good video we need to show the right way to use tools I did my time from 1978 / 1982 was one of the last real apprentices then came the top scheme. was very very lucky to work under two men in there 50s 60s good old joiners taught me well . today I've been flattening some washita oil stones best thing for plane irons and chisels. please keep up the very clear and informative videos . pete
I have got a nice little smoothing plane that is rusty as anything - I will be refurbing it next. When I regrind and sharpen the plane blade I might just show the "figure of 8" method I was taught for putting a final sharp edge on the blade. We always used to figure of 8 them on the oilstone to get that almost invisible curve profile. Nowadays all I see is folks using the "pressure points" technique....
I have a set of record 3 4 4.12 5 .1/2 6 7 8 all stay set blades also full set of millers falls USA planes and some very early Stanley USA planes . also some infill planes moulding planes . and combination planes got a big shed full of them as a tight Yorkshire man they owe me nowt . nice work keep it up . pete
Fabulous Thanks so much. I will go and set up those planes in my back yard shed that have been sitting for years and now I hopefully will use them. Thanks again for the great video
