- In our final Striper Migration Report of the 2024 spring migration, Matt Haeffner is joined by Kevin Blinkoff and Jimmy Fee to recap the migration and discuss the transition toward summer striper fishing. South of Long Island the migration is slowing to a halt, while in New England, anglers are looking toward the new moon on July 5th for one last solid push of fish before stripers settle into their summertime patterns and locations.

Kevin, thank you for touching on warm water mortality. We are seeing a lot of careless anglers and dead stripers locally.
Here's a good article to share: onthewater.com/help-striped-bass-survive-catch-and-release
The lack of bunker is not a good thing, but it definitely made for some fall-like sand eel blitzes this past May and June
I live in philly. Did great in Delaware river this spring. Not so well at jersey shore once got boat going.
Any suggestions on what part of the Cape I should go to surf cast this weekend?
Ct river was nuts in may crazy good
Salisbury was decent last week got tight to 5 maines run has been super finicky I’ve been able to get 7 fish in three days though.
The bite has entirely died on plum island all times of day and tide it’s incredible
It’s still a hit or miss. The 40lb striper cows still haven’t came into Cape Cod. Water is still cold.
ZERO BUNKER AT THE JERSEY SHORE
Worst season in about 5 years, even the herring run bite spotty in Maine
Yeah the striper population isn’t doing great right now. I imagine it will be this way until the 2017&2018 year classes fully recruit into the coastal population. For now it’s important to promote conservative management and practicing good catch and release tactics…
Matt - love the report, but please don’t sugar coat. This was a poor spring run and needs to be reported that way.
Heffner has to go, such a donkey when he’s in front of the camera
