Side note on buying bulbs: don't forget to shop your local independent garden center for fall planting bulbs. They really need this revenue stream as planting season slows. And plant all the shrubs you can in fall. It's kinder on your plants as the soil cools. 😊
You have me absolutely addicted to your videos. I can’t wait to see them each day. Thank you for all you do. I am in Georgia zone 7b but you inspire me to get out in my yard and do something. I am battling leukemia and I am in treatment with the hopes of remission in about a year so I only have a few days a week that I feel like working but every day I do I watch you and get my motivation. Again Thank You!!!!
You could make a poster size copy of your poem and water color the picture, and frame it for your office or house. Project? I think you should have read the poem. Your such a good story teller 🌞
Great video, as always, Janey. I was wondering if you thought about sound proofing your studio walls with heavy curtains (for example) to make your sound less echoey when recording there. I know you have a lot going on already with the new house.
I’m actually going to my local Costco today! Which is 45 minutes away! 😂 I’ll have to see what they have! When I first moved here (2 years ago this weekend!) I knew nothing about gardening and I planted bulbs in spring and was so disappointed nothing happened and then next spring they popped up lol I eventually searched zone 9b gardening and found your channel. I’ve learned sooooo much from watching your videos! Thanks for helping me earn my green thumb!😊I just love it now and still learning 💚
Will be gorgeous! Can't wait to see where you plant and how well they come up in Spring. I have a LOT of deer pressure, so most bulbs don't work for me. They grow (zone 6b), but most just became sacrificial offerings to the deer (especially tulips). So, now I only grow iris and daffodils since deer don't like. So far, so good.
Janey, your video was chock full of valuable information. I rarely plant bulbs as I am in 10b and don’t have an extra fridge to pre-chill bulbs. In the past, I’ve planted ranunculus, anemones and amaryllis. Now that I’ve seen your video, I’m thinking of trying daffodils and bearded iris too. I love that you focus on higher zones, which is rare in UA-camland.
Love you sooo much Janey, you are such a great influencer,,, thank you for sharing such wonderful videos, for all this things! And Jason’s reaction “PRICELESS “ Love four of you’ll!
You got a few daffodils that I had ordered from Colorsblend. I’m excited to see how yours do and compare to how mine does here in Georgia. FYI if you want your tulips to bloom longer, go out in the early morning before the sun comes up and overhead water them. When I lived in Ohio and did this and my tulips was still fresh looking well into May. Now while Ohio doesn’t get as hot as California or Georgia definitely believe this technique would help your bloom and stay fresh looking long. Much success❤
I plant roughly 3,000 to 4,000 bulbs a year. I order a number from Colorblends, and for those of you in the warmer zones they will pre-chill your bulbs and send them to you when it’s the right time to plant. It’s a great affordable resource for large quantities of bulbs. I live in zone 6a, but treat my tulips as annuals as they do not come back reliably.
Thank you so much for your daily posts. I look forward each morning to watching your video while I have my coffee and breakfast wrap. I really appreciate your informative channel. I feel more connected to you because we also have hot dry summers here in Oklahoma. It’s hard to feel connected to the northern gardeners who get lots of rain.
If you ever have questions about amaryllis i will say daniel with northlawn flower farm really gives/has great information on her channel. I cant wait to get my bulbs i have around 600 coming as long as they dont get canceled or hopefully substituted w something similar to the ones i ordered
I just love planting bulbs! Seeing drifts of daffodils is always a joy for me no matter where they are coming up! Love your office set up and glad you are enjoying your new digs!
Oh my, sweet girl!!! You are gonna be very busy planting.. i like a lot of your other followers cant wait until next Spring to see all of your flowers. Its gonna look great. 😉
New to gardening and new subscriber. I need to learn from someone who gardens in same zone and you are that one. I live in eastbay inland zone 9b and whatever plants you recommend should work for me. I bought cuphea and lambs ear after seeing one of your video already though its quite late in season. Today after seeing this video i ran to costco for those bulbs. They were mostly out but i got couple of bags. I will wait for a video showing how to plant bulbs. I am learning so much. Thank you Janey.
We planted our daffodil bulbs in October and our Iris rhizomes. Home Depot here sells king Alford the large daffodils. When does Costco sell there daffodil bulbs. Love how they naturalize.
Love this as I am a 9er too in the San Joaquin Valley. I now order my flowers from PW Direct as finding them locally is hard. I can get a couple sometimes, but they are hit and miss. My local nursery brands don’t carry them at all, sadly. Enjoy your garden and soak up this weather. I’m loving these cool down days.
Thank you so much for all this wonderful information. I live in Melbourne Australia and it’s now 1st day of spring. I was wondering why my first ever tulips were short and little weird looking flowers. Must not get cold enough here with our winters for tulips to just go in the ground, at least I’ll know for next year to put them in a fridge. It will now be interesting to see if my hyacinths will flower. My crocus, snowflakes and daffodils are all flowering.
Thanks for this really informative video! I've been looking at bulbs on the Breck's website, but was fretting over buying 30 bulbs. Then I saw how many you purchased, and laughed at my hesitation for 30, LOL! Thanks for helping (enabling) me, haha! I purchased the jumbo bulbs in yellow. I lost my beloved sister-in-law this past December, and yellow tulips were her favorite, so I hope that in the spring I will have a lovely flowering tribute to her in my garden.💐
My 23 yo Dtr wants a rainbow color Rosegarden and I explained that green and true blue roses won’t work so we agreed that other plants will work I just got delivery of bearded iris from schriners iris!!!! Lovey colors!!!!
1st 🙋🏻♀️ time planting bulbs and went with daffodils & ranunculus then was scrambling as I didn’t know what to do. Janey, thx for sharing your knowledge and tips!!
Your part on Irises made me think to tell you, have you been to the iris farm in Loomis? It's down the road from me and it's AMAZING around mothers day!
Great tips Janey. I live in Boise, ID Zone 6b...no chilling necessary here for sure!!😅 regardless, I'm not really too familiar with planting bulbs and your tips are very helpful. I was at costco yesterday and was looking at their bulbs, but I was on a mission for something else, so I passed...I'll be going back today! I want to try allium, let you know how that turns out. Love your videos. Looking forward to your next adventures!
I remember seeing your tall alliums at your previous home and thought, wow, I need to get some of those. Just ordered them and can't wait to see them in my garden next year. I am in zone 6A, NE Ohio. Hope they bloom later than early.
So glad I found your channel. I'm sacramento I believe that's also zone 9b too. I'm preparing my yard for flowers and I'm kind of lost at what to plant during September. Your channel is very helpful. Btw when is the best time to plant Lisianthus?
This comment has nothing to do with this video, but in one of your videos, I believe with Robbie, you were discussing Vitex trees and wondered if there was a smaller size. There is a Vitex from PW called Blue Diddley. They are quite small at 3-6 ft tall and wide. Absolutely love that size for a small garden. I am going to be planting 3 of them as patio trees. I live in Phx, AZ, Zone 9B.
So excited to see you fixing up this new property!!! I need help in the bulb dept. I fill my flowerbeds with whatever. I like them full, not much dirt showing. So you have to have blank spots for bulbs, right? And when they are done do you just have blank space till next year.... or dig them up (I would not do that, I'm old). I couldn't live with a blank space and I know you do not either. Please enlighten me (does everyone know this already). I love that you overbuy. I'm going to Costco if you can tell me where to put the bulbs, lol.
Bulbs are great tucked in among plants that have a spreading canopy of leaves to avoid bare spots. Like I have daffodils in little clumps mixed with my daylilies, and the daylily foliage comes up to cover the daffodil foliage as it fades. If you want the big dramatic beds of bulbs, though, then you probably need to dig them up or plant shallow rooted annuals over them.
Hi Janey 🌺 . Good information about bulbs plants . Now you have alarge space and you can plants maney tulips and daffodilsand they will be amazing in your garden . Have awonderful day .🌺🌻🌺
I just ordered ranunculus from Longfield. Great prices! This is my first time planting bulbs (I'm zone 10b) and I can't wait. Thanks for the info Janey!!
Thank you so much for sharing! I just grabbed the daffodil and allium mix online from Costco. I can't wait to see how you incorporate these into your landscape :)
Just bought my bulbs from Costco!!! Ranunculus, daffodils and iris’ going in raised garden beds due to gophers. 90 ranunculus, 80 iris, 50 double daffodils 🌼 ❤
Great video! I'm off to my Costco to see what I can find. Note...keep your varmints in mind. Last year, all my landscape tulips were eaten by the voles, deer, squirrels, etc. Very expensive lesson learned! The ones I had in pots and raised beds did fine. This year, I'm sticking with the daffodils, ranunculus, anemones and alliums for the landscape.🌷M
I can't wait to see these bloom in the Spring. I planted bulbs for the first-time last year and now I want to plant them all but have a very small space. Good tip on ordering early. I have already placed my order with Colorblends and found a few more from Eden Brothers. Can't wait to get them in the ground.
I love bulb season!! Tulips are hands down my favorite flower. I have a wish list of all the bulbs I want now, thank you Janey! I’m heading to Costco now 😂
Daffodils are my favorite and unfortunately, I cannot grow them in S E Florida. So sad. I have to rely on Trader Joe's for daffy bouquets. Your garden is going to be awesome.
Anoyher thubg bulbs are a rabbit favorite you have to make sure to protect them ..i know im 9b in clemont fl and literally i have lost all my bulbs bc of the rabbits.if nit you will give them an all you can eat buffet😊
I’m Spanish, living in the Mediterranean coast, so our weather is extremely hot and dry. I’ve been planting ranunculus for years and I’ve never had good luck with them… now I know why 😅😅😅
Thanks for sharing all this information!!! This will be my first year planting bulbs. I’m in zone 7b. I now know some bulbs need to be prechilled.. but can I just prechill all my bulbs? Even ones that don’t have to be?
Amaryllis stay in the ground and multiply like crazy here in South Carolina. I have a large bed of them, especially the reds! Zone 8b. Daffodils also multiply ❤
Hey Janey, great video! I’m ordering my bulbs today, so your video really interested me. I know you said you have ground squirrels now…you might keep an eye out when planting your bulbs our gray squirrels here in Seattle often dig mine up and chomp on them. Just a thought. 🐿
I really shoot for a 'fireworks' effect when planting...when one flower grouping starts dying back another grouping is coming up in bulbs and in flowering plants - with some overlap of course. I like interest throughout the year (including berries and winter interested)
I live in santa rosa zone 9b like you and my hyacinths come back every year in the ground. I actually planted a bunch of clearance ones I got last year in December and they all came up. Tulips are less reliable though. I think it depends on the variety. I've a couple that come up every year. Another variety I bought from the dollar store didn't come up for a couple of year but it came up last year. I'm going to experiment with planting early blooming varieties in the ground and see how it goes this year. It's too much work to dig them up every year 😅
Janie the pink and blush impression tulips from Costco are fantastic! Tried n true. Used them last few years in pots, beautiful. How will you decide where to put all the bulbs, all that space I wouldn't know where to begin...can only imagine what a display this spring!
I enjoyed seeing your choices for this year. You should definitely check out Southern Bulb Company. They have a large selection of heirloom bulbs that are reliable for higher growing zones. Have a great day.
What are your thoughts about a LIVING WALL in the corner behind your video space? I think Red, green, yellow, & variegated leafed plants would look spectacular!! Not sure how much maintenance it would be to keep looking fresh & healthy. Happy Journey ❤❤❤
Side note on buying bulbs: don't forget to shop your local independent garden center for fall planting bulbs. They really need this revenue stream as planting season slows. And plant all the shrubs you can in fall. It's kinder on your plants as the soil cools. 😊

You could plant lots of daffodils under your fruit trees. It would be beautiful!
Paint with daffodils, decide if you want a certain color and "paint" away.
You could make a poster size copy of your poem and water color the picture, and frame it for your office or house. Project? I think you should have read the poem. Your such a good story teller 🌞
Hi everyone who's excited to to watch this video? My favourite garden youtube channel.
Me, as far away as in Vienna Austria. I bought bulbs yesterday. Great advice today. 😍
Wow, spring is going to be blooming!! That’s a lot of holes to dig, you’ll need to invite Robbie for planting party lol
It is YOUR STUDIO…office and all!! ❤❤❤
Suggestion: changing picture beside you to 'Dig Plant Water Repeat' would be lovely.
The thespace at your new place will be dancing in color!
Love the poem. I'm going to decoupage it on something for Easter time.
Jenny at Creekside is having the company prechill hers for $30.00!
You can definitely call your SPACE a “ STUDIO “ . A place where an Artist edits videos. Film’s beautiful landscapes . A workspace for Garden Art . ❤️
Office sounds like work where as STUDIO sounds like Creative Space .. 😂
Great video, as always, Janey. I was wondering if you thought about sound proofing your studio walls with heavy curtains (for example) to make your sound less echoey when recording there. I know you have a lot going on already with the new house.
Watched your video, stopped halfway, and drove straight to Costco. Got some alliums, and tulips!!!
I’m actually going to my local Costco today! Which is 45 minutes away! 😂 I’ll have to see what they have! When I first moved here (2 years ago this weekend!) I've also switched to daffodils, because the squirrels leave them alone. I've discovered there are so many varieties!
Deer 🦌 don’t like alliums either
Janey, your video was chock full of valuable information. I rarely plant bulbs as I am in 10b and don’t have an extra fridge to pre-chill bulbs. Love this channel. Good morning from Corpus Christ, Texas!
Same here. Good Evening from Fiji.🇫🇯
Same rules of chilling also apply to garlic. I live in FL zone 9b and I have to chill my garlic in the refrigerator for around 10 - 12 weeks.
Wow. I live in FL zone 9b as well. Thank you for the tip.
I recently got a membership to Costco. I’m excited to see if my Costco has bulbs.
Love you sooo much Janey, you are such a great influencer,,, thank you for sharing such wonderful videos, for all this things!
And Jason’s reaction “PRICELESS “
Love four of you’ll!
The video I needed! I bought a bunch yesterday from Costco because I love them too and they grow wonderful in my zone 9 in Houston❤ Gracias!!!!

I saw that in their catalog, but here in the south seeing we don’t get cold weather for a lengthy time. I don’t want to have to dig up 😂
I ordered from Colorblends last year and was very disappointed on the bulb quality.
Those many bulbs! Do you collect them at the end of the year?
@@inspiringgardenkornerI know you right, zone 8b. I'll stay with daffodils and others that can handle the heat. They come back for me.
I was in the garden center today (to get some potting soil) .. I got the soil and some bulbs. 😅 Let´s plant! hugs from Germany
Thank you so much for your daily posts. I look forward each morning to watching your video while I have my coffee and breakfast wrap. I really appreciate your informative channel. Oh that is so sweet! You should definitely buy the bulbs. You will love seeing them when they pop up in the spring. It will be such a good reminder! 💗
I have to THANK you for this! I learn so much from you. I live in 9B but learned of you from my adult kids in SoCal!!!!
My 23 yo Dtr wants a rainbow color Rosegarden and I explained that green and true blue roses won’t work so we agreed that other plants will work I just got delivery of bearded iris from schriners iris!!!! Lovey colors!!!!
If you haven’t tried the Gardenia Daffodil, you should! They are very fragrant, I bought mine from Breck’s.
Thank you for sharing all the information on bulbs
1st 🙋🏻♀️ time planting bulbs and went with daffodils & ranunculus then was scrambling as I didn’t know what to do. Janey, thx for sharing your knowledge and tips!!
Thanks for this! Zone 7b is the same really! Not cold enough to plant without pre- chilling!!!
You can put regular kitchen onions 🌰 in the garden too. White blooms from those
We are headed to Costco on Sunday….I hope they have the bulbs in stock!!!
Your spring gardens will be spectacular! Can’t wait to see them.
Your part on Irises made me think to tell you, have you been to the iris farm in Loomis? It's down the road from me and it's AMAZING around mothers day!
No!!! Thank for you telling me about this!
Thank you for the timely reminder! I ordered more alliums, daffodils, and iris. I wish the squirrels and deer would leave my tulips alone.
You just jump started me! I now have 50 assorted daffodils to get in the ground. (Western PA Master Gardener)
Thank you for sharing all these great ideal about planting bulbs. I’m in California as well. So I will follow your lead .
Happy Gardening 🪴

Oh good to know I think I will go check it out tomorrow.
I remember seeing your tall alliums at your previous home and thought, wow, I need to get some of those. Just ordered them and can't wait to see them in my garden next year. I am in zone 6A, NE Ohio. Hope they bloom later than early.
I'm so glad to hear that bearded iris do well here. I have a big order in with Schreiner's. Can't wait to see them bloom!! 😊
So glad I found your channel. I'm sacramento I believe that's also zone 9b too. I'm preparing my yard for flowers and I'm kind of lost at what to plant during September. Your channel is very helpful.
Btw when is the best time to plant Lisianthus?
You have a big empty field in front, make a design to put bulbs around edges with supertunia, in middle put fountain❤
I simply adore your new studio/office❤❤
This was helpful! I would add some color behind you to accentuate your beautiful face. ❤
Nice 👍
This is such wonderful and useful information. Your blooming bulbs are going to be amazing!
Very informative video …. I’m in zone 9b, so this was perfect… I have never tried bulbs before
So glad Im up around the same time these videos get posted such a treat to a long day! 🤗✨
Excellent video. Very informative! Pre chilling lips right now 🏃♀️.
Great informative video, thank you. I need to get bulb shopping 🌷🌷🌷
Excited to try planting bulbs this year, I’ve never done it before.
Those amaryllis are beautiful, I had them at the other house! I don't know if I got any out 😟
This comment has nothing to do with this video, but in one of your videos, I believe with Robbie, you were discussing Vitex trees and wondered if there was a smaller size. I've never called my bulbs. I am in zone 8b and have terrific results each year. Guess I'm Lucy. :O Loved the video, excited for spring!
Thank you so much for sharing! I just grabbed the daffodil and allium mix online from Costco. I can't wait to see how you incorporate these into your landscape :)
Oh I saw the Costco bulbs! Almost bought it but didn't knew what to do with 😅 Zone 9a Texas
Thank you! I learned so much!😊

I can't wait to see these bloom in the Spring. I planted bulbs for the first-time last year and now I want to plant them all but have a very small space. Good tip on ordering early. I have already placed my order with Colorblends and found a few more from Eden Brothers. Can't wait to get them in the ground.
It is really going to be beautiful
A little white caulk would be good in your corner behind you in your office filming space…..
My 350 gentle giant tulips were gorgeous last year.
I already have my order in for this year.
I love bulb season!! Tulips are hands down my favorite flower. I have a wish list of all the bulbs I want now, thank you Janey! I’m heading to Costco now 😂
Wonderful helpful information I learned a lot! I live in Petaluma naked ladies are everywhere. I’m going to Costco tomorrow! Thank you! Zone 9b

Hope you have a drill as it will make planting so much easier and faster. Happy Planting. IF you have deer they love tulip blooms,
She may learn how much 🐿️ love the bulbs.
daffodils are poisonous to squirrels. At least tree squirrels

I enjoyed seeing your choices for this year. You should definitely check out Southern Bulb Company. They have a large selection of heirloom bulbs that are reliable for higher growing zones. Have a great day.
