At almost 71, I have been eating Keto and Intermittent Fasting(and OMAD once a week) for about 3 years. It's not a diet. I go out to eat at least twice a week and eat Keto,
finish all my food and feel satiated. I have never weighed myself since starting and went from XL 18/20 to M petite 8/10 and still losing. Friends want to know how I've done it. I tell them but they say "oh, I tried Keto for 3 months and it didn't work for me". They also buy alot of the "Keto" stamped junk food at the store. I suggest they buy fresh meat, veggies, salad and fruit. I do indulge
once in awhile with a piece of birthday cake etc, but when I want to. No one can talk me into eating something I don't want. I never snack and never hungry.
I thank Dr Berry for giving me the info and tools I needed to make this happen. We can do it! 🙏 💪 ♥

Have you ever estimated that you used to eat more calories and now you just eat less junk food because of the diet regulations? When you take away carbs and include intermittent fasting those are tools to lower calories and most people have less without knowing. Also by fruit I am assuming you mean tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. I am just always curious because I have never seen a person lose weight by having more calories than they used to have just by changing macros. Otherwise people could eat 100 chicken wings a day ad long as they were not breaded

If you take carbs out it removes a lot of junk options. That's why the weight comes off in most cases I have seen. 1800 calories of bacon and eggs is more filling then a balanced diet. No person can eat as much of it as they want. 3500 calories is a pound lost or gained for me if I'm in ketosis or eating donuts. I will just feel more full for my calories with the one option

You didn't lose weight because you were eating more calories than you burned. Simple. Fats are actually more harmful (Not that they're bad for you they're just deceiving). 1g of fat has 9 calories where carbs and proteins have 4 calories. Fats also don't have a satiating effect. So you can eat a lot of fats, therefore calories and still feel hungry. Like. a handful of almonds is like 400-500 calories but VERY little volume. It's best to eat high protein since it's satiating and low fat medium carb foods. Why medium carbs? Because high volume low calorie foods have carbs like salads or wraps. Or. if you have a sweet tooth, strawberry smoothies with cashew milk. Only 98 calories per litre. Add some whey protien powder in there and you got yourself a delicious low calories, high protein snack/meal at less than 300 calories. You get a lot of food for very little calories.
To reiterate. If you're not losing fat, you're eating too many calories or not moving enough. It's easier to just eat less than move more since moving more doesn't burn as many calories as you think. Literally does not matter where those calories come from, (I mean if you don't want to feel like shit it does), all that matters is you are in a deficit. If you are in a deficit, your body will start consuming its fat stores

I've never been way over weight but I also wasn't used to gaining weight and not looking good.Tried several different things like intermittent fasting, macro counting, my fitness pal tracking, eating less, more veggies ect. I've worked out my whole life. I know when I'd eat certain foods I didn't feel good, all the usual stories. I'm always full now. I can only eat 1 or 2 meals a day. I've been sleeping better. And it's great to see the scale go down. I weigh every day it helps me know I'm on track and seeing the lbs. come off is a great feeling. I hired a trainer 2 yrs ago and was told stop weighing, use a measuring tape. I do both. For me this works great as the only tracking I need. Plus the way my clothes feel. When I had to switch to another doctor, all I heard was calories, obesity and comorbidity risks, drugs, drugs, drugs. Put on meds for BP, BG, and statins, counted calories, gained fifty pounds, almost lost the will to live. This doctor will actually call other specialists I see to make sure they know I should lose weight so if I see an ortho doc, they wip out the AMA diet. It is like being trapped in a barn. Sounds like you were eating too little food which is a common mistake. Can't eat below or at your BMR without wrecking your metabolism, have to eat enough food to have a healthy and sustainable weight loss on a balanced macronutrient diet. Keto will only "work" for those who stay on it indefinitely as once someone comes off they better know how to deal with calories again. Truthfully keto only works because it's a calorie deficit inherenty because it's so filling for most people. So they get to lose the weight without being mindful of the calories because they don't get close to their maintenance cals. So that's all fine and well but the mechanism is the same.

It's not dumb in the short term but it's dumb as a long term way of keeping a healthy weight as only a micro % of people can keep up that restrictive calorie regimen over even the medium haul, let alone long haul . Counting calories' fatal flaw is the required willpower. Willpower to stay with what becomes a tedious process of counting/tracking & the willpower to overcome what their body & minds wants to allow, intake-wise. "No one can exert cognitive inhibition (willpower) over a bio-chemical drive that goes on every minute of every day, of every year, it's just not possible" Dr Robert Lustig, Pediatric Endocrinologist, University of California, SF. On average, IMO, it's easier in the long term for more folks to overcome desires for sweets than it is for folks to track & restrict caloric intake forever.

Great video and information. My favorite researcher, Zoe Harcombe, has a fantastic explanation debunking the calorie in/calorie out theory along with the theory that one pound of fat contains 3500 calories. She went to all the powers that be and asked them to explain the science of those theories, and no one could do it. "During June and July of 2009 I approached the British Dietetic Association (BDA), Dietitians in Obesity Management (DOM), the National Health Service (NHS), the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), the Department of Health (DoH), the National Obesity Forum (NOF) and the Association for the Study of Obesity (ASO) to ask all of these expert organisations for proof of the 3,500 formula (also known as the calorie theory)." Her response from the BDA was a big shoulder shrug. "I received a prompt and pleasant reply, 'Unfortunately we do not hold information on the topic that you have requested.' It was suggested that I contact a dietitian. I happened to be with several dietitians at an obesity conference later that month, so I asked fellow delegates and no one knew where the 3,500 formula came from. No one knew where the ‘eatwell’ plate proportions came from. One dietitian said to me 'You’ve made us think how much we were just ‘told’ during our training, with no explanation. A group of us over there don’t even know where the five-a-day comes from.' "
If you aren't subscribed to her work I highly recommend doing so.

Lets assume you have an average person about 160 Lbs confined to a hospital bed unconscious with a feeding tube and lets say we give this person 1000 calories a day in the form of proteins, fats and vitamins no carbs. What do you think would happen? Now lets reverse that and you give them 3500 calories a day what do you think would happen? Its not rocket science even children know this, if you eat to much you get fat and if you eat to little you lose weight. Stop trying to beat the system there is no hack the sooner you learn that the better off you will be. Now with that said a diet for health purposes alone I do believe in a high protein low carb diet but you better still watch how much you eat. I personally lost 170 lbs using such a diet but about 30 lbs in I stalled and I couldn't figure out why because I was following the diet perfectly and I watched all of Dr. Berry's videos. Finally common sense kicked in and I lowered my calorie intake and guess what I started losing weight again. If you don't want to count calories which is not hard to do by the way then just weight yourself every week and use the average to gage if you are losing weight or not, if your not then lower your food intake a little until you do start losing weight.

I started strict carnivore diet Feb1st. I've been slightly disappointed that I've only lost 7 lbs but I'm sleeping better, my skin and hair feel better. I'm not overweight just 10-15 extra pounds more than my body is comfortable with carrying around.
I know I need to drink more water and decrease my stress.
I started this hoping it would reduce my pain.
I'm going to keep at it, I'm really hoping for relief.
I'm not giving up, I refuse pharmaceuticals.

If you are not overweight the extra weight will take longer. You’ll be gaining muscle and replacing tissues and many other healthy processes will be taking place inside your body that you probably won’t be able to measure in weight. Just keep at it you’ll have amazing results not only weight wise.

All the excuses, and people buying the excuses, while drawing false correlations.
Counting calories work 100%, if you are not cheating yourself.
And yes, different foods will trigger different hormonal reactions, and eating an unbalanced diet is bad for you. It's also very easy to overeat the super delicious, calorie dense carb foods compared to almost anything else, and carb is not essential for you. But if you eat them in moderation, there's nothing wrong with them.
The people who claim to have lost fat by not counting calories and cutting carbs out lost that weight because they actually consumed less calories. Simple as.

I have a question for you--maybe it's another video you can do.
I suffer from chronic sinus, but it seems to be connected with congestion of fluids. It is worse in the evenings and I awaken several, (3 - 5) times per night , hot flashing and desperate to pee. Also, I awaken often to calf cramps in my right leg--agony. But...I drink lots of water, take lots of salt (for years I skimped on salt until we found you recently) and I take DHEA.
Since we found you we have become more serious about reducing carbs and are finally fully keto.
A recent blood test said my sodium and chloride were low. So I've increased sodium a lot and I'm eating olives everyday because they are low carb yet high in both. Is it potassium that I am lacking and should I be taking potassium supplements?

I followed you for years, and the one thing that I personally couldn't accept was that "calories don't count". Recently, I just tried an eating plan that was based on a 2-day cycle. 1st day - 600/cals, 2nd day - 2400/cals. I did that cycle 5 times, and after 10-days my weight has been EXACTLY the same down to the decimal point, even though mathematically according to the CICO way of thinking I should have lost about 3-5lbs. Currently on day 3 of ignoring calories, and trying to heal my guts until April 1st. Then I want to start weighing myself every 3 days to see how things are going. So far it's been an emotional ride trying to convince myself NOT to analyze the calories, and instead just go with the flow. I tried it my way, and not only did it not work it made me absolutely miserable. So, we'll see how it end up at the end of April because Dr. Berry might have another "Dr. Berry was right" name to his already growing list.

      1. You shouldnt lose 3-5 lbs, because it depends on your current weight, activity etc.

Why does it make you miserable?
