Until I watched GT subbed, I didn't realize or appreciate how good it was. SSJ4 in my opinion has the coolest design for a transformation, if you don't count UI Omen.
The music in GT for SSJ4 is emotional, and the no added dialogue made the scene better. Funimation dub of that was quite bad.
FUNimation ruined entire series. Their dub for DB/Z was nowhere as bad as for GT. Also, music they put in Z was awesome while their music for GT was fucking disaster.

@@the_real_idoit8166the ascetic of omen is amazing though. youre right it is a technique. but look at how his demeanor, aura and even hair changes. its easier to call it a transformation then to not. especially since MuI looks so much different than anything else. but they are still techniques. The manga really proves this since goku is able to use UI as SSB.

Golden Great Ape has one of my favorite transformation scenes. I love how poetic it is that Goku transforms by looking at the Earth and how most of the flashbacks he see are from the original DB, which was where Goku turned into a Great Ape the last time, and then we get the old red eyes + labored breathing combo.
People may complain about GT a lot, but its later half had a lot of memorable moments.
Its funny he compared Ozaru to Godzilla instead of the obvious King Kong...😂😂😂😂😂😂

This video touches on something that I actually liked that GT did: it took moments and lines from before and expands on them. That Golden Ape we saw during the Namek saga? Boom, Golden Oozaru. Old Kai thinks the Dragon Balls are dangerous? Boom, Shadow Dragons.
Anyway, I always assumed the Golden Great Ape was basically Ape but Super Saiyan, however it’s much harder to control, as evidenced by Vegeta struggling to control it when he turned during the Shadow Dragon saga (although that could have simply been him just out of practice with the form). Mastering that form unlocked the full potential of a Saiyan, Super Saiyan 4: the perfect mix of Super Saiyan and Great Ape maxed out.
The golden ape was.the first super saiyan that destroyed Sadala in universe 7
I’m kinda glad they brought the Golden Oozaru concept to Broly, since SS Broly is literally a humanoid Golden Oozaru, and he beats tf outta Freeza for a whole ass hour.

I was always under the impression the reason Golden Great Ape Baby/Vegeta had full control in that form was due to the fact that Baby was a parasite and it's Vegeta who evolved, meaning he controlled the evolved body and mind as the lack of control happened to Vegeta but is negligible because the parasite controls the body regardless of mental state? I'm certain that Baby states this in the episode where he stops pretending to rampage. This may be a dub error albeit

I actually loved GT and their transformations. They took their storylines in a path that was based from OG DBZ lore. Example is that the super saiyan legend that vegeta first told us, it showed a great ape with a golden outline, they took that tiny detail and made the Golden Great Ape. And even how the elder kai told goku to regrow his tail in order to gain more power. That is a huge throwback to when raditz said saiyans are at their most powerful with their tail being fully grown. Just tiny details like this that they've managed to spin entire storylines out of is amazing. I don't see GT as horrible as a lot of other fans do. But I see GT as a 'what if' scenario, like how every dragon ball game does lol. It's really interesting and actually good if you try not to watch it with spiteful intentions
As with Super Saiyan 4, I really liked the concept of a Golden Oozaru. I wish we see more of it's uses. I'm mean Goku's was able to breathe _fire_ just imagine what else that form could do. I would kill to see Great Ape Goku against Great Ape Baby Vegeta.

Golden Great Ape was a cool idea. It went back to the roots of DragonBall.
Golden great ape and super sayain 4 are my favorite transformations. They seem like a natural evolution of the sayain. Its not just a super saysin with different ape, its a ozaru that we t super sayain, and then a person controls themselves to reach the next stage.
The return of the tails will take dragon ball super to next level

They really should. Great Ape is a form Goku never mastered.
Sometimes the simplest explanations are the most correct, and to me Golden Oozaru came about bc it was like the "SSJ level" of the Great Ape form. Any Saiyan that can reach SSJ or higher and turns Great Ape probably has the ability to go normal, brown ape or Golden.
Maybe even transform from brown oozaru INTO GOLDEN oozaru before our eyes!
In my headcanon i always thought that the Great Ape was a Saiyan's pure form, making SS4 the true legendary super saiyan. It takes the best of both worlds and mutates them into one. What i never understood though is why it has black hair and red fur. You'd think that since he was a Golden Ape literally moments before transforming that the final form would also be golden. That would truly make it a SUPER SAIYAN form.

I liked this form too. I thought it was great in the DBS Broly movie were the used the Oozaru power but in humanoid form. Went back to their roots.

I like GT..in the future I wouldn’t mind them re adapting a lot of the plots back into canon because they were cool..just poorly executed at times.

The Golden Great Ape Form is so unique, especially Super Saiyan 4
Actually, Baby revealed that the reason he was able to control the Great Ape form was because it was Vegeta who transformed, not him. Baby is just living off of Vegeta, so the Great Ape’s capacity for control had nothing to do with him.
GT was my introduction to Dragon Ball and I absolutely love Golden Oozaru and Super Saiyan 4

if they're like me, they were only familiar with the dub. I'm not shitting on the Funimation dub at all, but the Japanese dub made me appreciate it a lot more.

I like GT. It's my least favorite DB series (still have yet to watch Super) but I still prefer it to most other anime. Every time somebody brings up hate for GT the first thing to come out of almost everyone's mouth is "Toriyama didn't do it". Seems for some people that a big reason for the hate. Of course there's plenty of fans with valid criticisms of the series but for some reason the "no Toriyama" argument is the one everyone seems to bring up most often.

The “Oo” portion of “Oozaru (おおざる/大猿)” pronounces like “Au” of “Auto” or “A” of “Ball” in Japanese.

If mastering and gaining control of Golden Great Ape leads to Super Saiyan 4, I wonder why Cumber didn't turn into a Super Saiyan 4. I mean he didn't go wild when he transformed into Golden Great Ape, he could even talk and everything. I suppose they will give him SS4 in the future. Everyone has SS4 in Heroes. Vegito, Broly, Bardock, Gohan you name it.

At 3:23 I had heard some of the same things about super saiyan that the blond hair and blue eyes was just a mutation of saiyans not fully taping into their true power since their tail was gone. Only going halfway so to speak.

You don't need one if you pay attention to the word, MULTIPLIER. Base Oozaru is 10x. Super Saiyan is 50x. Therefore Golden (Super Saiyan) Oozaru must be a 500x multiplier, right?

Aside from super baby , I absolutely love the golden ozaru and thought it was a real treat that instead of making baby Turns Super Saiyan 4 they just left them as the great Golden Ape fighting against Goku which to me is a very fantastic thing that anyone could enjoy!

One thing I never noticed when first seeing the transformation is how the Oozaru's skin color changes along with the fur. I only saw it when watching the transformation scene again recently.
Great video, but just a couple of things I want to verify:
1) I don't think the transformation from great to golden great ape has someting to do with the amount of blutz waves given. I think the only reason Bulma gave both Baby and Vegeta so much amounts of blutz waves was to compensate for the fact that Vegeta didn't have a tale anymore.
2) I could be wrong about this one but wasn't the reason Baby didn't go berserk when he transformed into a golden great ape was not because of Vegeta's ability to control the great ape form, but because he is a different entity that resides within Vegeta, so the form only affected Vegeta's mind but not Baby's?
Again I could be wrong but I just wanted to make sure.

I have an Idea. I believe the Golden ape can be achieved by two methods.
The one already mentioned by achieving SSJ and turning into an ape. But I believe it can be done without previously turning into SSJ. Based on how the story is told, it would seem to imply SSJ can be achieved once you reach a certain level of power level. Since the Ape form is a power multiplier, it can put a persons power level to where one can achieve SSJ. Combine with the "rage" ape form gives a you, this would make the only method for this person to reach SSJ.... being in ape form first. This would have Vegeta's story make more since, right?
This is essentially what Broly did, but in his humanoid state. It’s something I loved from Super, as it adapted one of my favorite concepts of GT into Super, and to BROLY no less, aka the FORMER Legendary SS, granted this Broly is different from Z’s Broly, but still.
It’s nice to see that they referenced the idea of the “true” Super Saiyan to the Saiyan that can unleash the Saiyans potential to its roots the best AKA S Broly.
Dude I legit was just thinking about what you said about the SSJ forms right before you actually said it in this video holy shit. But yeah, ngl I’m inspired to elaborate on this cause I got some thoughts that relate to stuff I’ve said about this topic for years now.

This transformation always confused me because it seems that if you know how to become a super saiyan as a human, then if you are a cognizant great ape , you should be able to become a super oozaru. But then you should be able to become a SSJ4 and skip the first three transformations and obtain this power. But I guess having knowledge of the super saiyan form and being able to transform into one as a human must not be enough. Maybe the ceiling for transformation as a great ape is higher than that as a super saiyan. Who knows. It doesn't make complete sense but I love the fact this transformation and super saiyan 4 are a homage to the primal ancestry and roots of saiyan heritage.
Well that's basically what Vegeta did. He had Super Saiyan knowlege up to atleast 2. And also cognitive control of Great Ape. However, he didn't have the tail on his own and once being subjected to enough of that apparently allowed his tail to regrow he feigned out of control a bit, got serious went Ssj in Great Ape and quickly turned Ssj4.
Goku's case he did get his tail, but had no control over Great Ape, and though Elder Kai mentioned Ssj4 he really had no idea 'how' to go Ssj4. So it's not like he could skip it. For what I can tell under going the full process is enough for Saiyans to achieve Ssj4 through the accumulated Blutz waves and having control of themselves mentally. THEN their bodies adapt and they would be able to reproduce the form without the need of Golden Oozarou, so long as they maintain their tail.
My guess is that they do something like in Digimon, Goku actually DOES transform into a Great Ape before SSj4 but it happens so fast that we don't even notice it.
Zamasu would throw up and have a stroke if he seen a golden great ape and SSJ4

I think part of the reason they dont keep using the golden great ape form is because it's a bit harder to personify a big beast in a character driven story.

We saw it for a couple of seconds when goku went from god to blue. Though goku was getting smacked about by broly, he wasn't on deaths door (ssg heals you over time), if he was he would not have been able to power up to blue and would have been knocked back to base form.
When goku achieved UI, his body was already f'd up from blue kk x20, then on top of that his body took the combined energy of frieza, 17, 18, gohan and piccolo in the spirit bomb. It takes very special criteria to unlock UI and if merus can force this out of goku, how crazy strong is merus?
Irrelavant point... But had vegeta also have donated his energy to the genki dama, would that have killed goku when jiren reversed it?

When goku jr turns ssj his tail still brown, but when he goes ssj3 his tail become gold. After this he was able to reach gold great ape
They never decided how to color SSJ tail.
Shallot also has golden tail, while Bardock and Cumber had brown tail as SSJ.
I think this one is all of our favorites

Well a few things.
1. Baby could control himself not because Vegeta was able to in Z, but because as Baby explains he only controls Vegeta’s body not his mind. Vegeta’s mind is what’s out of control, which is why Baby had no trouble controlling because it’s only the body that matters
2. We know that Golden Oozaru has to at least be 10x stronger than SSJ3 because Baby’s forms are actually variants of the first three Super Saiyan forms. So Super Baby 2 is SSJ3 Baby. And since SSJ3 Goku was equal to SSJ Baby, Golden Oozaru Goku was stronger than SSJ3 Baby even though just got 8x stronger from their last fight. So it is at least a 10x amp off of SSJ3

I think the reason why this ape transformation was different was because no one really turned ape after harnessing the super saiyan form. And goku having already acquired three stages made it possible for him to transcend.

I have a "longer" question to ask: In Gt, gokus "gone" and everyone Lives on. 100 years later all our heroes are dead (end of gt, gokus legacy special) and the only main characters are pan, goku jr and vegeta jr. But what happened to the Main cast? Yes they are dead but just in "our" world, what about "other world"? Theoratically all characters should be in heaven (like in the filler episodes in the buu saga). But only the "heroes" are supossed to keep their bodys, what would it look like? Vegeta, krillin, gohan etc. Keep their bodys and videl, chi chi and bulma etc. Are just "spirits", actually they helped to save the world serveal times to, especially bulma, anyways. And whats with goku? Could he be in contact with the other guys, whereever he and shenlong are? ... to get to the point: what exactly could had Happen? Are there any facts ore something else? It always amazed me that in the end of the "story", the main characters did not even "appear", except for goku. Ps: sorry for the long Text but it really interests me a lot. :)
I believe that that they are all in heaven, with their bodies. It would contradict DBZ if they aren't. But that's a great question, and a proper answer to it, we'll probably never get
There's nothing offical or unoffical about what happend. Most likely would be much of what you said. Though the bigger question is what happend to Goku jr's parents? Did something like an illness take them out? Especially to whoever his Saiyan Blooded parent maybe.
