I started doing this to all my rods a couple years ago. Started as a way to cover a repair on the cork on one of my Loomis rods, liked it so much I did all of my bass and panfish rods (not much trout or koke fishing in Texas) and most of my flyrods. The only rods that don’t get the flocking are ones with Winn Grips. This is easily one of the cheapest, best upgrades you can do for any angler.
Agree. And thanks for watching.
Awesome tutorial video! Now I'm going to wrap my cork rods
You'll be happy you did. Thanks for watching.
I bought some used rods with aftco handles that are all metal and very slick when tuna fishing live bait. Saw ur video and wrapped rods with same material u used. The handles are now non skid. Thanks
You're welcome
28mm, Thanks. I salvaged two of my dad's reels that rats had eaten the cork. Years before I had purchased 3/4." and had the same idea as you, but the shrink wrap I had was too small. I haven't looked for a larger shrink wrap, so I'll take your advice. Thanks again.
Great idea for covering old cork. Something like that might work for covering the end of ores also. Thanks for the videos!
Great 👌👍
Very informative
Thanks.
Thank you for the tips
Will make it easy to do too all my salmon rods
You're welcome.
Since this addiction is so powerful, shouldn't the Government provide treatment programs... where they give you clean, sharp hooks...and spools of line?
Absolutely! 😆
Nice excuse to buy two new rods. (Honey I'm doing a video) LOL
Yep. I bought her a Halibut rod for her 40th birthday. 😆
Overlapped wrapping is a great idea! Also how soft the grips are? Are they hard as plastic or they provide some softness?
I used regular heat shrink on my jump rope handles and it is not soft.
Soft lots of grip

Hey. I really in joy watching your videos. I just looked on Amazon for the heat shrink you used in this video? The 28mm bit I can't find any that size ? All that I can find is 20.25.30 and up. Can you possible send me the link that would be awesome,

I found the 25mm fits a little bit better. All depends on the rods, of course.
Hi, do the grips have any softness to them?
Yes. They're rubber. Easy to grip when wet or cold.
@@Northwestfishingfanatics I used regular heat shrink on my jump rope handles but they are not soft. That's why had the doubt!
Thank you!
linky for the rod grip material?
I purchased a few different brands from Amazon and they all seem to be pretty much the same quality.
Where do you buy your Shrink Wrap?
