  • Again a warm welcome for this one.The Uctkam engines ware made in the Minsk technical military factory for the.."DOSAAF" Central sport club. The Russians, special Ukraine, made a lot nice engines in the past.(MK-17,Marz,Rhytm..??.) But the final quality control was not always as best in the past as it shoud be.Today there are the top engines of the world.
How ever,if you stick to some golden rules about older russian engines, and you are a bit handy too,you can get you a nice runer....for a good deal. The KMD and MK-17 have proofed, that they are not bad at al.But either you love the russian engines or hate them....Wel,I like to give it always a second chance!
The engine from 1975 showing in the clip is the mk1,output: 0,25 kw at 15,500rpm
In 1976 came the Uctkam KR 2,5 (see my other clip) ....wel thats a engine!!! -The engine I own is a diesel version, what was not sell officialy. It was converted by this diesel head.It look very nice and profecional done.Even the collor of the head matchto the lovely spinner and ventury .I asume, somebody from the factory made this heads. But I have no sure answer, where this dieselheads are made. This diesel engine is not a individual engine.I saw the diesel moore then one time. The Uctkam KR glow deliver a impressive 0,7kw at 30,000rpm with resopipe!
In 1979 were there also the Uctkam 3,2cc (DRU) diesel similar to this model, too as a compression ignition engine. It looks very similar to the Mk1.Again the diference is the rearcover, with 4 screws boltet to the crankcase.Output:0,26kw at16.000rpm
In 1983 came the Uctkam 2,5 D 2. It was a pure competition engine with updraft rear induction, like the Nelson and used mostly only in F-2 C by russian competition teams. Output: 0,37kw at 20.000 rpm!!
This engine is hard to find,as it was only given to a smal circel of the comp.teams of the former USSR.
In 1984 came the Uctkam 2,5 D- 3 on the market. It looks similar too the Uctkam 1,but have the rearcover secured by 4 srews instead a srewed round type on the early model..
The type 3 have a output of: 0,295kw at 18500 rpm.
In 1981 appear on the market the shortstroke 1,5 Uctkam. Those are a bit heavy squere engines with a steel black front shaft housing, design mostly for modelcars.Never less the heavy weight, they perform moore than outstanding.Made in glow and diesel versions.
Output of tuned glow version with the org.resopipe:0,4kw at 28,000+ rpm!!? If I get my books right ........Back to the rebuild story..
I get this old (ab)used engine in a not so good condition. It was acually compleet, but I am not sure,if he was a runner. If he was a runner,it shoud be a pain to start him. It was bad,as the timing was to much away and the compression down to less than50% with the leaking of the carter also make it not easyer at al.And I dont even speak about smal things like a bad working spraybar or needel or other minor things.
But I was surpriced, how nice the cilinder ports look.I speak about the windows in it. It could be a Supertigre G15 RV....wel maeby the send a spy to Italy??
But al in al,I think, when I saw the internal parts, that the engine shoud be perform wel,if oh if only,.... everything work,as it shoud work. The manual writes down 15000-16000 rpm depend on propsize and output of 0,34 kw (thanks for that info Pavel!)
At the first start I got also a bit troubel to get him fire up. But the piston was a bit tight, not free up yet,I must find the right settings, and I also drill out the orginal venturi from 3,80 to 4,50 mm.I drill those microscopic smal holes in the ventury ring bigger, where the fuel mix with air.As I got now less vacum,I must compensate that too.The new cone I make help to generate a higher vacum. The engine starts and runs fine right away.
Just cant wait, for the 'big run" with a smaler prop. That shoud be very interresting!
The engine is not compleet free up,and run now 10,000 rpm.But the Uctkam need a smaler prop to use al his potential,as its not a longstroke engine.Boore is 15mm/stroke 14mm.Maeby even a 7x6 prop can be a good one! (only after run in very wel)
I am very happy,I buy the engine from Pavel. Thanks!! And also this rebuild go so perfect, easyer than the smal Jon 0,30 diesel 2 weeks ago. When I had the Uctkam conrod in my hand,I think...JEZUS what a huge conrod!! It looks, like its right away from the Titanics engine,so big!!....... But ofcourse,.... its a upside world.......the Jon was just Sooooooo smal! :-)
Thanks for your time and interrest.I dont show al the neccesery steps what I do,but only some big fragments here, its a long story anyway.....
Moore stuff soon here,..... on my channel!
** Thanks for ratings and coments**

You have great machining skill! I wish I had a lathe. But it is great fun working on engines. Thank you for the lesson!

Looking forward to it Peter. Great to have the skills of a machinist. Hopefully soon I will find a lathe of my own. I am currently shopping around now for a used one now.
Looking forward to your diesel engine video. Thanks - Jack

    Excuse me.
Engine СSTKAM 2.5 D designed and began series production in 1975.
I put on a model F2d engines from the first batch in 1975. Channels in the cylinder were several others.

Thanks Marcin!I hope to try a smal prop, but the thread in the spinner is not perfect.I love to see him run at high rpm..

Thanks for the video.. I have ordered a MK 12 V 2.46cc engine. Would you recommend a prop size and a break in procedure. Also what diameter is the prop shaft? Thanks again.

Good luck with the hunt!! I wil buy one if I was you with thread cutting device...Sometimes are the older.what is not abused better than the new chinees stuff. But I am sure you wil find somthing. I akso look fo a bigger one. The Emco Unimaat is a watchmaker laith.Very precise.but only for smal stuff.Maeby the Emco 5 wil be nice. Its good quality.

Thanks David!Cant wait to dress the engine up with a suitabel prop..I put now also some techn. data about the engine in the text some where,as I get it later.I hope to beat the numbers,as the ligther piston, changed exhaust timing and a bigger ventury shoud be make differents.

Many thanks for reaction.I am very interrested in russian engines.I finaly won on ebay 2 older russian books about model engines...and finaly,i get moore info. There were much moore versions, than I know. And like you say, correct, this is a 1975 model. The later has a rearcover with 4 srewes. There was even a 3,2 diesel.I hope you like my channel...still moore engine rebuilds and runs too come.
The Uctkam factory is wel known .This Uctkam was a very good sports engine.Light & powerful.

(z.b. OS Max oder ein Enja vergaser)
