So I have the animal 2. We have medium pile carpet on both floors of the house and I don’t struggle to push or pull it at all. I think where it does this is when the carpet fibers are very tightly woven together, or very densely knitted. It does my hallway area rug just fine as well. It won’t do the smaller area rug, but it’s a very plush high pile rug. It could also have to do with the backing. After reading reviews, I thought it would only work on a low-pile to no-pile carpet, which just isn’t the case in my experience. We have a normal average popular type of carpet from Lowe’s upstairs and a patterned medium-knit carpet downstairs. The hallway rug is a very tight knit low pile. Perhaps it’s a combination of the pile and fiber density.

@@timconnell9587 If you could leave your machine on for 45 mins to an hour and then check again. While you are using the hose and attachment cleaning the floor. I typically spend 2 to 3 hours vacuuming my large home. You can smell the dirt leaking. If you have the same dirt, then yours is leaking and your particle meter isn't working properly or needs a calibration. You can't look at the dirt leakage in my video and say it's not leaking. Saying that is like turning on the water faucet and seeing the water and saying the water isn't running. When obviously it is leaking. I had a DC50 that I watched the dust escape out of just like the fig did in this video. It was the time of day when the sun was coming in just right and I could see it all. A big cloud of dust came out of the DC50. Dyson's "whole machine hepa filtration" is a false advertisement..

If you have a Ball 2 Animal and the thing sucks itself to your carpet so hard you cannot move it, go to you local auto parts or hardware store and get 2 #10 "O" rings. Take the brush head off your vaccum, open the tabs and install the "O" rings on the front tabs for the adjustable floor head. This will allow some air flow and also allow you to move the vaccum over the carpet with ease.

It also picks up debris off my tile floor very well. Kitty litter, dirt, debris, fur, food crumbs, etc. Particles larger than that just aren’t common on my household. There may be one or 2, but most people don’t have a ton of large particles on their hard floors. Perhaps I will when my toddler gets old enough to eat cheerios.

I got one in 2018, a year later 2019 the motor had to be replaced along with the yolk assembly
(that's what the repair ticket said), only to be told this year 2020 that nothing was done to the
vacuum. The loud whining noise after shut off continued after it supposedly been
repaired, but I put up with it. Now the brush doesn't turn anymore. It's always something
with that vacuum. I got a Motorhead V7 in September this year and it did not work
right (brand new out of the box). Had to take it to get some kind of jam in the vacuum
removed to get it to work. (I paid for it because I went round and round with Dyson).
I had it with them, and the sooner the better I go back to a Shark again, which I had for
years. Biggest mistake to by a Dyson.

I still think my Sebo X4 Boost cleans comparably well when boost mode is engaged. Both vacuums really seal to the carpet and agitate very well. I can feel them pulling on the carpet, and I can feel them vibrate / agitate it to, even with shoes on. I think the Dyson might clean marginally better because it has more aggressive agitation, but it doesn’t pull anything out after the Sebo.

I just purchased the Dyson MultiFloor Original, and it is my first Dyson. But I have the issue you described in that the vacuum is EXTREMELY hard to push on plush carpet. We got new carpet this year, and I am thinking of returning this because it's too hard on my low back to do our large house with this vacuum. Also, the first vacuum they sent was defective and the handle wouldn't assemble correctly. Even with this replacement that works as designed, I think the handle design is flawed. Because I have to push SO HARD on the carpet, the handle pops out occasionally, and it's not that simple to snap back into place. For me as a first-time Dyson buyer, I am disappointed.

I feel like all Dyson vacuums come with major trade offs. Like this one doesn’t come with a soft roller, that one doesn’t have a brush head, this one is terrible at hard floors, that one can’t be pushed on thick carpet, etc. Unless you’re buying the top of the line model, you’re losing out on a lot. Compare that with other vacuum manufacturers like Shark, Samsung, and others and you see that compromises are minimal.
I understand the desire to have a tool that is amazing at a niche cleaning job, but it should be able to preform, at the very least, decently on a range of jobs. Especially given the high price.
Don’t get me wrong I love my Dyson air purifier and have for many years, I just expect more from such a premium price for a vacuum

  • @Methodical2

Some good info. I just purchased the Animal 2. Dyson had close to 50% off and included 2 tools. I opted for the hardwood floor kit. They all have negatives and it comes down to which negative you are willing to accept and live with; that goes for every product that has ever been invented. Also, since I no longer have little ones, I don't have to worry about cereal on the floor, so no concern for that. The leakage is probably a result of some bad seals. How old is this unit?

  • @vacuumtests9225

Great review! This is basically the DC40 mkII. Amazing agitation for sure. Normal DC40 has quite weak brushroll. I have to try my DC40 mkII on the hardfloor and see how much it really snowblows. Only difference to the Multi Floor 2 is slightly narrower cleaning head and adjustable front rubber strip for maximum seal to the floor.

    • @VacuumWars

Good point, the DC40 and the Light Ball seem to have the same kind of beater bar as the cordless vacs, which have the soft bristles. I guess there are good points and bad points. I wish they would combine all the good qualities in one vacuum though. 😀

Tim, Thanks I know you have said that in the comments before. Do you have video? I would love to see how you do the tests and what settings and where on the vacuum you are testing, and compare it to the other particle testers who showed leaks, maybe we could then figure out what the issue is. I'm not sure how to record and transfer to UA-cam. I took the particle tester all the way around the filter. In addition I tested a new ball multifloor 2 and also got 0 particle. I'm not sure if the fog machine is the way to test cleaners. Do you have a miele dealer close by because most keep one in the store. I can guarantee you that the brand new multifloor 2 will read 0 on the particle tester. My multifloor is 3 years old and still reads 0 particles. Your channel is growing by the day and in my opinion you need a particle tester. The particle tester is a must have tool for what your doing and a tax write off too.

Its possible, but I had the exact same issues (thick carpet, filtration) with a new Dyson Ball Animal 2, so if it was faulty I was unlucky twice is a row. Read the reviews on Amazon of the Dyson Ball animal 2, I would say about 1/4 of the people returned them due to them not working on their carpets. I havent read as many reviews on the Multifloor 2 but I would suspect similar comments. see this video: ua-cam.com/video/-PL3RdogCr4/v-deo.html

I have tried, cinetic multi floor and animal 2 and both did not work at all on my carpet. It is not high but is thick. Anything beyond absolutely low ile stuck to the ground carpets will be a problem and these will not work on them. Thankfully there is a return policy and this issue is easy to replicate. Unfortunately dyson seems to have checked out by announcing it no longer wants to do corded vacuums. So although I loved my older dyson, now we part ways.

  • @vacuumnut8300

Good review. I had this model dyson and it was terrible. You are correct if the carpet is not a very low pile, the motor turns itself off which it would do to me all time. Other sites have shown that the dyson uprights do not have a sealed system. They do put dust back into the air. Even the guys in the dyson store said they are having more problems with the latest multi-floor 2. I ended up returning it. I also have decided that I like bagged vacuums much better. There are some that have a sealed system. Also, they do not loose suction as the bag fills. You do have to check the bag from time to time. This is not rocket science. Mr. Dyson is theone who got customers to believe that is not the case. The truth is he lied. It is called marketing.

    • @VacuumWars
      @VacuumWars  6 років тому +1

Very good points, thanks for posting. Yeah I too have seen the light with bagged vacuums. They tend to have higher airflow due to the shorter air path, and I have yet to find a leak in one that claimed to be sealed (and had a HEPA bag) again I assume due to them generally having less points of failure.

This is my second Dyson and my last. I had the original multifloor and it worked great(lost it in the divorce). So I buy the multi 2 and what a complete piece of garbage. I have low, but plush carpeting throughout my home and it just doesn’t work on carpets...which kinda defeats the purpose of getting a vacuum. I don’t know what Dyson can do to help, but I will end up buying a $90 Bissel and spending a portion of my free time trashing Dyson on every single internet site.
Update: Reached out to Dyson and they said they are aware of the problem but there is nothing they can do and suggested I return it. Unfortunately, it was past the warranty date. They offered me 20% off in my next Dyson purchase(which ANY Dyson owner is offered). Lost all respect for the company. Wish I would have saw your review before I bought it. Now I’m out $300 + and all I can do is use the wand for my couches.

I'm wanting a sebo in the future but I'm not sure which one is the most powerful etc

Yesterday I used my new dyson multifloor vacuum and I found it weird that it didnt pick up some cereals left on the floor by my son. I had to lift up my vacuum for it to pick it up. Thats the main issue for me since I have hardwood floor all around the house and I found it heavy to lift it up everytime. I really dont know what to do since I dont want to spend 1000$(cad) for a vacuum.

    • @bradleym3240
      @bradleym3240 3 роки тому

The dysons are never good in Hard floor. If you want a cheap corded upright vacuum that can suck up anything then go for any of the Shark duo cleans. they are very convenient and if you whole house is hard floor then they are perfect for you. If you want cheap options then go for the NV200 models only if they are under 200cad. If you want perfectly in the middle then get a Shark NV800 or 810 if you got a costco around.

Well since Dyson has announced that they are no longer developing corded vacuums, maybe this will be the end of Dyson machines without soft roller brushes.
I am shocked at the leak seal test. I would have expected much better results from a sealed HEPA system. It would be awesome for your future videos if you could add data from a particle emission tester. It would be great to know how many particles are being released into the air.

Yeah I have been meaning to set a schedule for a while. I think it will be good for me as well as everyone else. For me because I can build up a back log of scheduled videos. Also UA-cam puts a lot of stock in the amount of views and such when a video is released so scheduling helps with that.
Yeah both the vacuum and fog machine are turned on. I use the hose and get it close to the fog machine, then use short bursts of fog.

If you want something like this then get a Dyson cordless or get literally any other vacuum. Dysons have way too tight seals. If you want something cheap go for a Shark navigator with zero-m. If you want something more expensive then go for one of the new shark rotators. The ones with powered lift away are the best.

I would disagree on the hose quality. I've owned 2 different Dyson uprights whose hoses got stretched out or otherwise damaged and disallowed reinsertion of the wand into the handle. Frustrating in any case let alone a $450 machine.
