This is what I'm talking about. You have blown all the fuss about sharpening BLADES out the window. I dare anyone to argue with your results. Thank goodness I saw this in time before getting suckered into spending some obnoxious amount of money on sharpening equipment. I already have a belt sander and a stone. THANK YOU SIR ! snap oilstone here to today their is to many people talking about plane and chisel sharpening and they haven't a clue look back 50 years and how we could do anything with planes and chisels and all we had was an oil stone same goes for Chippendale's cabinetmakers ? get the point you young lads its all about taking g you're money.

The main reason for high grit stones is to increase the surface finish so that less sanding is required after planing. Some people prefer that way.
