Favorite video yet! This one really hits home. As I left in my other comment, my dad did some side work for a charter company here in Atlanta in addition to his regular work for Trailways and Greyhound. I am a huge Georgia Tech football fan and have been since middle school. When I was a senior in high school, I was headed to Tech the next year but had never been to one of our football games. That year, my dad picked up the football team charter for our hated arch rival, the University (sic) of Georgia, when they came to Atlanta to play my Jackets. Before he left that morning, he told me he would call if the UGA staff gave him a ticket and I could come down and go to the game. He called mid-morning and told me he could not get a ticket - I was so disappointed - but said they had given him a sideline pass and asked if that would be ok. YES!!! I headed to campus in downtown Atlanta and found him finally - no cells back then and I had no idea where anything was! - and it turned out the pass was actually a bench pass on the Georgia Tech sideline, not the UGA sideline! Unbelievable! My dad was able to get a pass from another driver who didn’t want to go in and he joined me. My first Georgia Tech game - of what now has to be 300+ plus - was at home, against our hated rival, standing amongst our players on our sideline, with my late father. And the cherry on top - we whipped them Dogs that day! It’s such a special memory now that he is gone - I even stumbled across a highlight video of that game on UA-cam and there is brief shot where I could see me standing with him, in his uniform, on the sideline. And all that was possible thanks to him being a bus driver. Your video made me reminisce about all that. To this day, I love awaiting the teams arrival for the pre-game walk. I wait where the charter buses drop them off and it’s quite the spectacle when they arrive, with the Georgia State Patrol escort, sirens blaring.
I've been driving buses and coaches for over 40yrs. I've done a few jobs with soccer teams where you get a police escort, you certainly get a buzz out of it. (Scotland)
Man...I chuckled at the pretrip inside LOL. We had one inside garage, but getting about 40 MC-9s started, warmed up, air building...the smoke was so thick you couldnt see the top of the bus all that well. One pretrip in the garage was the equivalent of 1 year of smoking LOL.
I to drive a charter when I am not driving a school bus (usually on week-ends). It's not on a grand scale such as your job, but it is fun to do. Our coaches are not quite as fancy as yours but they are nice. Awesome video. I also subscribed.
Interesting that the team stays in town before games although maybe it's common practice. The Iowa Hawkeyes always stay 25 miles up I-380 in Cedar Rapids before home games even though there's plenty of rooms in the Iowa City area.
Love the Police escort!! Love your vlog on this experience. I'm actually going to be having my 2nd interview (in 2 days!) with a company to become a Charter Bus Driver. Any advice for me? Thanks in advance! -A
Hey man! That's awesome. The world needs more motor coach operators. We are hiring too but you are probably not in the area. My advice to you would be always do your homework and plan out your trips the day before. Do not rely on a GPS. Use it as a tool to help you but never rely on them. We love drivers who are prepared and safe. Good luck to you and Thank you for watching! stay tuned. New videos are coming.
@@JWangvlogs Awesome, can't wait to see your next video. I'm in Cali (NorCal) BTW. Thinking about documenting the whole experience if I'm allowed to...if I make it to that point. Thanks again!
Love the videos James . I saw you had your clip board on the dash front windshield .I drive for major tour operator in Canada we run about 60 coaches, and our owner would not be pleased with any paper work on the dash like that . Doesn't look professional when people look into the coach ..Just Saying ..Keep up the great work ..
Most newer MCI models have a test mode where you can activate on the dash. It will cause every light to turn on exterior and you can check you break and backup lights that way. I leave a lot of the pre trip out because otherwise my video would be 1 hour long and no one would watch my channel lol!
Great question! Yes they do live in the same city. The day before a game the coach tries to keep the team confined so they do not go out and get drunk and not be able to play the next day!
You know, Ive never really measured the length of the dip stick. Its pretty long though and you have to be careful when taking it out so that you don't get Motor oil on your uniform.
James Wang bus I understand that when my instructor tells me the brand I will call your brand for a bus deadhead accept we leave our school at 6 am so if it is you guys leave the garage at 2:30 am so be at the school by 5:20 am then we board I will help load everything
A great video does to run is able to go down to a rotation Wednesdays and Fridays about planets and being in the profession of being in the business of sports.
it could be something that is hard to determine with the german problem and my guess is 1.5 hours and i can't tell you if everything will get cancelled due to too many issues in this language
It is my understanding that if you bring a bus load of people to the restaurant or fast food establishment that the bus driver eats free. Any truth to that?
Thought about working for yankee trails , then every time I take a trip to NYC or Boston and see the crap they have to go through in those large cities I’m like forget it , may do it just to experience it and see if I like it , but anything to get me out of the auto business I hate this industry

Hi Philip. Thanks for your comment. Thanks for watching! I think you would have to contact Peoria Charter and ask for the Urbana facility manager. 1-800-448-0572.
@@rockyfanatic6846 Wow, I am honored that you are requesting me to be your driver. If there are no schedule conflicts I would be honored to. You will have to call our 1-800 number and talk to our charter department and to book your bus and mention that you want to request me.
J Wang you are a charter driver I know it is at the end of the 7th grade band for me and in 8th grade for my Chicago trip I was not sure for 207 again or a badger bus

@@JWangvlogs Hmm, I am in the industry, so I enjoy these details. Thanks for your input 😃
J Wang I heard you got prevost buses
that parking lot at the beginning is tight I hate those kind of parking lots just takes 1 car to park outside the lines and your having to back out
Am comfuse why the sleep at the hotel you said is local so there not living in the same city ?

How many feet long is the dipstick on your MCI motorcoach?
You know, Ive never really measured the length of the dip stick. Its pretty long though and you have to be careful when taking it out so that you don't get Motor oil on your uniform.
@@JWangvlogs Thnks 😀
Steve Davenport it is 45 feet
@@rockyfanatic6846 I have never measured a dip stick but im pretty sure its not 45 feet long. That is how long the bus is.

I think buss are cool and I ride a bus in Dayton Ohio

What?
It is my understanding that if you bring a bus load of people to the restaurant or fast food establishment that the bus driver eats free. Any truth to that?
Depends on the client or the restaurant, most people think when the coach was built the driver was built in.
Some do some dont. LOL. I try to go to the ones that do. Great question!
