“Walkie Talkie” is hands down the best street photography series on UA-cam. Thank you for this insightful content - I appreciate you introducing me to all these great guests.
Videos has inspired me to become a photographer, I feel like anybody can have the vision. Just get a camera and that’s a step one for me
Yes I agree !
So dope! Paul B
truth
"The phone is dumbing my brain, you know what I mean?" Bro, we're all fighting it fr
Big Boss Andre showing us how it’s done.
"Life is always right now"
let that line alone stick to us everydayuj
Very inspiring and thanks to Andre for sharing his views.
We need the 45 min version!!
4:30 "what you wan't is on the other side of fear" bro... if this ain't the truth. I struggle a lot with street photography and this episode is helping me.
please never stop making these. love hearing these talented folks speak and shoot away. these are important! thank you
FACTS 💯💯💯
I dropped my phone when I saw Andre Wagner! Liked before even watching👍🏾💯👌🏾
drop that extended cut too!
This video brought back so many memories for me as they were walking through Bushwick on Broadway Ave. I use to live next door to Andre on Gates Ave 7 years ago but didn't; realize it until I was moving and leaving NY. I use to see him walking the streets all the time with a camera around his neck and I went to one of his exhibits, where I met him, but right before I was about to move from Bushwick, I was coming home and he was sitting on his front stoop right next door from me. I loved Bushwick and he captures it well. I'm a photographer too so it would have been cool to have gotten to know him better while we lived next door to each other. This was really nice to watch. His work is amazing!
without question my favorite episode. love how he photographed black life. a true contemporary great
The way this man just pulls up, snaps, and comes out with beautiful human moments is amazing. He's got perfect instincts.
Amen to Andre’s comments about the phone!! I feel the same way. Put the phone down especially when you’re outside walking. All the mindless scrolling. So very true!! 🙏🏾
“Making photographs on your own terms, that’s the dream” ❤️‼️💯
Not just his work; his photographic intelligence! I was completely wowed.
Andre just might be my favorite photographer working today. I love that passion and excitement that he brings with him and his work is always at the top level.
And that lady asking him to open her water was the cutest thing I’ve seen in weeks.
WHAT A GREAT MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER HE IS!! This is the next Gordon Parks!
Wow. I don’t know what rock I was living under but I did not know Andre Wagner and I am now embarrassed. His work is spectacular, and you sir are doing angels’ work bringing out these icons to your channel. I can’t thank you enough.
Hell yes. Love his work. Really connected with what he said about social media and your phone. So damn true.
Sooo true! I've asked my 12 year old granddaughter to watch this. I hope that she does and that his message(s) resonate with her. When she would visit me for the summer, I would only let her have an hour a day on the phone and she didn't mind because she was busy being exposed to many other things; that was deep how he put it! I even got a chance to take her to NYC to see Frozen on Broadway so her heart should remember this entire education. I absolutely loved everything about this series...fantastic!!!
This is great. The book recommendations, watching him shoot. His warmth and empathy really come through.
“It’s always right now” ❤
I'm just getting into photography, started an online class a week ago to begin learning the basics. stumbling across this channel and hearing all these photographers' philosophies has really inspired me on another level.
I just watched Andre speak with Jamel Shabazz at the opening of his Gordon Parks Fellowship exhibition and then to see this on here.. wow. Heavily inspired. Wow. Timing.
Really, really, really appreciate you for this one Paulie. It’s so hard for Black photographers to get love & shine on their work. Been a huge fan of Dre’s work for several years now and even got to shoot his portrait when I came to NYC in 2018. Keep doing your thing Paulie! Happy New Year, see you on the other side! 🎉
It's great to see Andre D. Wagner on UA-cam talking about his work and in action.
I could listen to Andre for hours
Andre has such a connection to his environment, you can see it thru out the video and its to the point that no one bats an eye when he photographs them.
“Always right now” is absolutely perfect. I have missed so many waiting for next time. Peace and good light my friends.
This is my favorite one so far... Andre, you're the man.
Thanks for having Andre on. Such a nice guy. Great body of work emerged from his perspective on the street. Good questions -- Andre's responses made me think.
goddamn this was a great episode. i 100% understand why MacAndre would watch this over n' over. this dude seems to truly embody realness. to understand how special an opportunity is to shoot on set BTS stuff... but not losing the ability to recognize, and acknowledge, how street photography is what his soul needs? like. that's what's up.
Photography of place over a decade, I love that and being able to look back and see how you took it say 10 years ago. It's not all about people walking into a shaft of light , although that's nice and I do like it and ive done it myself its not all there is on the street.
Extended Version would be AMAZING.
Procrastination is my worst habit. “It’s always right now”. Going to keep that in mind.
very import messages here about putting that phone down.
so good. we need that extended cut asap.
Dre the GOAT
“You need a little bit of seriousness to it. It can’t be all like, ‘oh we kickin’ it, having beers, like, photography is so fun!’” Definitely feel this way with a bunch of people on Instagram, they only do it for fun. I started doing it for fun but I just got back from a trip to Mexico with my family and I am astounded by how serious I was while taking some photos. There came a time in the three years that I’ve been shooting film that I stopped looking at my photos as just photos and it started to become my work. Work that I love and that I’m constantly trying to do more of. Being in the moment is definitely something to bask in. His mantra is super true. I missed a beautiful photo of my dad in Mexico because I waited too long and the moment passed me.
Always appreciate his work so much, and his thoughts on not only the process, but life as well 🙏🏽 Extended cut please
I really hope that this channel blows up so that you get to make walkie talkies with photographer all around the world. Love your work, keep it up
Been doing street seriously for about a year now, but I have to say that I’m tired of people on their phones everywhere, I feel like documenting zombies, but anyway, love this series it’s the best ! Keep them coming, thanks !
ITS ALWAYS RIGHT NOW! great message!
Haven't even watched it yet and I already know it'll be a classic.
Andre is so cool and real. Wishing him great success with his photography.
Thank you
one of the best from my generation! love his outlook on life and photography.
The episode I didn't know I was waiting for
awesome interview! thank you for the work you put into these videos.
Photographing buildings and construction is important. Manhattan, Brooklynn and and the Bronx are being torn down and replaced with soulless glass towers, what we know of as the city will soon be gone. Also, I love the snow photographs, its the NY no one thinks about. I also think you nailed the phone culture. Nice work!
What really touched me about this Walkie Talkie is about how you represent yourself trhow photography cause sometimes you´re trying to copy someone you like and in this process you loose what you´re trying to portrait with your work. Always remember who you are because street photography is no more than how you see the world that surounds you
Legend
Yooooo one of my favo photographers ever, such a cool guy with a great mind and eye
Two Legends!
I’ve been following this man for a long time and I too shoot right in this area. Crazy crazy.
This guy is great and totally on the money. He mentioned "Dave Heath" - I have a friend, an retired art professor that was best friends with Dave and has his done extensive work getting his name and photography out there.
