    Don’t put your video down calling it boring! I’ve never done any project even close to this labor intensive and to me this is inspiring. Cheers to an awesome backyard

    Great job!!!! As a former professional bowler I will add some comments here > The amount of weight you have on the pinheads could be cut way down for more realistic pin action. Loose the twine rope holding the pins for some 80 lb fishing line or other filament. This will also make it look more aesthetically pleasing. Loose the carabiners/clips for some eye hooks drilled into the top of the pins. Typically you want the most weight to be centered in the widest part of the pin were the ball makes contact.

    Awesome job! I have a half scale lane in my basement and it is 10 years ago this month of May it was built. In NY, I don’t think we could have a permanent outdoor bowling alley with all the rain and snow, it would not last too long. But in Arizona you should be OK! Congratulations! I have a few UA-cam videos, under the name of Mapleridge lane. Enjoy and looking forward to a video of a bowling match with scores! 👍

    Have you figured out a way to clear the dead wood (pins knocked down) before shooting for spares?

    I feel like you should put leaders on the pin ropes, and find a way to hook the string into the wood of the pin rather than using all of that hardware. Other than that, I think this is amazing. I hope it's still in good shape after 2 years.

    Cool lane but as a right handed bowler I usually stand off to the left a bit. That wall would definitely make it hard for me.

  • @Wordsnwood
    @Wordsnwood 4 роки тому +2

    Dimensions? It's clearly not 42inches wide or 60 feet long... I think you mentioned 30 feet at one point. Is it just half scale?
    Where did you get the pins? where did you get the balls? Did you consider using skinnier rope?
    30+ years ago I remember playing string bowling at a lane in Hamilton, Ontario. The strings in that bowling alley were pretty much invisible --- now of course it was dim, as all bowling alleys are, and it was a full size 5-pin bowling alley, so it was far away. (yes, I said 5-pin. This is Canada, where we have both five pin and ten pin. The five pin ball looks a lot like the balls that you were using.

      @davemirl  4 роки тому +2

      You are correct, it is half-scale. 30 feet from the foul line to head pin and 21 inches wide. I chose the ropes that I did for durability in the heat and across pulleys. Here are links for where I got the balls and pins...

    Are the measurements of the lane official specs? Bowling lanes in a bowling alley seems much longer.

    • @davemirl
      @davemirl  3 роки тому +2

      The measurements are all 50% of an actual lane.
