In areas like that fender vent, where only a small pad with rotary can be used comfortably, how do you avoid getting holograms from the rotary work? When/If a DA cannot be used.
Apex Detail hi Brian. Wow what a excellent video. So much information for me to absorb thank you. I really like Griot’s microfiber fast finishing pad. It’s red I think it’s like on medium to low profile. I really like using it with Maguires 300 or Griot’s correcting compound for a one step. It is aggressive enough to get out larger defects but also finishes down excellent and produces a very good shine. Again Brian thank you very much this is one of your best videos to date him like I said you gave me so much information to absorb with all the different kinds of pads it can be really confusing. Thank you so much for helping to clear that amazing video.👍👍 It has always give a hug to take you know who your dog Forgot to ask this question at what temperature Does it start to get dangerous for ruining the clearcoat
I’m no detailer, nor do I have a wannabe show car. I’m just a dude who found your channel researching things for my own vehicle, but I subbed and enjoy your videos because of your professionalism and the well-presented interesting content. Keep it up. I wish you much success.
I never was a fan of the polo green Corvettes. After seeing how beautiful this C5 turned out my opinion has forever changed. Thanks for sharing your knowledge : )
I loved this series and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. The next time you do a series like this, please end the video with a quick before and after in the sun. I went back to the first video and I don't think people can truly appreciate your efforts without comparing the final result to the original condition. Thanks!
Thanks for taking the time & effort to make these videos! As a weekend warrior, I needed this series! I have a ‘05 F350 original paint which needs some correcting. I was nervous about doing the corrections but your series gave me confidence to go ahead with the job. Thanks again for all you do making your videos! I know it slows down the job. You are a great instructor, who gives clear, consistent instructions & explains the thought process behind it. I always look forward to seeing your next video!
Another great series of paint correction videos; I learned how different each pad's surface can be. Thanks for the effort to produce these time consuming topics!
Just found this channel within the last 2 hours and you just post part 5 after I've viewed parts 1-4. Very informative and makes me want to do this to my older car. Many thanks, keep up the great work and great videos!
Wow, blown away by your knowledge, skill, content and professionalism. Learning a ton from you and I do appreciate your time and energy that you give this channel. Regards. C
Thank you so much for these videos. I’m still learning the art of polishing and this gave me some good insight into the different pads. The C5 looks great and that green is amazing.
Brian! I saw the vette! Since you started it. You Sir ! It's a absolutely Beautiful Metallic green Corvette ! Even without a protection! Gorgeous! And Thank you very much for showing how all the pads work! Always Awesome! As Usual!
I’ve watched a ton of your videos and definitely trust your techniques and recommended products. I haven’t gotten to brave today go too far into detailing but feeling more confident the more I watch and learn
Thanks for another great series. I understand detailing a lot better than I did before I found your channel. I always look forward to your content. You simplify things so well. 👍🤓
Excellent job and as always, excellent video! I'm just the average guy trying to fix stuff on my own cars, but boy do I learn a lot from watching your videos! Great content and very valuable tips every time. Thank you for sharing!
I really enjoyed this series there is so much to learn about all the different pads. Before I watched these and other Apex videos I was terrified to wet sand my clear coat, but seeing how simple it is and how easily sanding marks can be polished away you have taken my fear and trepidation away from doing the process. For us amateurs I think it would be best to stick with the same one or two compounds and keep a variety of pad available. I wish some of the better heavy cut compounds came in the smaller 8 oz bottles.
Excellent video series, I have just began to learn about polishing cars. When my husband asked a question on a certain pad a actually had somewhat of the right answer and he just looked at me as if I shouldn't have known... I said that's right I know things.... lol Thanks Brian for all your very informative vids! Merrie~Merrie
When you started to talk about car covers my PTSD kicked in. Back in the mid 80's I had two red cars that I installed bra's on. Cleaned each car regularly but left the bra's on for the first 6 months, I need not tell you what i found when they came off. I worked forever trying to clean up the mess the bra's left on the clear coat. Both cars were never the same so I had a choice leave the imperfections in plain view or put the bra's back on. So with many coats wax the bra's went back on. Have a challenge for you: Using only products found at the Dollar Tree detail a car, call it the Dollar Tree challenge!!!!!
Awesome video serie and not just about the different cutting pads but loads of other information. Thanks for shareing your work and experience with us Brian!
Nice work! I would like to talk to you about qp-on. I bought the system for my business and it has changed things immensely. Sorry if i took this video in another direction guys.
Very nicely done series, informative and well explained. Great tip at the end with extensions and smaller pads. I have a torq random orbital buffer and use hex loxic orange cutting pad for the correction, but cant quite get as many scratches out that i would like. Im a little scared of burning through the clear coat and probably go too fast over an area. Could or would you give any hints or suggestions to me about doing a better job. Thanks for your time and response if possible. Great job on all your video's. Keep up the great work.
Hi Brian I would like to thank you for the time and money you spend to make these videos, it must get expensive buying all these products to make and compare them all. Can you send a link to where you buy the smaller pads used for under the doors and such. Also will the fit a Drexel
@@exceldetail , it's actually in video #2 that he discusses which compound/polish. When he starts using the wool pads. And he does discuss which 3D products he uses. However, he never shows or discusses what he uses when he gets to the foam pads. When he switches from pad to pad here and uses them on the panels, the video cuts only show the product already on the pad and he goes to work. He never says if he uses the ACA 500 extra cut or just the 3D One or a combination of the two like he showed that he likes to use when using the wool pads. And the ACA 500 says it's for wool pads. Like LDel95, I would also love to know what he uses with the foam pads. I've watch the videos several times. It's possible I somehow skipped something during the foam pad video but I don't think so.
Hey ! for You Clowns out there~!! Go and check out a Marketing Chanel~!!!! lmao!!!!!!!!!!!! Brian...You are the Best !! That car came out Awesome and We All learned a ton from this series~!!! Thank-You So Much!~!!
You have been killing it Brian! You have inspired me to make a detailing channel also. I am only able to upload once a week but I am hoping to one day be on your level! (If anyone is wondering its not the channel I am commenting from, I made a new one for detailing only)
I know I already posted a question on an earlier video in the series, but I will be using those hexlogic pads. Will the orange be enough with megs ultimate compound to cut out moderate swirls with the c5's hard clearcoat? I also have perfect finish and 3Done but I feel they dont have enough cut
I used those hex pads from Lake Country and they all failed on me. They completely lost all thickness to them, nearly flat in the center of the pads. Unless AutoGeek sent me some counterfeit pads, I'll never buy them again, complete waste of money. BTW: Nice turnaround on the Vette B! That car looked horrible before you got your hands on it.
Maybe I missed it, but what do you do to the clear coat under the tape? You put it on top of the gaps to avoid dust getting in there. Nyt what about the 3-5 milimeters of clear coat on each side ? How do you correct that ? This is by the sat a fantastic series....I learn so Much from this. Thank you....
Excel Detail Thanks! I must have missed that. I also have a Stingray and it needs a light polish to amp up the gloss. No swirls visible, but I can tell I have lost a little gloss recently. I was thinking about trying a Rupes Yellow Foam pad, since Corvette clear is on the harder side.
I have a question kinda related to last video. After fresh paint job how soon after is it ok to wash and detail( aka) wax it? If I am correct in one of videos you mentioned something about letting new paint or clear gas off.
Apex Detail follow up question well 2 of them. Just watched last why is set up of little sanding block you used on Vette door? And have you done, sure you have; video of which pad to use and when to use them.
Subscribed, and look forward to your teachings. But, if you have the time, tell me how on earth do you polish an Optima? I tried an orange pad and CarPro Fixer but it left a haze. I went to the finest polish (reflect) and a white pad and it "smeared". I know its soft paint but damn, what's it gonna take? I also tried the trunk with Griots Cutting and Finishing polishes (which did better) on an orange pad but I am still not getting the mirror look. Its as if there is still a milky haze. Of course, it was washed with reset, decon with iron x and tar x, clay bar and ipa wipedown. bmw, easy. mercedes, easy. gm, easy. Even ford is easy. But this car? nightmare... So, what am I doing wrong? Oh, the machine was a flex 3" da on medium speed with medium arm movement. Thanks for ANY help you can offer me.
A ton of content to come....STAY TUNED!!! Love ya all!!!
alberto
The best part is it'll go back to being swirled from someone else's washing and waxing. :D

Beautiful just beautiful!!
Love your perspective on preserving vs chasing perfection. Can’t wait for more content. 😀
I never was a fan of the polo green Corvettes. After seeing how beautiful this C5 turned out my opinion has forever changed. Thanks for sharing your knowledge : )
You are definitely my remote mentor good sir. I don't even bother with other channels anymore. I know when I come here I will get the facts.
I loved this series and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. The next time you do a series like this, please end the video with a quick before and after in the sun. Awesome as always 👍
Thanks so much for these series.. so much info. The car looks great!! Did you polish with AW Perfect Polish?
You should change your name to the Detail Scientist!!
Loved this series. Only thing I wish you did: tell what compound/polish you were using in each operation along the way

Good to hear. Upload quality content on a daily basis...and you will do just fine.
Sure there may be some scratches left, but the color is what really came out after the polishing.
looks great , looking forward to more great content!!
wow, the customer must love the results ... yes ?
Great info sharing on the series! Have you ever come across polishing cars with ceramic coating applied? I can’t seem to find any videos on this.
This was an actual course in detailing
Prof, that Vette came out brand new. Any tips on removing swirls and scratches on a 1 year old carbon fiber hood or any carbon surfaces.
How much would you charge for a job like you did on this Vette? Looks wonderful. Thanks for the video. Take Care
Great explicit
Should purchase a low profile-body type lift would save your back
My 6k lb lift is getting hydrolics....hope to have it soon.

Damn that auto correction in my phone....and the fact im from Denmark isnt making it easyer.....;-)
I move the tape back slightly after each step....blending it in.
Thank you again sir
Brian does the liquid polish help keep the temperature down. Less friction?
Absolutely.🙂
Bryan, what did you use for polish and pad for the last step after cutting?
Excel Detail Thanks! I must have missed that. I also have a Stingray and it needs a light polish to amp up the gloss. No swirls visible, but I can tell I have lost a little gloss recently. I was thinking about trying a Rupes Yellow Foam pad, since Corvette clear is on the harder side.
I have a question kinda related to last video. After fresh paint job how soon after is it ok to wash and detail( aka) wax it? If I am correct in one of videos you mentioned something about letting new paint or clear gas off.
30 to 60 days before applying protection. Depending on the type of clear.
Apex Detail follow up question well 2 of them. Just watched last why is set up of little sanding block you used on Vette door? And have you done, sure you have; video of which pad to use and when to use them.

Angelwax Perfect Polish is fantastic on those super soft clears.
If all the pads are identical in pattern, than why not buy the cheapest?
Cheaper pads mean cheaper material.
What protection did you use after ?
SB3 Alpha
A little bit over the extreme for the average guy other detailers think you're probably over board nutty
What's your favorite foam pad brand?
Buff and Shine
👍👍👍
What about protection? :(
I ended up applying SB3 Alpha.
Apex Detail haven’t heard of that! But must have looked even better after that!
