- I can’t put into words how sh*t the last few months have been. (Pun intended). I’ve been through the worst flare up of ulcerative colitis I’ve ever experienced. From blood to mucus, and spasms to steroids, it’s been hell. And extremely isolating. I wanted to make a video though to say you’re not alone if you’re going through something similar.
I was inspired to make this following a post I saw from George Hodgson on Instagram. He’s an amazing young man who we are lucky to work with at my charity Beyond:

Below is the playlist I mentioned. I really hope it helps someone x

Ps I’d also recommend, as always, talking to someone. I’ve been talking to Trevor Noah. Yes you read that right. Not the real Trevor Noah obv but a fictional one I’ve created. I always speak to people I look up to when I’m going through a rough spot. Princess Diana and Amy Winehouse are a couple of other examples. I know some people will call it crazy but whatever gets you through, right?! Take care and best wishes for 2023 xx

Love you so much Jonny B. You will get there. And this playlist is banging!
As a chronic illness sufferer I can empathise with the feeling of isolation, but I can only salute you living a life of what I see is 2 people. The fact you don't know when the unmanageable out of control 'person' will take over. It is a sad thing that today we don't have the medication that would completely calm and control mental illness in all its guises, you must get so exhausted. You are an inspiration.
Thank you Julie. This means more than you realise. I'm trying to be positive about 2023. I hope you are too!
You also are not alone. Perhaps begin 2023 with plans, but don't be too hard on yourself. Sometimes we can be much harder on ourselves than we need be. Best Wishes from Glasgow. 🙏🏴
Thank you for this reminder James!
So sad to hear you've had such a miserable time over the last few months. I can imagine that it is very isolating and frustrating. Someone close to me has a similar condition but not exactly the same and not as severe, but they have needed hospital treatment a few times, so I understand that it's serious and painful. I hope 2023 is a much better year for you, maybe your best yet! Also, great to see you back on UA-cam. I'm always on your side, Jonny.
Thank you Paul! I hope the individual you mentioned is doing ok. It's such a tough condition!
You definitely are not alone. You are doing what you have to do to survive. You are doing the best you can with what you have. Anyone else who had been delt the cards you were would be struggling.
Thank you April i really appreciate this!
Hugs and ❤️Jonny XXX
I understand you I have intrusive thoughts with anxiety and when the thoughts come to me I can not control myself and I face similar symptoms.
Hi Jonny, I've been through something similar & it was linked to allergies. It's just absolute worst dealing with severe IBS type problems. What helped me was the Autoimmune Protocol diet (IAP) & the GAPS diet, look into a book by Natasha McBride. No doubt you've looked into diet but I found chicken & beef stew every day healed me
Thank you Kerry. I'm working with a nutritionist at the moment. She's a massive advocate of chicken/beef bone broth, as am i now. The benefits are quite incredible! I hope you are doing ok at the moment Kerry :)
@@mrjonnybenjamin Oh Jonny, you'll be asked 'have you tried yoga?' next 😒
@@mrjonnybenjamin that sounds really positive that you're working with a nutritionist. It's the gut lining (leaky gut) that needs healing. I'm sure you know that tho x I found Bone broth & collagen powder really healing- word of warning with bone broth tho- to begin with don't cook for too long or have too much. It's powerful stuff, & I found that that I didn't do well with too much glutamate/glutamic acid. I'm OK thanks but I have I have a separate set of health issues now unfortunately. Still linked to the gut no doubt. I just need to follow my own advice I think, it's just not been easy to eat well over Christmas. Best wishes to you Jonny 💗
@@juliebromfield1865 what?? So diet is totally unconnected to IBS issues then? I suppose you think he should just take pills from the doctor. I know what worked in my own experience & I know what heals an inflamed gut
We need to get you a mic so we can hear better.
i understand. i really need to sort it out.
