    This is what I'm talking about. You have blown all the fuss about sharpening BLADES out the window. I dare anyone to argue with your results. Thank goodness I saw this in time before getting suckered into spending some obnoxious amount of money on sharpening equipment. I already have a belt sander and a stone. THANK YOU SIR ! FOR TAKING THE TIME TO SHARE THIS WONDERFUL SHARPENING TECHNIQUE .

    The main reason for high grit stones is to increase the surface finish so that less sanding is required after planing. Some people prefer that way.

    snap oilstone here to today their is to many people talking about plane and chisel sharpening and they haven't a clue look back 50 years and how we could do anything with planes and chisels and all we had was an oil stone same goes for Chippendale's cabinetmakers ? get the point you young lads its all about taking g you're money.
