were the best. He's from the Bronx, a few blocks from me.
He always said he was suppose to play at 275, so weighed in on Friday morning, then went out Friday and Saturday, drank bear and at hot dogs and bologna and by Sunday he was 285. I think at one time he said he got to 340.
"If the ball went in the high grass we'd send him in to get the ball because he had only one of two chances of getting bit by the snake." Now that's a good joke!

Had to come back and rewatch all these, miss Artie.

Thank you for this.
Art was 75 at the end, his first show he was 59, His younger Sister died last year at 95 and Art lived to 88.
At 01:06:00 : “Move around, you’re killing the grass.” Classic!
This is why Letterman was the greatest.
Yup. God I miss him.
“When did she ever had an egg cream?” is one of my favorite quotes of all time.
Big Daddy Lipscomb, Art Donovan, #19 Johnny Unitas, the Baltimore Colts. The best.
Gino Machetti, Raymond Berry, Lenny Moore, John Mackey, Ted Hendricks, Mike Curtis should be
There is no off position on the genius switch. Don Giller, you magnificent librarian.
Dear.god.what a.defensive line...Donovan, Marchetti, Lipscomb, joyce.....some bad bad men
What was the car doing in the background for Julia's segment with all the lights and fancy backdrop? Was Bob Barker on the show or something?
Small correction, it’s 1994-2000
Also, Dave wore Art Donovan’s jersey in his 2010 Super Bowl commercial with Leno and Oprah
Argh; missed typo. Fixed. Thanks!
Don Giller no problem. Keep up the good work.
And I completely forgot about the jersey. Damn.
I hope he washed that jersey thoroughly first.
and then he died?
How much does this guy weigh?
A lot less than he did ten years ago.
LOL I was hoping somebody would've posted this comment. Nice job Marc.

Cooking segment was always Paul trying it and saying “very...very GOOD”! But I loved Art’s “delicious” just as much.
"Bloodshot, or whatever his name is. "

When God made Art Donovan, he broke the mold. Then he beat the Hell out of the mold maker.😅
1:12:45 "(The Jets) plot against the Patriots"... yeah, that worked out well.
Julia!!
23:56
Why was he was playing ping pong with John Stossel in his underwear?!
Why not?
