I have one of these engines, and it will only start with a starter, however, it really runs well after that, and puts out a lot of power.

I am glad to hear that you also use an electric starter on a diesel that is very hard to start. People are horrified when the see me reach for my starter, but sometimes it is the only way. I can not say that I have ever damaged one because I am always careful to avoid hydraulic lock.

Hey David! Thanks for clip.I am surpriced, because if he is tuned wel,he screams very loud! My uctcam latest model, the red head, have also this huge ventury, what makes it hard to start and adjust. As a taemracer he shoud have a smal ventury to save fuel as this is ,whats count on teamracing. But al in al ,a real screamer!

Thanks for that. I must remember to tighten the collect before I run it the next time. It is a little weird the way it moves back and forth: like it is trying to find the correct setting. Then again at those revs everything on the bench was moving.

I also inserted a tube into the Venturi to help fuel draw. Any ideas much appreciated.

Hi David, great video! I have exactly the same Uctkam engine and have never got it started. Hasn’t fired once. Can you let me know your needle valve setting please? I’ve copied the approximate position of the compression lever from your video but no luck so far. Any help much appreciated. Cheers, Anthony.

Southern Sawyer 's Hello mate, I think any decent off the shelf Diesel fuel should be fine. If your engine is new use a mix with more castor oil while you run it in, then you can move up to the hotter fuels. No luck with mine so it’s still in the garage. I’m sure you’ll have better luck with yours.

You need to put some silicon tube over the needle valve screw this will stop the airleaks and stop the needle moving . Also you can make a priming fuel with more ether I use 80% easy start with 30% D1000

Really bad story when RC modeller gets a diesel in his hands! Pure torturing for engine and us.

My heart sinks when I see people using electric starters on Diesels. Typical of those who do not understand the "feel" of these engines. Oh, god; I've just noticed him using pliers to adjust the compression!

The engine doesn’t know what is turning it over ! I bet you spend hours trying to get your engines going . And yes I do know what I’m talking about .
