Hello from Orléans, France! My wife and I, we love Italie. We discovered Marches 2 years ago and this is a wonderfull countryside! We were neer Caldarola : not too many tourist, sun, forest, hills... wines and food of course! I will watch yours videos with pleasure. Good luck with restoring your home!
Hi @Kristographies it sounds like to saw what I saw when I first arrived. You are lucky where you are that you can venture to many amazing places as they are all just up the road'ish.😎
@@threeacresofmarche I just remembered: if you want to buy very good wine, I recommend Azienda Vinicola Fratelli Badiani, in Morro d'Alba. We bought a few bottles to take home and we had a great time! And it looks like it's not too far from you.
Interesting! I've been living in Marche Italy for ten years, since I ditched the city life and high heels and moved out of London UK to here..I bought a very small old stone house on the mountains..... it was very cheap but sadly no land..though I have a use of a big plot nearby, belongs to friends, where i grow my food and keep lots of chickens for eggs to sell...goats are coming soon... As you may know it's almost impossible to get a job here but i don't have big expenses..as i live off grid but no solar panels...just a tiny portable one to charge a tiny power bank to charge my old mobile phone. After nearly 2 years in this house we've only just finally cleared last of the rubbish. 18 years in Spain, 6 years completely off grid, new build of large modern house in the mountains, and now an old Casita needing renovating. I secretly been plotting my sweet escape from NYC to Italy to by a beautiful little Homestead in Italy. I got about another five years of saving before I can make the plunge, I’m only 43. I just subscribed to your channel because of this video. Congratulations my friend and continue to share your beautiful journey with us.
Well done Richard, I lived for a year as a student in Urbino at the other end of the region in 1990-91 and loved it. Good luck and looking forward to seeing your next instalment.
Hi @nautilusshell4969 Urbino is lovely. I quite often go there for the market and a day out watching the world go by. What a wonderful place to have studied. Thank you for the kind wishes.
Thanks @ryanhie2829 . There may be the odd talky one as I am getting so many questions come in but otherwise I hope to let the visuals do the talking.👍
I had never heard of Le Marche until I stumbled upon your channel. What a cool project! I've subscribed and looking forward to seeing your journey unfold. Rooting for you! :)
What a ton of work cleaning those brambles and weeds while under the hot sun, I was really feeling for you! In my years, I've developed two very extensive large beautiful yards with vast ornamental gardens and productive vegetable plots, have also accomplished a good deal of work upon my new build home, indeed I've exhausted this body of mine all too many times! My roots, my start out in life and until into my 40's was as a farm boy upon our 3,300 acre family grain farm, I wish I could turn back the hands of time and still be there with my dear parents and family! Now, these days, am on a lovely sprawling acreage of my own and almost am ready to retire, to something smaller, maybe I'll find an nice place such as yours! Happy to be along on this journey with you! 🤗👍
Hi, that sounds like a wonderful life being mostly out doors. 3,300 acres must have kept you all busy! The brambles have been free to go crazy for too many years. I don't want to fill videos of me strimming but it is a mammoth task getting them under control without damaging the good trees they're smothering. Little by little though.
Cleaning would much easier in Winter Times. I would have started to collect Water and planning trees in the field. What do you think Kiri trees? They grow very fast and in 10 to 15 years the ready to be Cut and Sold. For berries I would plant currants. And garlic and potatos.
@@threeacresofmarche We shall enjoy seeing the progress as you tame the land and renovate the house and outbuildings. If gardening is any bit of a passion, you certainly have an expanse to plant and tend, I just hope the summers are not too unbearably HOT, seems global temperatures certainly are spiking!
I did and I liked it. The landscape in that region is some of the best in Italy, in my opinion. What held me back was how hilly it is and how long it takes to get around because of the landscape. I also cycle a fair amount and so rolling hills with big mountains nearby won me over. There are some amazing properties there but take your time to check them - a lot have cracks in them that you can fit an arm through!
I was a regular visitor to Magione back in 2005, looks like you have your dream house, gorgeous rolling farm land, just like here in North Yorkshire, all the best on your venture.. ive subscribed and will enjoy watching!!
You found a beautiful location! A hidden gem! Have a fun adventure! You need good leather gloves - when clearing the land. Love all the trees around the buildings, makes it shady and cooling.
24K views already on your 2nd video, well done! I'm enjoying it so far and looking forward to the journey, more so because I plan to do exactly the same thing in France in the next couple of years, so added interest for me.
What a spectacular view. Considering this property has an existing structure and space to plant, I believe it was worth the purchase. Can you send the link for the place you purchased the ladder please?
Hello. Thank you for saying hello. Let me check where and I will send the link through this chat tomorrow. It is very useful and easy to carry around. 👍

This is really awesome. We’re inspired and shopping for a place somewhere between Marche and Puglia. My first thought while watching you clearing the brush in shorts and a T-shirt was “poison ivy and bugs”!! I also learned the hard way when we first moved to our house 2 years ago, and I got debilitating bites and poison ivy allergic reaction. Good luck with everything!!!
Hi @swmient . I think I got very lucky with the price and location.🙏 Abruzzo is stunning. I really likes that region. It was just too hilly for a gentle cycle.😁
Just have loads of cash for renovation, use local labour or you may have problems and look thoroughly into the legal aspects involved in ownership, taxation etc or you may have a lemon on your hands. For example in Spain the country owns the land and if they want to put a road through your house, they can!
Hi Derek, The budget is tight so I will have to take on a lot myself. Although this is only my first purchase in Italy I can say that the buying process and legal side was very professional and organised. So far, so good - but I get what you are saying. It feels a solid purchase (2 years in now).
Just found your content, going to enjoy watching from the beginning. Great buy, looks like an amazing landscape and property. Have seen that some people take the kitchen when they move, weird if the place stood empty though. They sure left end for you to sort outside, but hopefully you'll have some cases great finds.👍
Hi @neutonrenda2303 I am not sure why they did that either but it is what it is now and my fault for not being crystal clear with asking or setting my expectations. A top tip for those looking to buy to check this properly!😄
Before starting such an adventure we always imagine it so romantic... but, then, day by day, it's time to discover how hard it is all that work being done alone with barely any heavy tools. We learn to think twice before any move of a finger - because planning the activity and creating the best solutions for everything makes a huge difference on how many problems we can solve in a given time. An, yes, use gloves. Always use gloves - protecting your hands is particularly important if you live alone and it also improves your productivity a lot. Thanks for your video, keep going!
They make a mulching brush blade that is basically a flat bar that turns down at 90 degrees at the end edges that is perfect for brambles and small trees / bushes. I have a lot of woodland in rural Ky and I use it on my fence line. It really makes all the difference. I can clear an area the size of a van in a few minutes and all that’s left is mulch like everything went thru a shredder . I call it the spinning blade of death.
Hello @rexmundi8154 I tried what I thought was a mulching brish when taking on those over head height beauties. Is that blade the one you mean? The kickback from a blade like that, when I hit what I cannot see hidden, is brutal though. I try a different blade, which I will show in a few videos time, that I feel safer with. I need a shredder! It is on the purhcase list. Thanks for the tips. I really appreciate it.
@@threeacresofmarche the one I use is the Oregon 295504-0 on a Stihl weed eater with the handlebar control and sling. You need to wear sturdy clothes and shin / face guards because the blade can really sling debris at high velocity. I use mine right up against stone walls with no problem. The blade it very heavy and you can run it at slower speeds and it still cuts great. I’d put the money towards a high quality weed eater like a Stihl model FS-111 with the handlebars that let you hold it with both hands over a dedicated mulcher / shredder. You won’t use the mulcher much after you get the area cleared but the weed eater will be something you use forever. I wish id figured this out years ago. I had dozens of cheap weed eaters over the years and buying the FS-111 was the best thing I ever did. I’ve used it in heavy brush for over 3 years and it’s still going strong. With the mulching blade on the weed eater, you start at the top and come down on it until you can see more of the underneath. If you cut at the base, everything falls over and obscures the ground and the long stems get all caught up in everything. Mulching from the top down turns the stems to tiny pieces. I really need to make a video about it.
@rexmundi8154 Thank you. Great advice. I will get a chipper/shredder as there are alwys plenty of cuts from the olive trees that are not any good for fire wood etc. Thanks for the tips. These videos are a little behind real time so it may take a few more to show how I tackled thes beasts! They will no doubt come back this year so I will invest in the kit! Thanks again.

@@inthegarden6556 yes, I wondered this too? Here in Australia prices for small parcels of rural/regional land, particularly those within 2 hours or so of large town/city, continue to climb even after significant increases during the COVID years. I might be wrong but I just don't think you could find a property like this one Italy, at the indicated price, here in Australia. Unless it was very, very, remote.
You are living a dream of mine. I too wish to buy land somewhere nice like Italy. I was thinking Spain. Hardest part is leaving family and friends, thus I must wait till I am old.
Hello @christopherhernandez3937 - I understand. I waiting to the time where my daughters are old enough to travel themselves so while I am back and forth, we get plenty of time together in Italy and in England.
@@threeacresofmarche It's gorgeous. I also found many 55 gallon drums. Luckily there is a guy who takes scrap metal and every few months I give him a call and he takes it all away.
Lucky you! The countryside is beautiful and your property has a lot of potential. I'm sure the "landscaping" you plan will be in harmony with your surroundings. I suspect that during the summer months you will spend more time inside your thick-walled house than in the roasting sun outside.
Mosquitoes out in the middle of the day? Weird, even here in Florida where they are the size of hummingbirds, they generally only come out at dusk and night. I thought Marche was one of the cooler environs of Italy during the winter? Surprised there isnt snow on the ground. How far from town? What do you plan on planting? If its that hot in the middle of winter, maybe think about mango trees?
Hello @redcorsair14 - the bites were from bugs that I disturbed as I cleared the weeds and brambles. This was filmed during the summer. I have only just started this channel so am catching up on footage as quickly as I can. There is snow on the mountains during winter but rarely in the part that I am - it tends to have four nice seasons. 👍
Great video mate, please stay inside your house with closed door and windows when they put pesticide on those fields as it can cause a lot of health problems.
@threeacresofmarche I come from France. It s not much a big deal if you are inside everything closed off or at the beach. Next time you see the farmers ask them they will tell you. Country side has more advantages than disadvantages but it is important to be on the safe side. Unless they grow the wine organically but I bought it.
Hi @seamusegan9956 Thanks for the tip. I intend to clear all around the well. I think the bank that is on the high side is from mud built up from heavy storms over the years.
Yes, it was mentioned that they would take a few items to be fair. I may have missed that they would literally take out the entire kitchen and tap off the kitchen sink and water supply. I am using a bowl to carry water from the bathroom to wash up. 😂
You’re digging out some cool yard art. Every time I clear an overgrown area on our family farm in US that’s been in family for 150 years I run into treasures. They never threw anything away. I find things I remember from childhood clearing the property for farming. Enjoyed video very much. I love seeing farms all over the world.
My paternal grandfather was from a small town called appignano del Toronto which I believe is in the marche.good luck.all the best from saugus mass.u.s.a.
Hi @awakeholic if you can work for yourself the digital nomad route in could suit you. I'd guess the coastal towns are busier for work opportunities. Best wishes to you.👍
Goats love brambles. Might be worth putting the word out & see if you can borrow a dozen goats for a few weeks to clean them up. Some temporary fencing & you can sit back with a chianti to watch them munch through it.
My top tip is find the region and then get really focussed on that area. There are so many things to consider that will be personal to you. The property will be there once you figure out what you really need. This house was not on the market when I viewed it.
@@threeacresofmarche great series already, congrats! I'm hoping future videos go more into the "this house was not on the market when I viewed it" comment. I just subscribed to your channel because of this video. Congratulations my friend and continue to share your beautiful journey with us.
Thank you @JulietGermanotta . Sounds like you have a good plan and have that goal to get here! Best wishes to you.🙌
Well done Richard, I lived for a year as a student in Urbino at the other end of the region in 1990-91 and loved it. Good luck and looking forward to seeing your next instalment.
Hi @nautilusshell4969 Urbino is lovely. I quite often go there for the market and a day out watching the world go by. What a wonderful place to have studied. Thank you for the kind wishes.
@@threeacresofmarcheKeep up the videos - looking forward to progress.
Great video. Well edited. No talking heads and wow; what a beautiful location!
Thanks @ryanhie2829 . There may be the odd talky one as I am getting so many questions come in but otherwise I hope to let the visuals do the talking.👍
I used to live in Le Marche for 10 years. Love it - would love to go back one day. In bocca al lupo con tutto
Thank you! I may need some..😂
I had never heard of Le Marche until I stumbled upon your channel. What a cool project! I've subscribed and looking forward to seeing your journey unfold. Rooting for you! :)
Thank you @sorosfox3801 . They say that Le Marche is Italy's best kept secret. Going by the feedback that seems to be true.😁
Not le marche Simply Marche like Umbria, Toscana,Lazio, Campania etc etc Just the name of the italian regioni (county) ok?
Thank you for sharing! What a dream moving to Italy !
Inspiring video's, love it! We just bought a house in south Marche, so now the fun begins :) I will keep following you for inspiration.
Congratulations @LauraM-zf9fl . Yes, now the fun...and amazing lifestyle...begins. best wishes!😎
Oh , and stunning sunsets ❤
Quite lovely! I'd love to live in Italy too.
Go for it!😊
@threeacresofmarche you said you traveled all over Italy, did you check Abruzzo out? If so, what did you think about it?
Hello @kevinharker1840
North Yorkshire is lovely. Thank you for subscribing. I really apprecite it.
Nice place, I tend to only use the blade on the strimmer, takes out everything and doesn't need replacing

Yeah, you're right. Just over a quarter million joy bringing views.
You found a beautiful location! A hidden gem! Have a fun adventure! You need good leather gloves - when clearing the land. Love all the trees around the buildings, makes it shady and cooling.

That is great to hear. Thank you for saying hello @jobje325
24K views already on your 2nd video, well done! I'm enjoying it so far and looking forward to the journey, more so because I plan to do exactly the same thing in France in the next couple of years, so added interest for me.
Thanks. I cannot believe how it has landed myself!😃

Hello.
The ladder - it is very useaful. I bought mine a few years ago on ebay (I should say that I have no affiliations set up so this is a pure recomendation).
It was listed as the following - Xtend & Climb 1303-050 ProSeries Heavy Duty Telescopic Aluminium Ladder. It is showing as sold out from the company that I bought from but there are many still on there for sale. I paid £100 for it a few years ago.

Congratulations on your new house @rogerandrews8909 .🙌
This is really awesome. We’re inspired and shopping for a place somewhere between Marche and Puglia.
My first thought while watching you clearing the brush in shorts and a T-shirt was “poison ivy and bugs”!! I also learned the hard way when we first moved to our house 2 years ago, and I got debilitating bites and poison ivy allergic reaction.
Good luck with everything!!!
Thank you @dak_alwaystravels9213 . Luckily nothing bad happened - just a few little bugs giving tiny bites. Trousers worked!😂
Great start to your series and good luck to you! that hand cart will come in handy! Also great price for the property in Marche. We live in Abruzzo.
Hi @swmient . I think I got very lucky with the price and location.🙏 Abruzzo is stunning. I really likes that region. It was just too hilly for a gentle cycle.😁
The views are gorgeaus! Good luck with your project!
Thank you so much!
It feels a solid purchase (2 years in now).
curious what you mean by this 'use local labour or you may have problems' ?
Imminent domain. They can do that in the US too, so much for owning anything
Good luck with this Richard, plenty of work there to get stuck in to and I’m looking forward to following you along with this. Keep it real 👍
@Maxtrialsuk Thanks. I will do my best!😂
Good luck with the restoration of the house. We will follow along! 👍

Thank you @pedrorego8953 . I am certainly learning quickly from my many mistakes.
Your doing good best of luck with your project

GREAT set-up! Amazing how prices are just tumbling in Italy. It'll only get worse, but good for the country to bring in young blood from other areas.
Its a challenge. The quiet towns are seeing changes with young Italians coming back to start businesses. It has hope.
Why are they tumbling and why do you say it will get worse?
I don't think it will get worse, personally. I would not have bought there had I of had those concerns. From my experiene, prices are not tumbling.

Hello @ginacrusco234 . I think plenty of natural shade and as much time outside as possible.😎
Gorgeous film, thank you for the inspiration!
Hello! New subscriber here. Loved the video and I’m looking forward to new developments. It’s going to be interesting! Greetings from Spain.
Hello @midei . Thank you. I lived in Spain for a few years while in my 20s. Loved it.
Thanks @Max-wd8ox . It is a concern. I hope to get notice or see it all happening so that I can be inside or on the beach for the day.👍
@threeacresofmarche I come from France. It s not much a big deal if you are inside everything closed off or at the beach. Next time you see the farmers ask them they will tell you. Country side has more advantages than disadvantages but it is important to be on the safe side. Unless they grow the wine organically but I bought it.
I would save that old oil barrel and use it as a burning barrel. Nice to have if you doing some renovation to burn old mouldy wood in 🙂

Hi @seamusegan9956 Thanks for the tip. I intend to clear all around the well. I think the bank that is on the high side is from mud built up from heavy storms over the years.
In Italy is comon aprouch by seller to take kitchen cabinets with them.
Yes, it was mentioned that they would take a few items to be fair. I may have missed that they would literally take out the entire kitchen and tap off the kitchen sink and water supply. I am using a bowl to carry water from the bathroom to wash up. 😂
Looks great
When you buy a house in Italy, it does not include fixtures and fittings. They took the kitchen units ... you're lucky they left the light bulbs!
I thought they were joking about the kitchen sink part as I said I needed that to stay. They took the kitchen but left beds in bushes. 😂
You’re digging out some cool yard art. Every time I clear an overgrown area on our family farm in US that’s been in family for 150 years I run into treasures. They never threw anything away. I find things I remember from childhood clearing the property for farming. Enjoyed video very much. I love seeing farms all over the world.

How do you go finding such a place. Amazing
My top tip is find the region and then get really focussed on that area. There are so many things to consider that will be personal to you. The property will be there once you figure out what you really need. This house was not on the market when I viewed it.
