    So thrilled to see someone FINALLY speak about the incomprehensibility of the Dyson!
    One word; Marketing...
    I used to clean houses & would feel like crying whenever I saw it waiting for me because I knew three things were
    possibly going to happen;
    1. The people didn't have an eye for what a dirty vs clean house really is and that it would therefore be a heavier workload that they probably wouldn't even notice afterward.
    2. That the heavy, bulky, usually not working fully, Dyson would do the usual where it sucked up the carpet, but refused to pick up tiny little grains of dirt because of the confounding lip they have on the head.
    That would mean bending down every few feet to pick up the grains that just kept getting pushed forward on the floor.
    3. That every few minutes I'd be stopping to clean the filter & empty the filthy, dusty container.
    On top of all of this you are fantastic for being HONEST about all of the products.
    I have to purchase a vacuum for a client's house that I'm decorating & I wanted to get a Kenmore or Panasonic because I have a baseline that beats anything I've every used, but I hear they're now not being made in Japan:((
    So happy to have found your channel!

      Oh. My. Goodness. Yes!!!! I hate dysons with a passion. I have experienced all of these things and I’ve heard other cleaning ladies say they love them. Why???? Are you seriously that unobservant of vacuum performance when it’s your job??? 😩 I am hoping to purchase my own vacuum within the next year just because I dread clients with dirty, clunky, broken vacuums. I kind of want a Miele, but I need to learn more.

    Every time I talk to someone about vacuums, they always think their Shart is the best vacuum on the market. Yet, if you're going to see a vacuum cleaner on the curb for bulk trash day, it will be a Shart 9 times out of 10.

    • @281cu6
      @281cu6 3 роки тому +8

      @Chris Christian Agreed. It's a shame people don't take care of anything anymore. That's beginning to be reflected in our market with highly disposable vacuum being a social norm now. Same thing with cars, I see people replace their car every 2 years all the time, and they never maintain any of them. They change it out the minute they have to replace a consumable part like shocks and pads.

    I found this list to be fair based on my observations with this channel and other sources. I was somewhat expecting Rainbow to be knocked down much lower for their apparent reputation for being a multi-level marketing firm, although I am not so sure how true this is (either way, better alternatives to Rainbow exist for lower prices). I found it reasonable for Miele to lose some of their status as an industry leader in vacuums for trying to please every segment of the market when those segments do not fully understand that they would be better served with proven, refined models (e.g. cordless vacuums that cost more and do less than a canister/upright). I will admit that I got suckered into the CX1 bagless model when there was a sale. I did not find your channel yet, there was an urgent need for a replacement from I brand that I trusted for ~20 years, and all of the other sources I consulted did not mention the issue I would discover after careful observation. Miele used a hollow gasket around the debris bin which meant that it was not tightly sealed shut and would result in course dust leaking out onto the walls and surrounding interior where the filter cylinder rested.
    I managed to recoup some of the cost by selling it off to someone else and adopted a SEBO D4, which performs exactly as it should. The firm also upholds design and business principles that I think you share too:
    1) Function over form.
    2) Access to affordable and durable parts.
    3) User serviceability for reduced downtime.
    There just aren't many firms across numerous industries that impart these in their wares. You are the like the Louis Rossmann of vacuum cleaners and we need more people like you, those who strip the veil of marketing to expose cynical firms and then point us to worthier patrons. Thank you for your service :)

    I recently purchased a Miele C3 Complete Brilliance. I like the machine a lot. The only problem I am having is psychological. I am used to seeing dog hair and dirt in a canister after vacuuming. Gross, yes, but it makes me feel good. Miele is bagged so I don’t see all that dirt. It’s going to be an adjustment bc I do believe that I’ve been brainwashed to expect to see dirt in a clear canister. I do think it belongs completely in the “S” category. I don’t blame them for making a quick “stick” vacuum. Plenty of my friends do not have carpeting and do not need or want a big vacuum. For them, a quality stick vacuum makes more sense. If Miele didn’t make one, they’d be stuck with Dyson, Shark, or a cheap generic. The Miele stick is superior to the other brands out there as well.

They work well; however, what led me to get those was that I purchased an electrolux Oxygen something or other canister- orange and silver and it would shut off about every 10 min. I called for help and they told me that it was a thermostat issue. They refused to fix it under warranty because I bought it on sale and not full price! I could not believe it. I went back to the store (Sears) and they fixed it and it worked for about 2-3 months then did it again. Unfortunately for me, my home could not be easily retrofitted for a central vac. I was all set to have a MD with hide-a-hose installed, but once they got a look inside my walls (generous sheetrock and overabundance of fireproof blocking), it was a no-go without ripping out large pieces of my walls (requiring $$$$ in repairs) and drilling through all the sheetrock. So I settled for a Miele C3.

    Man, it depends a little on what you want. My parents have had a Royal upright for so many years. I have no idea how many miles that thing has on it and it's just like it was new--though it could be disassembled and fixed up if there ever was a problem. Meanwhile I have been through many vacuums that have broken down and been thrown away. Innovation and convenience aren't everything. Always working, for years and year and years, should be a major consideration.

Don't know if I will be successful convincing her. After watching your informative video from 3 yrs ago, I think I will consider a Hoover from Walmart. Price point and decent quality hopefully. My one reservation would be that it's parent company is Chicommi. Hoover reminds me of my grade school days. Very helpful video, I appreciate the time you spent to educate the reasons behind your choices. I am now getting into the vacuum world as I’ve started a new job at my local sweeper shop. I was very surprised to see Riccar all the way at C. Other than some models not having attachments, they are light weight & have great suction. A great warranty plan with lifetime belt on most selections. My opinion is they have a great value vacuum for all ages. This isn’t me disagreeing with you of course, just wondering what a vacuum expert like yourself would think about my opinion. Thanks !

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  7 місяців тому +1

      The reason Riccar is at a C is they don't last very long and they tend to be high maintenance. For the same price you pay for a Riccar you can buy a much better vacuum so the value is not there.
      Since making this video they've gone even more downhill. Most of the products are at the same quality and stuff from Hoover/TTI these days.

Ugly as sin but easily as good if not better than those that top your list (although I see it near the top despite not hearing any comments on it). Also the Lindhaus was probably as good, looked like R2D2, and had an awesome power head. But took up more storage. Miele are reliable as well. The comments about Shark were very informative and I have to wonder now if some of the youtube channels that have lots of subscibers are getting greased to recommend those vacuums. Definitely a windmill brain if they buy dyson/shark @full price; however, if those two brands are 70%-off , which they sometimes are, then they might be worth buying, don’t you think? Sebo, lindhaus and miele uprights obviously are the best but I’ve never seen any of those go on sale, let alone clearance, which shark/dyson sometimes do. So it’d be interesting to see this list revised, taking into consideration the discounted prices.

      You're right about being decent for the price if heavily discounted. I picked up a Dyson DC44 animal for $150 refurbished, appeared to be new, about ten years ago, still works. The downside of Dyson, is the planned obsolescence; every series seems to have accessories and batteries which though SHOULD work (batteries same setup/voltage) are intentionally made to NOT fit the next generation of vacuum. Basically, a rip off.
