As a mathematician, handwriting is usually much faster than typing, as well as being better suited to attacking a problem from multiple 'angles' at the same time.
I considered getting a Remarkable, but went for a 2-in-1 laptop. Part of this is because I love Linux and don't want to mess with compatibility issues. But colour is also very useful when writing notes.
Colour e-ink does exist, and I enjoy keeping an eye on these sorts of products as they improve.

That is interesting Jonathan. When did you consider getting one? I suppose a 2 in 1 laptop also is more cost effective, as you can do a lot more on it!

@@jdknightingale I'd probably thought about it for a while, but I bought my 2-in-1 just over a year ago when my previous laptop got unreliable.

    The real question is...
is this tech good enough to replace your notebooks? I don't quite think so yet.
I bought a used 1st gen remarkable for $100 because currently these prices are unreasonable.
They're slow and writing is not even as responsive as an ipad.
The only real pros about these products ironically is their limited capability (distraction free) lol.
But then you gotta ask yourself if spending hundreds of dollars on a slow/laggy digital notebook worth it
or should you just stick to the cheap good old paper notebook and pen?

All very valid, good points! I suppose the advantage of a piece of paper is it is distraction free... and its a lot cheaper!

i think a lot of your issues especially the typing related issues, would be solved by the use of the new type folio. yah the device has a keyboard accessory now. i ordered it as soon as i saw the announcement. they did have some quality control issues that needed to be addressed, but now everything should be good.

Thats interesting, I forgot they introduced that! Have you found it useful having the keyboard?

This company is awful to deal with. Two days after they took $500 from me I still do not have shipper info, which they state on their website you will get when you checkout. They DO NOT respond to emails or IG messages. It is like a guy selling stuff out of his garage. Would probably get better responses from a guy in his garage. So many horror stories about the customer service or the lack of it, not sure why I bought this, if I ever need tech support I am sure it will be a nightmare. Hey Remarkable, why don't you respond to people whose money you have taken!!

Have mine 3 weeks, love it , big feature is that my sensitive client notes are secure when traveling , if you ever had the horror of losing a notebook full of info you’d understand!

Honestly, these things feel more like writing on a whiteboard than a notebook.
