    One interesting thing about the Remarkable is there is a rich jailbreak community. Look for rehackable, if you still have the tablet it may bring some life into it. Things like free sync to google drive, offline wikipedia, full featured ebook reader, controlling your remarkable with a script from your laptop, turn a folder on your laptop to be a place you can drag files to appear on your remarkable.
    Once you have all your notebooks indexed on your Mac say, they are all OCRd by default and searchable from any Apple device, e.g. you can do a full text search on your iPhone and then quickly open the relevant document on the reMarkable. Interesting...

    Thanks for the review. I once bought the reMarkable, but then returned it due to limited e-book formats. I no own the Supernote and I am much happier with it.

      I concur. The Supernote is my daily driver at work.

      @@jeffreymoss I'm in 2 minds about which to get but leaning towards the remarkable. I had a Nikon camera before and barely touched it, my FujiFilm is technically inferior, but it's a work of art and something I reach for constantly and want to use. I struggle to motivate myself to write and journal, I have a feeling having a device I want to pick up and use will be more beneficial than the loss of functionality that may detract from the focus. I could be wrong.

      @@DigiDriftZone Well, the Remarkable is a very nice looking device. If that's a needed part of your motivation and you really just need something that replaces a pad of paper, then I don't see why the Remarkable wouldn't work for your needs. It isn't a bad device at all. It's just that competitors have leapt ahead of it in terms of features and functionality. But if those things are features you won't use (don't need to search documents, don't need color, etc.) then who cares? Really, in the end it's more about knowing what you want, what you might want, and then making sure your choice meets those requirements.

    Great video!
    Any opinions on the Boox Tab Ultra C that just came out?:)

    • @jeffreymoss

      I do! I don't have the device myself, but I do have experience with Boox products and with Kaleido 3 which is the screen used with the Tab Ultra C. I'd be careful about the hype of this product. Everyone seems to be all in on the device and are in a bit of a frenzy right now. Some of that is justified. The Tab Ultra was a well-regarded device, and the C just adds color to the mix. I'm guessing that most people will be happy with their purchase. And if money is no object, then it might be a no-brainer. But I would suggest to anyone to figure out how the device will fit into their lives and then determine if this device is the best one to meet those needs. For example, if you are looking for a notetaker almost exclusively, then the graphics processor which is at the core of the Tab Ultra experience might not come into play all that much. Color adds a nice dimension to the device, but Kaleido 3 has it's limitations -- it's no LCD screen. Once you are clear what you want the device to do for you, check out some video reviews and then see if it's a good fit. I highly doubt you would regret the C, but there might be something with a better fit that's cheaper. In my case, for example, I have the Supernote for my workplace and the Boox software, as feature-laden as it is, can't address the functionality I need each day (especially to-do marking). Hope that helps.

      Thank you so much for sharing your detailled thoughts. I have always used the boox devices to take notes and read pdfs/epubs until now, but also browse the web, process my emails, write and even use it as an external screen at some points. Basically, i try to reduce my eye strain byusing the books as much as possible. So I think I would indeed put the C to good use. For example, I am looking forward to being able to use some color when note taking to put more emphasis in text or do colored mind mapping in the boox (I discovered they have asort of infinite canvas feature, which is really neat). I would also like to use it as a less distracting writing device with its keyboard.
      The only thing I am “afraid” of is the greyish tint of the background. I don’t know how bad it is compared to the b&w e-ink screen of e.g. th boox note air or any eink device. Based on your experience with Kaleido 3, is the greyish tint/darker background annoying or does it reduce the usefulness of the device?

      @@yorgohoebeke K3 has a light grey background which does make it darker but no less functional. I think it will probably be fine for your needs. Sounds like you have thought out what you need the device to do, and I agree that the Tab Ultra C sounds like a good fit. My only remaining piece of advice is to order the device on Amazon. You get more when you order directly from Boox, but the return process is a nightmare.

    Thanks for the interesting video.. what put me off from buying the RM2 is the big chin at the bottom. When paired with the Keyboard Folio, it’s so off centred that it’s embarrassing… The design reminds me of Google Nexus 7 tablet eons ago…

    I just sold it recently and bought the Inknote color +, sadly there's not enough review for bigme. I wish we could see more comparison between boox tab c and inknote color +.

      @@jeffreymoss Would you say it's an all around upgrade? - Is there anything you miss about the Remarkable 2?

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  Рік тому +1

      @@DigiDriftZone Not really. I gave the RM2 a chance for a year and it just never caught on for me. All the while, I used the Note Air and the Supernote at work daily. The reason why the Inknote+ works so well for me, believe it or not, is because I can create to-do lists and then use the highlighter to cross off items in color. That's it. It sounds like nothing, but I really enjoy that color highlighter. It really makes a difference for me. And that, in a nutshell, is the maddening part of trying to figure out which device to buy. If you could try it out first hand, that would be great. But you can't. So it's a guessing game and everyone just tries to do their best to figure out what will work for them.
