Three Acres Of Marche, Italy.

Приєднався 20 кві 2022
My name is Richard. This is me attempt to live the sweet life whilst renovating an abandoned farmhouse in Corinaldo, Le Marche, Italy. Nothing is straight foward here and this project definitely has had its moments, especially as I do no live in Italy full time.
There is a dream life in here somewhere and I am sure that I will find it if I can get the permissions and deliveries to turn up on time.
Renovation, expat tips, Italian lifestyle, exploring and adventure all washed down with great food and even better wine. 😎 🇮🇹

I hope this works! Winter in Italy | FIRST YEAR reflection #30
Living most of the year outdoors, in Italy, in the sunshine, is a dream. The lifestyle of owning and renvovating a property in Italy is why so many, like me, do these things. I reflect on a great year as I prepare to lock up the house for the winter. My first year on UA-cam has gone better and has been more fun than I could have ever expected.
Covering the steep banks to stop erosion take me quite some time. I certainly get my exercise and step count in easily while working in my garden ( field ). A neighbour checks if my olive trees are ready for harvesting and I get over 30 plants in the ground as I clear head high brambles with my strimmer.
For those interested in what my neighbour said to me - he talked about the trees needing to be pruned and that he thinks that they have been affected by a bugs. He offered to help me (with my field) but said that his tractor is broken.
A big thank you to all the other channels that I watch and have been inspired by that are based around being in Italy, doing a DIY house renovation, and the lifestyle of this wonderful country. Thank you all. @RaisingVoyagers @NickiPositano @KylieFlavell @storiesfromthecascina @OurItalianDreamHouse @ateliermavi @MartijnDoolaard @italianproperty @stuartandpaul and of course Joseph and Kobe @housemarche
Thanks all.
Richard. 🍷

#29 Drainage, Roof Tiles & Water Tanks in rural ITALY
Переглядів 21 тис.21 день тому
Buying a house in Italy to renovate. Problems catch you out and slow you down. The rustic roof has a big hole in it and I cannot fix it properly before winter. The terraces and drainage plans are bigger than I thought. Ordering french drainage materials may have to wait as I am out of time again and have to leave. This fleeting visit to Italy has been packed with the usual blend of organising d...

Italian trees and landscaping the steep banks and hill. An local expert gardener joins me to offer advice and plan out how I can manage and control the erosion of the banks this winter. In time, the entire area will have walls, steps and terraces plus manyshrubs, plants, and herb gardens with French drains running through the main water catchment areas. Mediterranean and Italian design. However...

After landscaping comes the big tidy up to get the renovation back into shape. Clearing the house in preperation for plastering, wiring, and flooring for the lounge. Outside I get ready for the new olive trees and other plants, trees and bushes that I have bought. I love Sunday's in Italy. I get so much done. When the weather is mild with blue skies, working from sunrise to sunset is really enj...

This is the abandoned farmhouse with land that I bought in rural Italy for a bargain price. My plans for the property restoration and lanscaping of the land are taking a positive step forward. Take a look at the land now that the work has begun and let me know what you think. The two barns and the derelect outbuildings can wait while I plan the outside kitchen and areas to enjoy living outside ...
#25 why is Italian paperwork so complex ?! Property renovation delays
Переглядів 23 тис.2 місяці тому
Chasing down some paperwork that is needed for me to prgress with the landscaping and renovation gives me a few curveballs and deflating moments. I bump into the classic Italian process that always slows things down. Five weeks of calls, texts and emails and I am back where I started. Is this fun? It is an adventure, thats for sure. Getting used to the way that things work in Italy takes quite ...

This old house renovation is progressing nicely and is starting to turn from abandoned to loved. Italian property and slow living. In this video I show you a real life view of renovating a countryside house in Italy. This is the first time that I attempt to capture how much DIY I can do over a single weekend. I work on the window opening and need to make the house secure quite quickly so this is one project from start to (nearly) the finish. This episode sees me tackle the opening of the side structural brick wall and prep...

How to make a new window opening. My plans to fit a very large picture window, alone, are a challenge. Removing a supporting wall for the new window to frame the view over the Le Marche countryside is the plan. The renovation at the house continues. Repairs to the broken water pipe and I make and install a new drain cover. I hope you enjoy the renovation and lifestyle of Italy video and leave a...

Hi Richard! I am a "neighbor" of yours, just a few km away. It's always nice watching your videos and progress. I would advise you to buy a pick or a pickaxe for your digging. You can surely find one at GARPO in San Lorenzo or some other garden centre. Ciao :-)
I just found your channel an hour or so ago. What a fantastic place you have found. It is just absolutely delightful. Such hard work, but goodness me, is it paying off. My heart fell as you drove off away from it. I can imagine how you felt. We are doing it the other way, living out of the UK and buying a house back in my home town back there. It's going to drive me bonkers when I have to leave it, going back and forth, plus spending time in Northern Italy during each year. However, we have been retired for three years and it all needs to be done! Now is the time for us. I cannot wait to see you go back there. I am enchanted by that place.
Hi from Chester in the UK. Really enjoying your videos. Beautiful area!
Thanks! The missus and myself love watching you, albeit sometimes with a hand over my eyes...old construction guy, but your drive and ingenuity border on legend. Looking forward to the finale.....on tempo di italiano
Hello @jeffbradley2614 Thank you - this is very kind of you. Thank you for watching and your support. The finale is a while away yet!😂
Good luck with high energy prices, drought and terrible economy 👎 No wonder it's so cheap
Hello Richard gr8 work! 👏👏👏 I lived in Le Marche 4 years, more south. In the hills around Fermo n even further south, in the hills around San Benedetto del Tronto. The summers are really hot! And you will be grateful for every tree around the house n the nice shadow they will grant you! 😊🌞🌳
Greetings from Iceland. Thanks for all the information. I have been looking at simular properties in Umbria and intend to buy after a year or so. I wonder how you did choose an Agent or sombody to lead you threough the prosidure. Do you think it is almost nessesery to speak Italian to go through it all or do you not?
Good job ❤ Next fruits trees ❤
Richard, thanks so much for this, it's exactly what I'm looking for - straightforward views and no flowery opinions on the practicalities of moving to Italy. I've been planning a permanent move to Italy for several years and now am in a place where I can hopefully start to make real progress by the end of this year - your advice on geometra and the volume of 'off-market' properties is priceless. I do have one question - you mentioned you already had an Italian bank account opened which you used to pay for your property - other research I had done made it sound like this required a residential address to be able to do in Italy and so was a bit chicken and egg.... How did you manage to get an Italian bank account, or did you use a Euro denominated bank account provided by a UK bank or something? Cheers, c
Well done *
Everything's looking good richard well done, happy new year to you can't wait until this time next year to see the progress, we'll done mate
👍
👍
Brilliant - thanks ever so much and Happy New Year!
Your daughter is lovely…what a trooper. On the other hand, this window was not installed properly and will leak like a sieve when the next mistral blows in.
50,000. in fees to add on to the house?! Geez.
You need a dog. 😇
👍👍👍
Great video as usual. It's really difficult to control nature. We have several years of experience with ground covers. I think that the one you used is best suited to be covered by wood chips or something of the like. The cloth won't last long with exposure to the wind or sun. We have found something called Greenline, which is a woven plastic cloth. It's heavier than what you used. Ultimately none of these are environmentally friendly, unfortunately. Going with a white clover or another type of ground cover (that doesn't need to be mowed) might be your best bet. I wish you luck with your choices. I hope that it stays in place for you while you're away.
What a lovely series of videos, I've enjoyed them all. What an achievement the past year! Looking forward for a great 2025.
Stunning ❤
Apulia isn't as far away as you think. The A14 gets better the further down you go.
I think I'd grow rows and rows of Lavender, along w your fruit trees. I love your home! I dislike the city/village homes that are choppy and 4 levels high. Plus, you have few neighbors.
Happy New Year to you and my favorite new UA-cam channel. Keep up the good work!
I’m on video 1 but just popped in here to say - I like your vibe and you’re a charming chatter about your work! Well done! I’m planning on moving to Italy as soon as I sell all my life of stuff and then my house so I’m binging on everyone’s Italy home vids. Okay back to video 1… lol I’m at the part you’re taking bricks (tiles?) in a wheelbarrow to the house.
We’ll keep our fingers crossed the fabric holds out over the winter. Love the videos and seeing my ancestral home. I’m American but also hold Italian citizenship and am hoping to live there part time soon. My family is from Le Marche about an hour south of Corinaldo. Happy new year!
Good luck! Maybe can seed the banks in spring. Happy new year.
I so enjoy watching your videos. Here's to 2025!
Can there be less chatting and more actual work????
Well Richard, I think you did an amazing job so far. I guess the damp weather/rain will keep the cloth more to the ground and it shouldn't be too bad in spring. Finger crossed? Happy new year mate ♥
Fantastic job, Richard! It's been so inspiring to follow your journey this year. Many blessings to you in 2025!
Great job. Enjoying the videos
From experience and losing many plants, try not to plant too deep - keep the trees just a bit up out of the ground. Build a small mote around the base about 1/2 meter out. Don't forget the mulch inside the mote around the trees. Happy planting and love your dream come true!
Amazing - You are moving right along and by yourself, which is very impressive! FYI, we order our pins on Amazon in a box of 560 which are thicker and longer pins...much cheaper than the local store. We lay the ground fabric down on an other section of our property each year until we can afford ground cover. It takes approximately 1 pin every meter to keep the wind from carrying it away - we live in a very windy area. If weeds start growing under the fabric, we spray the fabric with vinegar, salt & water mixture in a large garden sprayer which kills the weeds naturally. Love your channel...keep it up!
The tree you said doubled in size is a black poplar, the small one should be a willow.
You thought about getting a web cam so you can check on land when not there? Happy Mew Year !
Happy New Year Richard! 2025 “is going to be epic”. 🎉
I love watching all you share with us about how you are creating your dream house. Your work and effort and attitude are a great inspiration. Best wishes to you for a happy healthy and successful new year. 💕
See you next year. You’ve got so much done the property looks great. Fingers crossed the ground covering will keep in place it looks well protected. 🎉
Have been bingeing you. Did I miss seeing your girls? You mentioned them flying in the next day in an episode, then nothing that I saw.
PS--sounds like your old olive trees are infected/diseased via your wise old neighbor. You may want to call your garden center to find out about treating them as whatever it is will likely infect your new trees. Happy gardens 🤪
So great to see your progress! And your comfort level in front of the camera as well. Love your little house & best wishes for 2025. ❤ PS-if available 12" staples are best for windy areas, don't pop out as easily. 😊
That's a shame about your olive tree 😢 I hope all your hard work covering the banks will stay in place. All your hard work clearing the drive, etc is made a big difference. Happy New Year to you & your family 🎉🍾🥂
Fanatic last video of the year. As we're finding, you just start making progress and then you need to leave. The joys of living in two different countries, eh!! We're back in the UK until March now as we need to gain some of our 180 days back. Will you be able to get out there over the winter at all? We have our fingers crossed that the landscaping fabric will stay put 🤞🤞🤞
I agree it wil be epic! Great job so far & i'll be waiting for the next episode.
As I said before: a GREAT GREAT job man! Wonderful to see you to live your dream. Myself looking the web for a similar dream, but haven't found it yet, or maybe I'm nervous to just do it.
Happy New Year and all good wishes for a wonderful life in Italy⭐️🥂cheers from Oz🦘🫶🍾🥳
