I would like to know a bit more about when you choose whether to switch compound or pads or perhaps both when you want to get more cut or less cut or better finish, for example. I understand this is a topic where experience comes in. But with your fantastic way of explaining I a sure you can make it understandable.
As I have been commenting on the Mercese series, this is exactly what I love to see. The different steps in this types of jobs. With the little xtra tips and techniques. It is a real honour to be able to take part of this. This is my absolute favourite youtube channel.
Excellent content, Brian! Thank you for sharing. As a fellow full time detailer I appreciate the depth that you go in to. It's always refreshing to hear someone else's perspective.
Your videos are detailed and informative. Your teaching style is incredibly effective. I appreciate how often you take the time to visually demonstrate what you are describing. Your videos are full of evidence that explain your reasoning and/or claims. You are true mentor and teacher. Thank you.
Super excited to see a full "resto" on one of your many Corvette projects! Definitely am a bit saddened to see a poor Vette in this condition though :/
Im watching and just getting into it...aww crap gotta wait another day. I need an hour and a half movie or something with this stuff. Great job Brian, very insightful and informational. Until the next video
I was doing my washes like this, using 5-6 wash mediums (mits or in my case 800 gsm microfibers) years ago and people thought I was nuts for doing it, now I see it on UA-cam....LOL! My black cars, which I've had black vehicles since 1992, have always been beautiful. I have been telling customers at the dealership how to maintain their Mercedes' or Volvos by touching the paint in the least amount possible for years too, as the parts manager. With detailing experience comes knowledge and I've been detailing since 1998, professionally... clients end up being directed to my parts counter for help. I probably could make a rather profitable side business consulting people. Our dealership owner has joked saying, I need to be charging people for the information, since his detailing dept isn't getting the work, because I'm teaching his new car clients how to keep their vehicles beautiful, although he might not be joking, lol. Although, he's been told multiple times that clients have come back for repeat purchases because they feel they're important to us, and the other dealers in the area simply say our detailing dept charges...and that's it all about the money!
Good video Brian. Maybe I missed something in your other videos but this one shows a wash has more to it than wash and rinse, showed the detail of using the hand brush. Thanks!
Another great project to share. I had this same color Vette and know how great that it can look. I’m sure that one will be 100% improved over the next few videos. 👍👍
Well it isn't one of those red (orange) disasters I normally see. I don't know where they sorced their red and clear from but it can get nasty. Almost like the Fords that just shed their paint back in the day. The era of cutting corners to save a nickle was the 80's! This looks like a very good series for the person looking for the little tricks you can only learn with time.
I’d change the oriface tip on your snow lance- so it’ll shoot more foam. Typically I’d see how steep prices are for those but hunting them down pays.. @$2.45.
Great video Brian, can't wait till you do a full correction on a soft paint vehicle. Also, do you ever do a sheeting rinse with an open stream of water? I find it extremely useful to remove most of the water before using the leaf blower, and drying towel.
Ok I have a question Would love to see the following videos 1. Comparison of all the top rinseless wash products 2. A run down of the Microfiber towels you use on a daily basis .
Problem with using a leaf blower to dry car is: if your water isn't distilled or deionized, you are leaving all those minerals on the surface. This leads to a dull, hazy appearance, cutting down on shininess. These minerals can then get embedded into the clear coat, and at a minimum, remain to scratch the clear coat (or ceramic, whatever you have). Using a special drying towel PICKS UP all that water with the solids!!! A good towel won't scratch your car. "Touchless" drying only works if you have 100% pure H20.
Don't know that I would use a leaf blower to get the water off the car unless door jambs, hood and trunk openings have been washed and rinsed thoroughly so the blower doesn't bring grit out of those areas and onto the outer surfaces.
Great video, but may I add a correction: the name of the Corvette's color is Dark Bowling Green Metallic, which was available only in 2000 and 2001. There was a Fairway Green that was available in 1997, and is a lighter shade of green. Keep up the great work! (I own a DBGM Vette and love how it looks in the sun!)
I thought I was the only too that used a leaf blower. Why some people spend thousands for the garage mounted blowers made just for drying cars still fascinates me.
Been lurking for a while Brian. Just wanted to thank you for all you do. I appreciate your character and in the manner in which you purport yourself. Also, I found the DPC rinseless wash here and have been blown away by it. I've been a long time ONR guy - and I don't think I'll ever go back! On the subject of a video, it would be nice to know how the Pros deal with large vehicles. I have a new F150 King Ranch and dealing with the windshield, back of the hood is a huge pain. Same goes to the large sun/moon roof up top and my bed cover. Are there some good pole tools?
Is always nice to see your videos man, you know, there is an alcaline shampoo named Active Diamond by Nerta, it can wash away all the dirt with a non touchless facility, it even decontaminate surfaces, i highly recommend it, it save a lot of money and effort on my details, you use it with a snow foam, let him do his thing and then rinse down to roof in order to create a washing machine effect with the water and the snow
Please use a tripod and less free hand camera shots. It makes it more enjoyable to watch. Thanks for creating great content and best regards from a danish home detailer.
Hello Brian, I have several question pertaining to the tools and the service being done to this Vette. 1) You were spraying the side panels first. What was the reason for that. 2) What type of spray bottle you were using. 3) What is the name and type of spray nozzle you were using with the hose. 4) What type of foam cannon you were using to foam the Vette. 5) What type of brush you were using to clean the emblems with. 6) what would be the total cost of this type of paint correction and the amount of days would a car be in your garage for this type of job. Love that two bucket system. Thanks.
1. That was traffic film removal. 2 Marolex 3. MTM SG28 4. MtM Pf 22 5. Soft bristle detail brush....any will do. 6. Prices vary region to region greatly.
Great video, should be a very educational series! Which pressure washer trigger is that? If I’m going to buy an electric pressure washer, what PSI do I need to look for? One for foam cannons and general rinsing. I’ve noticed that electric doesn’t offer regulators to adjust the PSI, like some of the gas pressure washers out there. Thx
Question.. you washed that car in gravel? You used a pressure washer as well. Wouldn't that pressure washer kick up dirt particles in that gravel? Where in PA are you? Pittsburgh or philly side
I put 368 0061 2 k clear glamour on my c 6 corvette on the back end of car. IT HAS RUINED MY CAR. I need to know how to remove this. It was peeling and I lightly sanded with 1,500 and 2,000 and put on 368 0061 They difference is like black and white. I’m almost embarrassed to drive my car. I was doing this to detail and sell my c 6 and my a c 7. If I can not get the shine back or 368 0061 off I will NEVER be able to cell my car. Hope you can help me out. Thanks so much. Dave
Apex Detail Sorry! I haven’t seen those videos but I was just thinking about this corvette! You are an amazing detailer and you didn’t mention those sections of the car. Please forgive me for my ignorance. I truly appreciate your videos Brian.
It’s interesting you’ve gone back to a more traditional wash system instead of sticking with your rinseless system. Did you do that because you’re just more effective with free flowing water or was there some other reason? Were you just too limited with your rinseless system?
Using your one bucket with multiple mitts method is brilliant! It's the rinseless wash method but with free flowing water for the rinse. It's by far the best method ever! 2 buckets with grit guards is old school, and should be dropped by everyone. Rinsing a mitt in the clear water bucket, and scraping it on a grit guard doesn't remove all the grit. Pushing the mitt down to the grit guard is a hydraulic action that forces the grit off the bottom, and back into solution and onto the mitt, and ultimately the paint. To my thinking that's just dumb!! Having a new fresh soap soaked mitt for each area pass over the dirty vehicle makes so much more sense! I just tried this one bucket multi-mitt method on my black truck. Wow!!, it's definitely a better method for sure. Instead of buying grit guards, just buy more mitts. When I finished the wash, the bucket of soapy water was still clean, and clear. I could have added more clean mitts, and done another round of washing if my truck was especially dirty which I sometimes have done with the 2 bucket method. Instead of just dumping the still clean soapy water, I threw all the dirty mitts into the bucket to give them a prewash before doing a full washing machine wash.
What would your favorite iron/ best to use. I need some at the nissan dealer I work at and the cars that come on train (bunch of rail dust) ive used angelwax and it helps but I feel like there are better out there. Also have used technician choice and I personally think that is completely trash
Brian, is there a card or something that identifies the type of clear coat on a vehicle? Is it by manufacturer? How do I know if I'm with with a hard, medium, or soft clear coat?
I will try to cover all types of wool, microfiber and foam CUT PADS in this series.
Apex Detail you are the man 👍🏻
when you washed it you use a detail brush that a dedicate brush for the car or a paint brush ? looking forward to the series of the corvette
awesome...so many type of wool out there, also microfibers and uropads etc.. :-)

Super excited to see a full "resto" on one of your many Corvette projects! Definitely am a bit saddened to see a poor Vette in this condition though :/
It is a bit rough...but in good hands now.🙂
I love that green. manufacturers today are not using green. it's all white, black or silver. can't wait to see the finished product.
Looking forward to you correcting this C5 in it's very rare color Brian🛎
I favor that color as well.
Keep it up, the comparison videos are fun but these are so helpful and educational for a rookie like me!
Most comprehensive and educational channel on the net! Thank you so much for sharing!
Looking forward to another series like this I always learn something from them. Your C4 looks perfect!
Starting another series! I am in! Got my popcorn!

Hey Brian! Your C4 looks like glass! I can't wait to see the outcome of this one at the end of this series!

Congratulations on the storm water runoff permit. That's a big one.

I absolutely loved the hunter metallic green! So nice!
Love the prep work! Very informative.

Severely damaged. It looks alright for severely damaged.

Is there a reason to shy from using a stripping wash soap opposed to a spray?
That clear coat really doesn't look factory. Has the car been re-clearcoated?
Ohh yeahh! Following!!
Hey Brian can you post a link to those buckets you use? Excellent video as always!
I found them at a restaurant supply store.
I want that portable foam cannon :/
Love these series. Are you now completely switching back to soap and water rinse or will you still use the rinseless procedure as well?
Only when needed. Such as after correction and heavily soiled cars.
Hello sir. What about cleaning under the hood or engine compartment and door and hatch jams? A wipe out just isn’t clean enough, right?
Correct...I have showed that process in many older videos.

Brian, I'm in the look out for a premium pressure washer lately. What do you think of the Comet and a Kranzle 1622. I'm still deciding for either or.
Two good mid tier washers....flip a coin. 🙂

Not that I know of. I started a chart....But never got a chance to complete it.
