I can’t believe there’s only one 1/72 kit of the F-35C.
The Orange Model kit is complete with wingfold & some etch, but where’s a simple Revell or Italeri for an inflight display? Same for 1/48th.

I built the A variant a few months ago and YES! It really is a great kit!.
Yep going to get a couple of these on release but as others have said I am really hoping for the C model in time.I have built the A model and the engineering on that kit is just superb.

The A kit was amazing. I’m not a huge fan of the B, and hadn’t planned on buying this (inevitable) release. Until I saw this video, that is. WANT. And yeah, like another commenter below, I hope they do a C!

I'm sure the kit is excellent, but the RAM is overcooked like the A version. It's very frustrating.
Too many single use plastic bags! Come on industry, why are you so far behind?!
Completely unaffordable.
It's the same size, dimensionally, as an F-16. Yet we have gone from a 40 dollar F-16C.50 to a 78 dollar F-35A to a 115 dollar F-35B in a period of a year for the addition of a few STOVL doors and nozzles in a new upper fuselage. Plus a flimsy looking stand.
The sad part is that the Tamiya kit does all the things right which the Kitty Hawk and Italeri got wrong (integrated fuselage/wings, nose) and likely has a fantastic fit and assembly process as well as better fidelity of scale detail.
But it's still, with shipping, going to be THREE TIMES the price of a Tamiya Viper. And more than 20 dollars higher than a Tamiya 1/48 F-4B with likely double the parts count. This is price gouging based on 'latest thing' interest in the newest stealth fighter.
Weapons wise, there is no AGM-179 JAGM. No AIM-132 ASRAAM. No Meteor. No Paveway IV. No SPEAR-3. No JSM. No GBU-38/54. No AARGM-ER. No GBU-60 JDAM-ER. No AAM-4/5.
Ordnance makes the jet and helps differentiate the markings option operators. Yet the weapons choices here are not definitively different from the F-35A nor specifically appropriate for either a modern USMC, RN, MM OR JMSDF aircraft.

What are those holes in the RAM tape on the top of the fuselage.....I can't see them in photos of the real thing?

Composite fasteners. Like very large, friction lock, bolts acting as panel fasteners to the RAM appliques but are non-metallic.
They actually rest within the RAM frames.
Once installed, this screw head depression receives a layer of RAM surface coating putty material to 'level' the impedance values (electric charge differentials which might 'trap' a surface wave long enough to shed a return) between fastener and surrounding RAM structures (which themselves are _not_ 'tape' but more like a lattice frame). The use of fasteners allows these panel RF seals to be removed from frequently accessed inspection panels, with the help of some goodbye-RAM-putty solvent to expose the screw head again.
Properly applied, the RAM sealant is flush with the RAM structural fairing/fitting but it is sometimes visible under Top Coat, due to the difference in surface texture between the putty and molded surrounds. You can see their outline in some closeup photos.

It pains me to see the overdone radar absorbent tapes on its back... Also why the rivets? :O They are applied for the exact reason to hide the rivets...
Yes, I noticed those "rivet" holes in the RAM tape. Can't see them in photos of the real thing....is that an error by Tamiya? If so that is unusual for that manufacturer.
Cover with the primer, polish out excess, easy job.
Rivets? What friggin’ rivets? Primer will cover it, polish out excess, done!.come on people, next complain will be the kit did not put itself together as it was being pulled out of the plastic bag.
Hope it's a good fit. If you need to fill and sand fuselage joins good luck with that surface detail. 🤞🏻
