Fact check: the voice actor for Chef didn't actually quit over the Scientology episode. He had a stroke and word never made it back to Matt and Trey. Instead, the Scientology folks stepped in and provided the narrative about him quitting in protest. It wasn't until years later when the family found out about the story about him quitting over Scientology that they reached out to Matt and Trey to clear up the record.
Ok. So South Park makes fun of Jews - it's ok. South Park makes fun of Christianity, many times - it's ok. South Park makes fun of Scientiology - the episode is banned. WTF
+Eowyn Shieldmaiden Don't stop thinking now, and keep on asking, things like , how is this dubious organisation alllowed to hold the status and the privileges of a religious community? What is the cause of the influence they obviously have? Smells mighty fishy doesn't it ? I don't have anything like the whole picture, from what I could put together it is that they systematically collect information about any dark secrets of persons with any amount of power and control, holders of public offices that care very much about their image and these can easily be pressured with the threat of damaging their reputation, a common thing would be some sexual misconduct from cheating on your wife till, sky's the limit there... There you got an easy and effective tool.
I don't get why the episode "one beer, tiny toon adventures" was banned. Why do people find it inappropriate and irresponsible to teach children the lesson of drinking too much alcohol? They literally had a clip in the ending saying "I hope they got the message, drinking is uncool". This is exactly what should be considered appropriate for kids.
Derp 6408 Probably because the age range the cartoon is made for cant comprehend the source material. They see Bugs drink a beer, thats what they want to do. Children dont get the overall picture. Just a guess
Derp 6408 yeah of course. kids loves to read the fine print at the end of a funny show... kind of like when it says don't try this "vine challenge" at home its dangerous
Derp 6408 I think people have forgotten how they were as a kid and then just underestimate them. When I was young there was sex, drugs, brutality and death even in kids shows, now everything harder gets cut out.
I recommend the movie "Felidae". It is a german cartoon from the 90's and it is PG12 in germany. That movie is hard. :) The same with "Watership Down"..
SOOOoooO this would logically explain racism. Racist white people wish they were black. They want what we have but they want to keep their white privilege$ and re$ource$.
My bf is Jewish and maintains that the "I Need a Jew" episode of Family Guy is one of the best. Like, goddamn, it's supposed to be a show that's not politically correct, what do you expect?
@@CousinTheOnly PC not in the slightest... liberal very much yes. Examples are Brian's kevin hart joke and the griffins move into the white house episode. Not to mention Peter cracks constant 4th wall anti pc jokes.
Brandy Davey This comment section might be the result of a lot of incoming SJWs. I haven't met someone of normal intelligence who gets offended so easily about something. If I hear someone making an "offensive" joke irl, all I hear is both parties having a good laugh out of it, not some overly whiny tirade that demonizes the person who made the joke. As long as it isn't harrasment it's fine. On the opposite end of the spectrum there are a few issues of harrasment, but it's not nearly as common as the extremely ignorant backlash against anything that isn't politically correct.
Canadian GrizzlyX7X If you're unable to take criticism/mockery towards your culture that probably wasn't even serious you really need to re-evaluate your life. For example, I am American and retards try getting a rise out of me because of it all the time on youtube.
LibertyLikes Doritos and Mountain Dew I feel like they are more making fun of people like Cartman when they show him making fun of jews than anything else. They are showing how dumb it is to attack people simply because of race.
South Park does not make fun of every religion. Parker and Stone carefully avoid pointing out the fact christianity is a cult every bit as ludicrous as scientology or any other. Sure, they will mock easy targets within the cult -- catholic priests and similar -- but never will they create an episode like the scientology cult one about the christian cult, complete with "lol z0mfg this what they actually believe!!! rotflmao" titles and things. The same with judaism. Yes, they'll toothless,y poke fun at the kind of aspects of the jewish cult as the jews themselves do, but they will never come out and say "judaism is a hilariously ludicrous scam for drooling retards and shysters" any more than they have or will about the hilariously ludicrous christian scam cult. Because network executives and ratings, and because Parker and Stone actually respect the christian cult. Because it's the one in which they were raised and remain immersed, and because it's big and old, not small and new like the scientology cult.
Maybe all religious cultists -- scientologists, christians, jews, whatever -- should face the fact _they_ are the ones who are wrong. Religious cultists choose to believe in hilariously stupid cult crap. Non religious people do not.
+plontulublalulu I saw a Sailor Moon episode where it was flashing red and blue really fast, when a bad guy's minion were defeated, in multiple episodes.
Chibi Prussia the regulations around use of theses flashing screens was changed after this incident it is enterly possible that this happend after sailor moon stopped.
That episode of The Boondocks was hilarious. It wasn't banned for being "homophobic", it was banned because Tyler Perry got butthurt. Neither R. Kelly, the Kardashians, nor Chris Brown had anything to say about the episodes making fun of them. For someone who writes comedic movies, he sure can't take a joke. 🙄
South park isn't targeted towards kids' and it isn't kid-friendly. South Park has always had a MA rating in the United States. For clarification MA is a rating given to television shows for people over 17 years of age. This is a comparable rating to the ratings 16+ (where 18+ does not exist) or 18+ outside of the United States. There is no reason for South Park to be on a list of "kid-friendly" cartoons once yet alone twice as this show does not target kids, does not market to kids, airs on prime time and is geared solely to adults.
The countdown isn't just about kid shows. cartoons. The Boondocks, Simpsons, and Family Guy are also on the list, and those aren't exactly ment for kids either.
Right at the beginning, the voice-over says "they are the questionably kid-friendly animations..." and then "may make you reprogram your TV settings or tell your children to leave the room".
I was watching South Park at the age of 6.. I think the main reason why it's better for adults is not because of the cursing but because of the satirical humor in it.. I used to laugh at the fart jokes and stuff as a kid but didn't fully appreciate the brilliance of South Park until I got older
Im from Brazil, and i have a friend who's phone was robbed from outside a bus when he was on the inside of the bus so the episode was pretty accurate if you take the colored rats part out, they are just regular rats.
imma bro Shame on you my compatriot (não é nada legal reduzir o Brasil a essas coisas em um lugar onde as pessoas não o conhecem tão bem quanto quem vive aqui)
Hi all, we had an annotations in the upper left corner warning people that the scene in question was going to be show and to skip it if they are susceptible to seizures. It seems annotations don't appear when UA-cam videos are viewed on a smartphone/mobile device. Some people in the comments have been mentioning that they did see the warning, is there a chance that you were watching on a smartphone/mobile device? Signed, KG
I grew up in the 90's....We were CONSTANTLY watching "inappropriate" cartoons, shows, played "violent" video games, had "outrageous" toys and games.... None of us grew up to be psycho!!! Your kids will get psycho if you ban everything and get offended even by the mildest "racist" jokes....LET THEM BE YOUR GOD'S SAKE!!!!
Cell Fish We also lived in a time of heavier censorship in the 80s,/90s so that's not a very effective argument. I don't mean to say I disagree with your intention, I just mean that on a technical level your argument isn't very good. Kids today are one click away from things I had almost no way to access decades ago.
maan1728 Much like Family Guy, when a show is so wildly successful a "banned" episode is only banned as long as people are actually care about whatever the content is, years later they always show back up.
Ion this countdown is about controversial cartoon episodes. Animation isn't for children only. There are many adult animation as well(Archer, South Park, Beavis and Butthead, American Dad, The Simpsons, Family Guy ect...)
I'll save y'all some time. Atheists believe everything was created from nothing. Christians believe everything was created by God. (: In the end, we all live on the same planet so let's try to get along.
Exactly. If I were to ask you how the universe began, you (or any atheist) wouldn't have an answer. Christians believe that God (a being not from this universe) created it. That's all I'm saying. It worded it kind of wrong the first time.
The only proper answer such a question is to say "I don't know" and to hold off judgement until further evidence reveals itself. Anything else will be both dishonest and arrogant.
Dude, I'm epileptic, and I'm sitting there watching it going, this might be bad, then suddenly she let's me know I shouldn't watch it...while I was watching it.... Hahaha..
@@zoelindwall637 it's a specific frequency and colour set that causes seizures. It actually had an animation codename in Japan and was a common technique at the time, even though people knew it could sometimes cause issues. As soon as this episode aired and what happened happened they changed the frequency drastically do it was safe. The lighting you're mentioning happened way after so they used the newer effect. TheJWittz did a really good video on it if you're interested in knowing more.
I just love how the voice actor for South Park's Chef sat by while the cartoon made fun of almost every fucking thing people hold sacred but the *second* they focused on his sacred cow he quit.
Towlie TheTowel I just quickly looked it up and I didn't read anything that said that he was forced out coming from the voice actor Isaac Hayes (who's dead now I learned). I almost feel bad now for my comment. It's not like me to shit on dead people, I didn't know that he had passed. I'm not saying that it isn't true I just failed to see the evidence. Granted, I only looked for like 3 minutes =)
***** That kind of sucks that anyone would be a part of a religion that would treat you that way but oh well, that's the nature of Scientology. Either way, his actions after that episode do not sum him up as a person.
In the video they state that "trapped in the closet" was only aired once and then banned from air, but I see that episode a lot on Comedy Central just during the day on weekdays.
@Skeptical Libertarian You're fucking stupid. Its no secret that South Park is the most controversial show on TV. Thats just a known fact. Does not mean he's triggered by it.
I didn't find ANY of these particularly controvserial and I failed to see how half of them could be seen as such. Do people not have better things to do with their lives than to get offended by something they've seen on a TV show and attempt to get it banned so the rest of us can't view it? Particularly with the shows where it was suggested that kids could be badly influenced by the episode, that's just lazy parenting... Freedom that isn't so free after all.
How do you not see anything wrong with these? Especially number 3? Really? I'm glad some people are smart, and brave enough to call out something that seems inappropriate, particularly when it is aimed at kids. Yes, you have freedom, but ignorance still has consequences. If you don't like that, you better leave America.
***** ok 3) we've moved on from those horrible and offensive times. This is still a kids program that people DO have the right to censor on. 2) literally causing 600 kids to experience is a definite no-no. Use common sense on that 1) While South Park has gone totally off-the-rails with this kind of stuff, they've received death threats from Muslim groups and Comedy Central implored Matt & Trey to reconsider. For the safety of their employees, on the actual reveal of the prophet Muhammed a sensor screen with the letter saying that Comedy Central thinks for the safety of the employees and yadda-yadda Understand that 3 & 2 are children programs so there's obvious censorship. But yes there is an art form to these cartoons and I would love to see episode 200 again
so, if the Scientology episode of South Park was "banned from ever airing again on the small screen", then why have I seen it on Comedy Central at least 3 times since 2013?
In case you were wondering how the Mojoholics voted in our poll, see the votes and entries here: watchmojo.com/suggest/Top%2010%20Most%20Controversial%20Cartoon%20episodes%20of%20all%20time Note, of course, that viewer votes are just one of the hundreds of data points and variables that we consider and look at when we create our lists. First off, I'm a little miffed at some of the "cartoons are for kids" remarks in the beginning. If anything, the reasons some of these cartoons are controversial is because people assume they're for kids just because they're animated. Second, I think there should be two more Family Guys on here: "Seashell Seahorse Party" (the episode with the moral "You should stay in an abusive relationship for the happiness of your abuser") and "Life Of Brian."
Karina Feliciano You mean Partial Terms of Endearment? It is controversial but it also asked a very interesting question, what would you do as surrogate mother if the parents for whom the child was meant (as in most cases also his father) die and you don't really have the financial (or emotional) capacity to keep it yourself... Family Guy handled it with their typical lack of tact and I don't think it is the best show for such heavy topics. But does it deserve to be controversial? That depends on what people find offensive about it... The fact that it dares to ask this question, to talk about abortion or because it didn't took the theme really serious and didn't handle it as good as it could have been. I would like to believe it is for the second reason and then I could understand the controversy (But the question would be perfect for a drama/tragedy film) but I'm afraid that most people (not all, most) have a problem with the episode because it spoke about abortion without really demonizing it, because they treat it as a viable option... And if that is the case, I'm sorry but I have to disagree with the controversy. Problems don't disappear by keeping them silent and abortion shouldn't be such a taboo in the first place... Why do I believe that it more likely for the first reason I mentioned? I have read the comment section from "Praise Abort" (a song by Lindemann), and several people complain about the fact that he "praises abortion". If you like Metal, it is worth checking out, if you don't like metal, I would still encourage you to at least read the lyrics yourself for the full context but it is basically this: it is about a broken household with a father in midlife crisis, with six childern (mostly unnplanned pregnancies, and some twins) who doesn't respect him. He is treated like shit by both them and his cheating wife and he sees his childless friends living happy lives. Is it so strange that when someone is desperate and frustration, they start to regret things in life, like having kids. The direct quote is: "I hate my life so very bad. I hate my kids... Never thought... that I would praise abort..." They find it very controversial that he said these things but is it really so controversial to regret having kids (during your mid-life crisis) when they treat you without any respect or love and your marriage is a mess? People are still too sensitive about abortion, and don't want to have any discussion about it, while that this what people should do. Discuss it, instead of ignoring it.
Jaime Brown Family Guy used it for the episode where they temporarily killed off Brian. It is the most emotionally manipulative crap to the point that it feels like it's abusing the audience. "This is sad to you. Feel sad about this. Your favorite character is dead now." And the fact that he was revived a few episodes later just makes it shallow. And speaking of emotionally manipulative and shallow, another FG contender for this list: "Screams In Silence" for beating the moral of "domestic abuse is wrong" into our heads while being 100% inaccurate about the subject (not to mention being the least qualified show to discuss it seriously, with all of the rape and misogyny jokes they regularly do).
So let me see if I get this right if it is Elmer Fudd acting dimwitted and stupid it is fine, but if done as a black person that is offensive? I have seen that old cartoon and, all things being equal, WB changed this character to Elmer Fudd, later toons had Elmer doing the same things (sometimes even more dumb things) and not one complaint.
no...did you see how the black man was drawn ? huge chapped lips ....dark as all get out..then it was the stupidity ....Elmer Fudd has a speech impediment....the black guy was just plain uneducated and ignorant and that was the view of blacks in that era and they were allowed to splatter that all over the television
***** Oh, so youre one of those guys that hates (jewish) propaganda yet blindly follow fbi statistics or anything else that empowers white males (white propganda?)? Your opinion is highly valid XD
Right? I mean if a South Park episode says/does something offensive I don't see the point in people getting pissed off about it, more like get in line, people are offended by every single episode, you aren't the only one.
+Ryansneaks What I don't get is why that's considered "controversial". There's absolutely no question that it causes seizures. That's not controversy, it's just plain hazardous.
This was the original showing here, the flash you see in this clip causes seizures and enough of it if you have epilepsy, This is why they had the annotation to skip this part..
I laugh at people who get offended when they watch South Park. Like what the hell were you expecting. I guess they need a disclaimer at the beginning of the show. "If you are offended by anything at all, do not watch this show."
It's just weird that a generation of kids who grew up on South Park, American Dad, and family Guy are the same people who report "offensive" meme groups on Facebook.
That South Park episode where Tom Cruise was in the closet was not banned or changed at all I litterally just watched it on comedy Central couple nights ago but okay lol
Pause wasn't banned for being homophobic (or else the Tale of Gangstalicious would have been banned too). Pause is hardly aired because Tyler Perry got pissy and threatened to sue.
DravenUrei thats exactly what happened with " The Hunger Strike" and " The Uncle Ruckus Reality Show", BET threatened to sue and they got it banned. Everybody is so pissy nowadays about a damn parody.
I mean, does Tyler Perry not go out and find the hottest ducking black men though, and the only men I know they continuously dress up as women spanning years are drag queens, so.....where was the lie?
We have other lists about cartoons, check ‘em out! Top 10 Family Guy Episodes Top 10 Cartoon Rivalries Top 10 Iconic Cartoon Characters of All Time Top 10 Best Cartoons That Got Cancelled
Mostly, when they show that pokemon episode, they slow it down. This youtube video can be watched by kids, too. You can harm people with epilepsy as well.
So...it's ok for people to make fun of Christianity (By the way, I'm Christian and a huge South Park fan, I just skip all of the religious episodes, except for the scientology one, because that one was just too funny) yet anytime that they stereotype any other religion then it ticks a bunch of people off. Hmmmm...something wrong here? I think so. I'm not trying to repress anybodies freedom of speech (that's a democrats job), I'm just pointing out a flaw in society.
If you're the majority in anything, you basically become immune from all offenses, but if you're a minority in anything, then you become protected. It seems like that's how it is in this country right or wrong.
I see all religions as equal. Christianity, Islam, Scientology, Hinduism...if one is joke at is "offensive" they all should be (From an open-minded atheist)
South Park did almost the same thing to Mormons, almost explicitly saying that the origins and beliefs of Mormonism is preposterous. However one difference is that at the end, they still delivered the message that Mormons are better than everyone else, which is kinda true.
I don't get how some stuff like this gets cancelled now in days, yet a bunch of channels still host all those awful reality shows that exploit kids and teens, with foul language that gets censored like crazy, physical violence, and more. How is that worse than alcohol in a made up cartoon?! Those awful shows are labeled as "reality" shows, which tries fooling viewers to think it's real, where cartoons on the other hand are flat out make believe. I don't get why it's bad for a cartoon to portray negative content, yet it's fine for real life to have negative content!? What happened to common sense in America!?
Show a stereotypical black character being made a fool of, absolutely racist. Show a stereotypical white character being made a fool of, totally ok. God damn I hate this society.
I know why it's the way it is, and I also know it's wrong and bullshit. And lets not pretend the "white man" has never been wronged, everyone's been shit on in this world, why people insist they have so much more entitlement to be offended I don't know.
+Jessica D. Yea. "Tom Cruise is in the closet"........"Tom Cruise is still in the closet.......John Travolta And Tom Cruise are in the closet........." LOL
As a Mormon, I know South Park has taken a few shots at my religion, but given the fact they make fun of everybody, including environmentalists, animal rights activists, senior citizen groups like AARP and celebrities who continually preach liberal causes, I don't get all that offended.
Right? Banned? Its still on hulu (just checked) it still airs on cable, just looked that up as well. What are they going on about? Is watchmojo a bunch of triggered scientologists? Also, a lot of this list is made up, they keep saying these episodes were banned or whatever, but I have seen many, if not most, on cable tv. South park with Mohammed? That aired, I've seen it in tv, and it's still widely available. Where do they get there info?
Reading is fundamental the title of the video clearly says controversial not banned now some of these episodes were either edited or downright banned but banning isn't the theme of the video class dismissed ::swivels around in chair::
ScandinavianGuy Yes, I know, but why do Muslims care so much if *non-Muslims* do it. It would be like Catholics threatening to kill non-Catholics for using birth control. It's just stupid.
+ProfWulfenstein I also love the south park episode. Because Scientologists are completely fucking stupid. For the last one. It was a threat. No negotiation there. They were threatened.
I'm rather surprised that no modern SpongeBob episodes were considered, since there's animal abuse (twice), pushing someone to suicide. Heck, SpongeBob, You're Fired was criticised because it was trying to tell kids it was great to be unemployed. Oh yeah, and there are numerous Family Guy candidates other than the one mentioned here (Fresh Heir, for instance)
While I can't speak for Family Guy because I don't watch it as much, In terms of SpongeBob, Not all of the modern episodes are bad. In "The Card", at least hearing Patrick admitting how unpredictable his stupidity makes sense, and he only messed up ONE of the Five copies of the one card SpongeBob was looking for. And in "House Fancy", helping Squidward win Most Fanciest House of the Year makes up for having his toenail ripped of (Which I found funny "Because you kept saying 'OW!"). And let's not forget "Enchanted Tiki Dreams".
Donovan Boykins The line from The Card was a handwave for Patrick to torment SpongeBob by destroying something that he knew that SpongeBob valued, which makes no sense as Patrick is also a fan of Mermaidman and Barnacle Boy. And the fact that Patrick knew that he had all four of the other cards in his possession while he was torturing SpongeBob said *everything* about how much of a dick he's become. As for House Fancy? The toenail scene was pointless and disturbing. It added nothing to the episode other than to torture Squidward for being angry that SpongeBob was spying on him. Yeah, he won in the end, but that doesn't make the episode any good or any more infamous. Proper good episodes are ones like Plankton's Pet, Sand Castles in the Sand, Dunces and Dragons, Friend or Foe and Treats.
Jack Lee no one's actually done it, but Plankton was pretty much pushed to it in One Coarse Meal and Squidward was so depressed that the writers used suicide as a joke (twice) in Are You Happy Now
I'm from Brazil and the Simpsons episode don't offend me. In fact, some of the parody is really on point, specially the lady using her boobies to attract viewers on television. And the funny part is that the corrupt Brazillian Goverment has no right to point fingers to "bad propaganda", since they're our biggest shame towards the rest of the world.
About that "rabbit stew" episode. I just don't get why it's always ok to make fun of a caucasian (white) person, but never ok to make fun of a person of any other race. It's as if racism is perfectly ok and always acceptabel in any amount, as long as someone is being racist agains a white person, but if the table is turned, and you're being racist towards someone of a different race than caucasian, then it's a horrible crime.
Baka Fawkes The character on the cartoon is a heavily exagerated charicature. And large lips, slightly brighter than the rest of their skin, is an anthropological trait of many african people. That's an undeniable fact. It's biology, evolution and herritance (like I said, anthropology). So, in a cartoon such as that, where heavily exagerated charicatures are common, this really isn't beyond what I find perfectly reasonable. If they make a comedy movie showing white men who can't run or jump, I don't find that offensive, because I know it's just a stereotype exagerated for comical relief. In the cartoon herein question, it's a matter of antrophological fact, exagerated for comical relief.
james witwiki So this entire racist joke is based on a pigment disorder that all races get? I've seen more white people with this than black people. A girl in my fifth grade class got picked on so hard for this, she was white with albino-looking eyebrows and cheeks.
Baka Fawkes Dude. I just explained to you, (in excruciating detail, I might ad) that this characters look was exagerated for comic relief. Most african people have larger lips than caucasian people, and although they're not usually pale white, they tend to be lighter than the rest of their skin. This is an anthropological fact. Again, for the millionth time I say, they exagerated this for comic relief. It's not racist.
Sensitivity and the offence-taking that with it is down to a person's ego. They think that because something hurts their feelings, the world should bend to their will. It's a juvenile mindset that far too many people have, and take it to their grave.
i still want to hear the cut dialogue from the muhammed episode (the funniest thing about that controversy is that nobody cared when muhammed was in the super best friends episode a few seasons earlier.. didnt even censor his image)
According to Wikipedia, this is the dialogue that was censored: Kyle: That's because there is no goo, Mr. Cruise. You see, I learned something today. Throughout this whole ordeal, we've all wanted to show things that we weren't allowed to show, but it wasn't because of some magic goo. It was because of the magical power of threatening people with violence. That's obviously the only true power. If there's anything we've all learned, it's that terrorizing people works. Jesus: That's right. Don't you see, gingers, if you don't want to be made fun of anymore, all you need are guns and bombs to get people to stop. Santa: That's right, friends. All you need to do is instill fear and be willing to hurt people and you can get whatever you want. The only true power is violence.
ThatSkynyrdKid 70 oh cool! ive been looking for that clip for ages, couldn't download it anywhere, ur comment got marked as spam , can still read it tho
If there's a scene in a show that caused kids to have seizures to the point of being hospitalized, it's probably not a good idea to show that scene without a warning or by reducing the effect.
Hi! We had an annotation in the upper left corner warning people that the scene in question was going to be shown and to skip it if they are susceptible to seizures. It seems annotations don't appear when UA-cam videos are viewed on a smartphone/mobile device. Some people in the comments have been mentioning that they did see the warning, is there a chance that you were watching on a smartphone/mobile device? This is for our own informational purposes, so we can isolate where the problem with the annotation came from. Signed, KG
WatchMojo.com Oh ok, fair enough, I always turn off annotations whenever I watch any video; I just prefer to have as few UI elements as possible. My bad.
Malker B The video that goes around of that episode is a very toned down version of what actually occured. The real video is much worse than that and (For good reason) is difficult to find.
they r cartoons just some r for kids and some r adult but there r those parents out there that let their kids watch this stuff when they r kids but some of those parents that do that r smart enough to place normal values into there childrens heads before they let there kids watch that stuff like mine for example i turned out a perfectly normal person granted with a slightly warped since of humor but still normal and happy with my life and like i said i have watched south park since i was a child
Strange how I was living in Brazil for 5 years and I have watched that Simpsons episode so many times on the brazilian Fox channel like it was normal, because really, Rio is described perfectly in it.
A. Schutte Ah, that's a shameful argument because: 1. We're not talking about Sao Paulo 2. It's not doing any justice at all, it's just showing things that actually happen all the time in Brazil and 3. I'm brazilian, not american. So stop blaming americans for everything.
the electric soldier prygon had less of an effect than people claim. if you look more into it you'll find that there were indeed 100s of complaints from parents who's kids had headaches but only about a dozen of those kids even ended up having to go to the hospital.. I must admit I don't remember the details all that well as it's been a while since I researched it but it's not as big a deal as people think it is.
Well here's a sick fact as well. the episode actually encouraged the American Military to develop a seizure gun as well. Any anti military individuals were appalled by this as well.
Ok so South Park makes fun of Scientology in one episode and everyone freaks the fuck out when almost every other episode makes fun of Christianity and no one says a thing
It's because of how the Scientologists reacted. They tried to dig up dirt on Matt and Trey to "expose" them, but since they're so transparent with their lives, all they found was an unpaid parking ticket from Matt. It was a shame that the voice actor for Chef was forced to quit, as they threatened to ostracize him from the church and his family and friends.
If every other religion is not safe from south park why should scientology.
japanuke Because scientology is incredibly rich and influental.

It's not banned either. It aired like a week ago.
Derp 6408 i honestly saw no issue with it myself.
I recommend the movie "Felidae". It is a german cartoon from the 90's and it is PG12 in germany. That movie is hard. :) The same with "Watership Down"..

I'm a Jew and I find it hilarious! I think the make fun of Jews more than any over religion.
LibertyLikes They do leave all stones left unturned. But they do insult more things than others.
LibertyLikes Doritos and Mountain Dew I feel like they are more making fun of people like Cartman when they show him making fun of jews than anything else. They are showing how dumb it is to attack people simply because of race.
Jesse Norwalt Yup
south park makes fun of EVERY religion! but of scientology got triggered and tried sue and shit smh.
They already knew it from the beginning and let Stan scream that he has no problem with being sued. :D

You do realize that the title wasn't Top 10 Inappropriate Episodes in Kids Cartoons, right?

Atheism has no doctrine. It simply describes the absence of faith in a god (or strictly speaking a theistic/personal god).

***** No, that was the one where Brian dies.
What about that episode of Family Guy? The one about abortion, pretty dark
Isn't Life of Brian a live action Monty Python blasphemous movie? Or is it another Family Guy episode?

You do know you have just shown us an unaltered clip from pokemon that caused seizures, do you
Mostly, when they show that pokemon episode, they slow it down. This youtube video can be watched by kids, too. You can harm people with epilepsy as well.
If the colors can cause seizures then why did you show it?!
Well at least I now know that scene won't affect me...Oh and one more thing, *FIX THAT CLIP YA NUMBNUTS!!!*
some of the shows are for adults not kids
If a grown adult gets offended by tv shows, they are fucking pussies.
Literally every episode on this list should be from South Park.
It’s time now for “Which Episodes Offended WatchMojo”
There not offended, just reposting those who are
lmao right
So...it's ok for people to make fun of Christianity (By the way, I'm Christian and a huge South Park fan, I just skip all of the religious episodes, except for the scientology one, because that one was just too funny) yet anytime that they stereotype any other religion then it ticks a bunch of people off. Hmmmm...something wrong here? I think so. I'm not trying to repress anybodies freedom of speech (that's a democrats job), I'm just pointing out a flaw in society.
Couldn't agree more. What I find funny is they said that episode was banned from TV, which is only half true the episode still runs up here in Canada.
I do the same thing with South Park
If you're the majority in anything, you basically become immune from all offenses, but if you're a minority in anything, then you become protected. It seems like that's how it is in this country right or wrong.
I see all religions as equal. Christianity, Islam, Scientology, Hinduism...if one is joke at is "offensive" they all should be (From an open-minded atheist)
South Park did almost the same thing to Mormons, almost explicitly saying that the origins and beliefs of Mormonism is preposterous. However one difference is that at the end, they still delivered the message that Mormons are better than everyone else, which is kinda true.
More people need to just change the channel when they're offended, rather than demand it be removed from existence.
Omg I'm like soooooo offended. You should see my tumblr post about how offended I am. I literally can't even.
Show a stereotypical black character being made a fool of, absolutely racist. Show a stereotypical white character being made a fool of, totally ok. God damn I hate this society.
Hypocrisy at its best
Doesn't matter it's still racist but Society turns a blind eye to it.
I know why it's the way it is, and I also know it's wrong and bullshit. And lets not pretend the "white man" has never been wronged, everyone's been shit on in this world, why people insist they have so much more entitlement to be offended I don't know.
What exactly would a stereotypical white character look like? I doubt it'd be anything offensive.
Disney channel nothing but stereotypes never get censored
The “Teleboobies” parody on the Simpsons was based on the Brazilian children’s show Xuxa (SHOO sha) hosted by the ex Playboy model of the same name
Sure you don't want seizures so you play the actual footage, just for the record I didn't have a seizure
The South park Scientology was the best one! So funny

As a Mormon, I know South Park has taken a few shots at my religion, but given the fact they make fun of everybody, including environmentalists, animal rights activists, senior citizen groups like AARP and celebrities who continually preach liberal causes, I don't get all that offended.
Hey, they did say that Mormonism is the one true religion!
I bet you live in Utah
Anyone else get a pain around their forehead after the Pokemon scene?
i've seen the scientology episode of south park numerous times though
umce vidyas They played it in syndication but haven’t played it in Comedy Central until a few years ago...even now they barely play that episode.
"Kids had to be hospitalised after watching this," proceeds to show the scene in question without any warning.
Well done WatchMojo.
Did they only add in the annotation just recently? Just watched it and it had a warning.
it was slowed down
It still hurt my eyes.
political correctness ruins everything
Amen to that, Kyle! I'd say PC losers everywhere need to go fuck themselves, and get a fucking sense of humor!
South Park has hit the nail on the head many times with their satire
i mean it is possible to be funny without being racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic etc
No, not really.
Says the fat blind piece of shit...
Trapped in the closet wasn't banned I just watched it on TV and its been aired many times
Well everything exists on the internet so, it could never be banned 100%.
Right?
It still airs on TV lol
It’s literally recorded on my dvr lmao

Seriously, why is the whole "depiction of Mohammed" thing so offensive? Muslims need to chill.
In Islam religion it's forbidden to make pictures of God and prophets.
ScandinavianGuy Yes, I know, but why do Muslims care so much if *non-Muslims* do it. It would be like Catholics threatening to kill non-Catholics for using birth control. It's just stupid.
That's true. I'm still in school so yeah
splewy well christians are the same about stuff like same sex marriage and abortion
Salvador Mendez
I don't think they threaten to kill people over it though, at least not in the last century.
I like how they show us the scene that gave people seizures
Lol
They slow down it originally is faster

When did someone commit suicide in spongbob?
Jack Lee no one's actually done it, but Plankton was pretty much pushed to it in One Coarse Meal and Squidward was so depressed that the writers used suicide as a joke (twice) in Are You Happy Now
Chris Tomson oh ok
I'm from Brazil and the Simpsons episode don't offend me. In fact, some of the parody is really on point, specially the lady using her boobies to attract viewers on television.
And the funny part is that the corrupt Brazillian Goverment has no right to point fingers to "bad propaganda", since they're our biggest shame towards the rest of the world.
The Trapped in the Closet episode still airs on Comedy Central.
that south park scientology episode is still on tv. I watched it a couple months ago.
Yeah! What bullshit! I've seen it so many times on TV!
+Greg Shogren exactly
Yeah they did ban it, but after awhile nobody really cared about it and it was back on the air.
Because Elmer Fudd is an actual portrayal of some of the people I've lived around. I've never seen a black person with huge white lips in my life.
Baka Fawkes krizz kaliko , look em up
james witwiki So this entire racist joke is based on a pigment disorder that all races get? I've seen more white people with this than black people. A girl in my fifth grade class got picked on so hard for this, she was white with albino-looking eyebrows and cheeks.
Baka Fawkes Dude. I just explained to you, (in excruciating detail, I might ad) that this characters look was exagerated for comic relief. Most african people have larger lips than caucasian people, and although they're not usually pale white, they tend to be lighter than the rest of their skin. This is an anthropological fact. Again, for the millionth time I say, they exagerated this for comic relief. It's not racist.
Why are people so fucking senseitive all the time?
Katja Müller Yes. Best Pudding
People have feelings df, not everyone wants to be represented a certain way
Sensitivity and the offence-taking that with it is down to a person's ego. They think that because something hurts their feelings, the world should bend to their will.
It's a juvenile mindset that far too many people have, and take it to their grave.
*that comes with it

Parents were mad at a show called adult party cartoon? That should have said it's for adults.
Well yeah, I agree, but the episode was originally meant for the kids show and then banned.
yEaH
That's why they have Adult Swim now.
The Scientologist episode has been shown many times in the last couple years.
Yeah I saw it
i still want to hear the cut dialogue from the muhammed episode (the funniest thing about that controversy is that nobody cared when muhammed was in the super best friends episode a few seasons earlier.. didnt even censor his image)
That aired before 9/11 and before muslims got to dictate what we can and can't say and do through terror.
Muslims aren't a race genius.
According to Wikipedia, this is the dialogue that was censored:
Kyle: That's because there is no goo, Mr.
The link I put earlier was to the cut dialouge. It was leaked a while ago and I put the link to that full scene.

Porygon was basically banned from the anime, but it was really pikachu. #BRINGBACKPORYGON
Do you mean "polygon?"
If there's a scene in a show that caused kids to have seizures to the point of being hospitalized, it's probably not a good idea to show that scene without a warning or by reducing the effect.
if the kids had a seizure from that, then watching Other Voices (Part 1) from Beast Wars would probably kill them.
Signed,
KG
WatchMojo.com Oh ok, fair enough, I always turn off annotations whenever I watch any video; I just prefer to have as few UI elements as possible. My bad.
Malker B I do have annotations on and I did not see the warning, luckily enough I knew of the episode so I knew what to expect.
Malker B The video that goes around of that episode is a very toned down version of what actually occured. The real video is much worse than that and (For good reason) is difficult to find.
I liked how the subtitles even said *ZOOMS OUT*.
Any child who watches South Park, Family Guy and most of the "cartoons" here will grow up deranged and sad.
bull i have watched south park since i was a child and im actually pretty happy dispite my youtube name
they r cartoons just some r for kids and some r adult but there r those parents out there that let their kids watch this stuff when they r kids but some of those parents that do that r smart enough to place normal values into there childrens heads before they let there kids watch that stuff like mine for example i turned out a perfectly normal person granted with a slightly warped since of humor but still normal and happy with my life and like i said i have watched south park since i was a child
The quotation marks weren't really needed seeing as these are actually cartoons still.
If you actually think that you are deranged and sad
While I don't agree with you, I will say that kids shouldn't be allowed to watch those kind of shows until their at least like 12
Strange how I was living in Brazil for 5 years and I have watched that Simpsons episode so many times on the brazilian Fox channel like it was normal, because really, Rio is described perfectly in it.
hence the offense....truth hurts sometimes
STFU, it's not like that.
Arkanjo Teixeira Oh, I'm sorry angry brazilian. Are the favelas beautiful, peaceful places?
Really strange. How can crime in Brazil be either of these two:
1. news
2. offensive
A. Schutte Ah, that's a shameful argument because: 1. We're not talking about Sao Paulo 2. It's not doing any justice at all, it's just showing things that actually happen all the time in Brazil and 3. I'm brazilian, not american. So stop blaming americans for everything.
GJ watch mojo posting the exact clip that gave 600 kids seizures, and showing it to your viewers.
Yikes I had to look away at the Pokemon one.
My eyes hurt.
No way did that trapped in the closet episode get one showing. I've seen that quite a few times on TV.
I thought the same thing. I've seen at least 3 separate times on TV
It was on a couple weeks ago
the electric soldier prygon had less of an effect than people claim. if you look more into it you'll find that there were indeed 100s of complaints from parents who's kids had headaches but only about a dozen of those kids even ended up having to go to the hospital.. I must admit I don't remember the details all that well as it's been a while since I researched it but it's not as big a deal as people think it is.
Yeah, if I remember right there were 100s of headaches but only 12 had to go to the hospital.
Well here's a sick fact as well. the episode actually encouraged the American Military to develop a seizure gun as well. Any anti military individuals were appalled by this as well.
Thomas Smith holy shit I didn't know that o.0

Ok so South Park makes fun of Scientology in one episode and everyone freaks the fuck out when almost every other episode makes fun of Christianity and no one says a thing
+AlduinTheDrag0n254 because Christianity is such a popular religion, nobody really cares if they do, hell, im Christian
It's because some Christians are actually pretty tolerant. Scientologists, on the other hand, are not.
yes i agree i`m kinda glad that we don`t storm south park studios... it is also pretty funny how the creators of the show are Mormans lol
And Jews. Don't forget Jews.
Um I’ve seen the South Park Scientology’s episode more than once.
