Green tip isn't considered armor piercing for legal purposes, it has a mild steel core and is accessible to civilians. Any rifle rated armor worthy of consideration should be capable of handling m855, m193 and 7.62x39 FMJ (threshold), along with m855a1 (objective) for sub level 4 applications. Any armor that cannot defeat the gamut of likely encountered 5.56 is muddying the waters, frankly, and the confusion will get someone killed if they don't read the fine print. Thanks for the video, can you check out RMA's ESRT lineup for Sub Level 4 covert applications? They will apparently defeat up to m855a1 at 0.5" thick and around 5lbs.
Appreciate the comment! I agree it can all get convoluted with all the variables, & hope everyone understood that there is always (for now) the compromise between weight/protection. We can reach out to RMA and if they’ll send us something we’ll definitely give them a “shot”! 😉

About ESAPI plates. As to why the military went from the SAPI to the enhanced plate for stopping .06AP. To my knowledge and experience the ESAPI's were issued around 2008 to us about to deploy to Afghanistan. According to the HUMINT reports troops there had been finding 1903's and 1917's in .06. So the was a chance the taliban snipers had access to the .06AP rounds. Un 2010 I was taking a class and some guys from 2/75 were there. We had to do a "FTX" for WLC and well combat arms guys being combat arms guys we checked out each other's gear.
