What worked for xiaomi was giving options to users to turn off ads, letting them use custom roms while giving warranty ( if your phone gets bricked while flashing new rom, you can still claim warranty), no paid ads or billboards(creating hype using social media which is free), no actors to take royalty and keeping less than 5% margins.

I've been using xiaomi twice now (2019-now) since my old samsung from 2016 always ran out of space for no reason even though i don't really donwload anything. Xiaomi is really good for a budget friendly smartphone, they manage to fix problems that both samsung and iphone flawed in; memory space and battery life expectancy. The recent xiaomi phones even has fast charging where you can get a full battery in just under 25 minutes (without using it or turn on the hotspot during charging)
Early Xiaomi devices really changed the world's prejudice on "made in China" techs. I've owned about 10 different models of their phone line up & currently on Poco f3. Will upgrade to Apple once they start using USB C
Arguably DJI is the bigger name for high tech made in China things, though, giving that even their consumer oriented stuffs is now somehow sufficient even for military uses. Xiaomi is more on bringing cost efficient stuffs rather than high tech ones, and in fact, in China they are actually kinda better known for just selling everything, from phones to home electronics to even jackets and backpacks, and their single use batteries and ballpoint pens are oddly good value despite they probably don't sell a lot of. And better yet, their stores are actually called Mi Home rather than Mi Store and that speaks itself.

I bought my first Xiaomi phone in 2015 after using the Mi3 for a day. MUI was at another level compared to other androids. Since then I'm using their phones and Never thought of switching to another brand in the last few years. But now things have changed, every other smartphone brand has similar phones and similar features. and Xiaomi screwed up MIUI with ads and bugs. Updates became fewer. The same MIUI which attracted me to them is their con now. But the incredible feat they have achieved in 10 years is astonishing. They have the tech to make groundbreaking phones. All they have to do is make MIUI great again and stop copying stuff from Apple.
I love so much the amount of info I learn in this this channel and the amount of effort put into his videos and... No annoying ads, no time wasted in self promotion (like, subscribe, share, etc) and no bullsh*t.
I was extremely skeptical about Xiaomi until I used Xiaomi Mi5. Only Xiaomi and HTC could actually code their OS according to Chipset. Sadly MIUI is too heavy now.
MIUI is more buggy and less innovative now because it seems to me Xiaomi is releasing soooo many devices that they just can't make it work everywhere. The software engineers must be one step from killing themselves with all the work they have to do. Bare in mind that despite the big growth and tons of devices etc the company is still a lot smaller compared to Huawei, Samsung, Apple etc. So they don't have as many people perfecting the software despite having many times more different devices out there than those companies. The release something every damn week. How can anyone keep up trying to release software on a gazillion devices.
@@SIPEROTH MIUI is bad on "non Xiaomi" phones aka redmis and pocos. Xiaomi Mi 10t lite is a much better experience than the "more powerful" Poco X3 pro.
@@HAWXLEADER Well even if they focus more on their first line Mi devices isn't that still wrong? You can say POCO is a little split from them but REDmi is completely Xiaomi, they simply put the REdmi name in-frond of it so they can sell other type devices without confusing it with the simple MI devices. Is even called RedMI. Still Mi devices but RED-MI devices.
@@JeZZGro I won't say my devices are a buggy mess or anything but i got some freeze and glitches every now and then when it never happened before. After every big update it also needs factory reset to work well as well. Also their updates are slow as hell at times. My Redmi 9 Pro just got Android 12, not even 12.1 and Miui 13 when Android 13 is coming out. And the update screwed the drop down menu when in landscape mode as well(clumsy stuff). Also i used to spend 10 minutes to deactivate all add stuff on my Xiaomi device and then used it fine without ever seeing an ad. Not any more. Now every now and then an ad pops up and for the love of me i don't know how they pass it threw since i deactivated everything. BUT, THE ABSOLUTE WORSE, is just the lack of innovation. Even conservative Apple that likes to keep things working as it is has innovated much much more the last few years. When i first got a MIUI phone the system was amazing! Features that you couldn't find anywhere else, a nice designed environment etc, it showed this company started by making Android skins and software. Now, NOTHING! Just NOTHING! No new user ability to modify lock screen etc, no new features on how to use the phone and abilities. Hell they even remove great things they had replacing it with the basic Google stuff. No new productivity features. Just got MIUI 13 and i see no difference from all the 12 versions at all.

You will find Mix series is ridiculously premium even compared to apple and Samsungs of those times. I mean Apple and Samsungs were plastics and glass while Mix series was ceramics.
I really love your content Aaron. So Top notch & super detailed🔥. Mad love from Kenya🇰🇪
As a side note, they could have skipped 7 as it is considered unlucky in China. "Seven can also be considered an unlucky number since the 7th month (July) is a "ghost month". It also sounds like "to deceive" (欺, pinyin: qī) in Mandarin."
The production value of these videos is insane. Definitely does not go unnoticed
7:53 that sound is so cute
16:27 of course its not a mrwhosetheboss video without a rickroll

Arun’s getting too good with his contextual jokes 😂
What worked for xiaomi was giving options to users to turn off ads, letting them use custom roms while giving warranty ( if your phone gets bricked while flashing new rom, you can still claim warranty), no paid ads or billboards(creating hype using social media which is free), no actors to take royalty and keeping less than 5% margins.
I love this series though it's really expensive to make. I love your details on all the units and giving it easy understanding for non or newbie in understanding tech.
Huge kudos as always Arun. ❤️🎉
Agreed yo
Same I wish Arun makes a vid on Asus sometime but probably never gonna happen
@@TemkaUwU Give it time. Sourcing all the phones released every year is difficult to find nowadays especially if it's sealed and unused. If he ever reads this comment, it would give him the idea to it next or he maybe doing it behind the scenes and we never know, so be patient.

Man, I still remember how astonished I was when the Mi 10 Ultra came out. I love how tech evolves so fast.
i got into xiaomi thru the pocophone f1, still the best phone ive ever had
The F1 really made them a player in Europe
Same here, I also really like it's finger print sensor on the back.
And it's form factor is the best I've ever seen, it's thin, light, not too big and feels so good in the hand.
Videos like these put into perspective how far mobile phones have become and how much better they will become given the right perspective

Finally a video I'm interested in....pity we can't buy them in Australia without taking the risk of buying from dodgy overseas websites
Hello I am the second comment on this video
Ok
Good on you because I also live in australia
You know who else can put a smile on your face? Me! I make entertaining content as well, come see for your self and tell me what you think I can do better !🔥
I'm Australian and have bought from both Kogan and AliExpress with no issues. Also bought a xiaomi phone from Amazon AU once.
this guy rickrolls us in a different way in every single video without even us knowing
boss i remember the mi4
my mom, dad, grandma all used to own a mi 4 ,redmi 4A and more, the redmi 4a looked exactly like the mi 4 , and i still have it but it doesnt work anymore
being an s22 ultra user rn, i can say that xiaomi still manages to keep up with the greatest
i remember playing pubg all day long on the redmi 4A , brings me back
These are the types of videos that keep me entertained. Brilliant video as usual, Arun!
Arun has every piece of phone history 🔥
The editor is doing a marvelous job. As an editor myself I know how hard it is to pull off those effects. Accept my regards!
I had never heard of this company until I started watching this channel, like literally never. The word "Xiaomi" had never been spoken or written in front of me before until I found this channel a few months ago. That's wild to me, how such a massive company in such a major industry was just not something I had ever heard.
I really love the way he presents his topic; plus, his highly detailed and simple visualization.
The effort you put into your videos are just insane
Love the edit on this

Got mi 10t in 2020. This was the best phone for the price. And this ui is abit different compared to other phones (like Im swiping for 'back' button) but definitely ok for daily use.
The only con is the screen is still lcd
Watching and typing this from my 6 year old Xiaomi mi 6!!! I was looking for a durable, performing phone back then. Guess I picked the right one! :D Best phone I ever had and still works amazingly, actually. Beautiful design, allows me to accomplish all of my tasks, good enough camera, decent speed...
Aside from battery life, which decreased as expected after 6 years of use. I feel sooo satisfied about my pick, and also afraid that if I get a new phone, it might not last me as long as this one :/.
I might upgrade for a better battery and camera, but my phone will leave the game like a champ. 💪🏻
Gg 2017 Xiaomi 😏👏🏻👏🏻
That is impressive!
i'm not even kidding i'm ready to pay a huge amount of money to watch this guy because of how much he puts on his videos and man you deserve every bit of support and love you're getting because you had proven you deserve it in every aspect on this platform

As someone that has had xiaomi/huawei phones for a long time now, i love them. You literally get features that other phones dont; i personally love that i can theme my phone however i want without having to download different apps for it, the fact that you can play games for free, and listen to youtube with the screen off. Very good brand
I still use my Mi 9T and still love it. Love the beautiful screen, the fancy pop up selfie camera, the big battery and MIUI of course 🙌
2:20 Now we know what time Arun really records his vids
I have been a Xiaomi fan since 2015 ❤️
Thank you so much for highlighting Xiaomi's journey 👍🏻
And that was xiaomi's main goal
you mean downgrade* to Apple
I wish they had a better reputation for software support. I've been really tempted by them lately.
4:45 I do remember this time. It was like we were fighting to buy this smartphone. Unluckily I wasn’t able to purchase it due to the rush.😂😂😢
14:14 I still have that Mi5, 3GB/32GB varient. Still a very good phone for casual use, just needs a battery replacement.
The fact that he is filming this at 12 in the night is just it for me
Got my 9t long time ago, and still enjoying it. Such a shame they don't make pop up cameras anymore
For real, the last one was like poco f2 pro.
Fr, pop up cameras seem like such a good idea. It was probably because there was some problems adding that feature.
U can't add IP rating on phone with pop up camera. Plus not that powerful
@@justinsm Every single phone even those without an official IP rating are build to not die instantly when they get wet. Also warranty does not accept water damaged phones.
I do not like pop up cameras that much because what if the pop-up mechanism breaks or something? If you have other opinions, feel free to tell me about it
Can we just stop and appreciate how much he spends just for us to see what the products actually is like in DETAILS
It's clearly an investment and this video will make many times more than that in revenue.. I don't really understand comments like this, he's not doing it for charity.
He is not doing it out of the goodness of his heart, he is sponsored and he gets paid by ad revenue when people watch it
@@Begohan1234 I agree with you, but he could have spent a lot less and still earned lots
Yeah

Bro is about to get his hands on every phone in the world
Already did that almost!
oh he will
Lol
THE PHONE BOSS
Yea lol his next vid he just gets every device on the planet
I would have loved to see some photos taken in different environments and lights with all the phones for comparison.
Another well thought out content. Thanks for pumping these stuff out, Arun!
The fact that the phones are reasonably cheaper and not money-eating, the software and performance stuff is just genuinely mind blowing!
@@SIPEROTH I have Mi 10 and i had 0 bugs and problems.
No one gonna talk about earphone jack at 9:30 🤣🤣🤣
I really love all your high effort videos! Best tech channel indeed! :)

Watching this from the original Mi8! I actually think people don't realize how good this phone still is. The screen on this is just better than the one in my new tab s8, and the camera with gcam produces impressive portraits. Best buy I ever made
I would have loved to see if the cases sponsored here did break any phones in real case scenarios!
