99% of the coachess miss this part and focus on more complex things. If the basic is not right people won't be able to execute advanced techniques. This contact on the ball and the follow through of the racket is so important. Thanks for clearly helping us understand this
Hi coach Daniel, I am from Turkey and found you after many search on internet. I almost watched all of your videos and completed them all. I wonder why you stop publishing new videos? They were very useful and i couldn't find as useful content as yours so you please continue creating new content. Thank you very much..
Thank you and I am so sorry. I am preparing more videos in programs where you can follow through or start somewhere and develop your techniques and improve your game. I will shortly resume uploading.
@@roadtopro3038 I was watching your videos again and wondered the same thing!! Hopefully you start posting again soon, we miss your videos 🥲 Maybe also when you come back you could active the option for people to become a member of the channel, would be cool for people to support you
Thanks for the great tip, I applied in my practice today and I could see myself easily returning side spin serve and doing the counter. How to generate more speed and spin.close to the table..
But from what I see, Lin ist using energy from the forearm rotation from the elbow, as initial force, then the energy comes to the wrist..He also uses energy from his legs and core.. He seems to be controlling and changing the force by varying the length of his forearm involved in the backswing, e.g. how much the forearm goes back in the backswing.. I can't see that he is using only the wirst near the table..his arm is not straightened.. His elbow ist forward and slightly to the right.. The follow through is like what you said.. But the force and swing seems to start from the elbow/forearm rotation and body strength.. I think by positioning the elbow a bit to the right it's possible to keep the wirst force right behind the ball Could you Daniel oder someone else take a look and comment? Thanks
Thanks Daniel. I understand the follow through and the extended arm + small backswing at the table. But how to combine this in other types of backhand topspin like mid distance where you hit the ball at the peak and also for looping against underspin? I thought more forearm arm backswing is needed for these shots with more body movement to produce more power.. The question is: how does the explained shot (extended arm, mostly wirst, almost no forearm backswing) change when you go away from table or when looping backspin? Thanks a lot
As you mentioned, you will start to engage forearm and body(core) more when you need more power and when you have time to do so. Quick on the table topspin fight doesn’t allow since it’s fast and early.
@@roadtopro3038 thanks for the reply. But in another video (the 3 positions of playing the backhand) I remember you said playing the ball at highest point (which I think means mid distance) ist mostly used in matches.. You said the also same in the BH FH transition video where you said wen need to have a good distance from the table which was roughly mid distance.. Does that mean we can play this technique also from mid ??.. Sure I need to experiment with it today evening first bevor I can tell
I watched this again and again. What you mean ist that this small swing of the wirst/shoulder (more from the shoulder joint?) should be a part of all topspin backhand shots, right? On the table it would be only the short version from the wirst/shoulder rotation and in the other topspin BH shots you just add more of body, forearm etc while always paying attention to this small follow through at the end of each shot at ball contact point.. Correct?? What do you mean by "starting angle > closing angle".. Many thanks Daniel
That’s very observation . So when I am blocking, i am not trying to give spin and hit it as open as it can be with minimum topspin so that the returning ball is most favorable for the other person to loop. The bottom can’t open if you are spinning the ball.
i finally understood the idea. thamks daniel

@@lucaslupus1 i am actually thinking about that! Thank you Lucas.
I miss your videos man
great idea on using wrist with extended arm, thank you!!!
Good lesson. Something I am actively working on. Compact brushing motion but not a block. Thanks.
Simple magic . Thank you!!!!

Thank you. Very useful 👌
Interesting. I always thought that only or mostly using the wrist in the backhand isn't good.. I thought enough backswing of the forearm ist required

Странно, на демонстрации в конце видео как раз пример движения, когда угол в начале меньше, а в конце немного больше, ракетка открывается.
Interesting, so the same principle of open to closed brush is being applied here to the backhand.
You got it
do the same with forehand semi mid brush
Coach at 0:30 you told him not rotate the bottom of the paddle upwards but then when blocking for him, you do exactly that 🤷
