Like you I’m reducing my tulips this year but I’m obsessed with ranunculus. I’ve saved a lot of corms from last year that I have begun pre sprouting but I’ve spent a small fortune on new corms again this year😱I’ve now got a large greenhouse on my allotment so it’s my first year to grow some in there it will be interesting to see the difference as some will be outside. I just grow flowers for the fun of it and love doing arrangements for friends and family. Love your videos as our climate is very similar I’m in N W England ☔️💦
@@janetleach2421 I grew ranunculus in my green once, much taller, but I had trouble with green fly, and honestly I’m a bit worried that may be a problem in my tunnel, as there were green flies in there this season. I bet you will have a gorgeous display, very exciting for you. I can’t risk spending to much on ranunculus, as he voles think they are a very tasty treat 🌸
Oh Suzanne, - gorgeous bulbs. I am like you in that I always go mad bulb buying in August, - imagining how gorgeous the garden will look in Spring. Many years I am disappointed as the mice/squirrels always take most of them. This yer I've put my bulbs in pots and am protecting them in a cloche. I open the cloches in the day and shut them safely in before it gets dark. So far it's working. I am keeping a keen eye on overnight temperatures ready to take my dahlias in to the workshop ready for prepping for storage. I could have sworn I'd ordered some dutch Iris but I haven't got them, so obviously not. I should check back on my emails to see if I have an invoice. Great video Suzanne. happy gardening 🙂
Oh I am sure you still have time to order some iris 😉. I am going to plant my Tulips deeper this year, as sometimes I just think I make it to easy for the squirrels. I really hope you are rewarded with a beautiful spring display having put in such a huge effort with your bulbs. I think I might get to work on the Dahlias at the weekend, happy gardening 🌸
@@stemsbysuzanneCheers Suzanne. Happy gardening 🙂 Hi Suzanne, I did order some iris. I ordered them from J Parkers. I have had an email from them stating teh bulbs will be dispatched soon- I'm excited!
Haven't planted my bulbs yet...Didn't go mad this year as I seem to forget that you actually have to plant them 😂 Last year planted loads of tulips 😊and they either they rotted or the mice ate them....
If you condition the Alliums for a day they won't have the smell anymore. The smell is in the stems right after you cut them. I bought drumstick alliums this year and am hoping they do well for me!!😊
My customers do not change the water enough, so the water smells and they complain 🙈. I used my drumstick alliums for a wedding this year and they looked great 👍 happy growing 🌸
Hi Suzanne well I have to confess I do like to order bulbs just like the seeds. Those catalogues, well they certainly do tempt you. I have no idea where they are going to be planted but they will. I normally pre sprout the ranuncs but will try the same as you see how it goes. I have some (hopefully) very pretty strawberries and cream anemone's I've not grown before fingers crossed they do well. When would you recommend planting tulip bulbs is it better when its much colder or does it not really matter? Have a great week lets hope it's a little drier.
I get so excited planting bulbs and the thought of what they'll look like when they come up every year.
Absolutely, such a show, they put on for us 🌸 something to really look forward to 😊

Squirrels ate a lot of the ones I had in containers last year, wishing you bulb success 🌸

Those Anenomes sound lovely, it is hard not to be tempted by the pretty catalogue pictures 😊. I plant my tulips mid to late November, happy growing 🌸
I planted my tulips too early and it looks like ive planted the alliums upside down!
We have all done it 😊 your Alliums will probably still flower, they will just work a little harder to find up🌸 happy growing
