That thinness is worth more than people who havent worn a vest may realize. Comfort means program compliance!
So does size, but who claimed 304s never stuck it out for the money.
Define program compliance. I think I know but define it for me!!
@@themagnificent9296 if it's uncomfortable or gets in the way, you are more than likely to leave it home. Program compliance is a fancy way of stating how often you use or carry. Of course you can't wear a vest in the shower, so 99% is acceptable high end. If you carry 50%, why carry at all.
@@PBVader So if I'm not spending 99% of my time having sex with a women, then why should I have sex at all.... great logic.
I believe u. I'm considering buying this. I'm over my heavy uncomfortable vest. I dont even care that it cost a stack. Being comfortable is everything
The smile after shooting a bullet proof vest… you can tell this man loves his job.
Gay
"All armor dies." love you Mike. Thank you for what you do.
I've had my Hyperline vest for a few weeks. It is very concealable and it fits well. Could easily conceal it under a flannel shirt
Same, that concealability is a very underrated aspect in videos like this. When all that BLM stuff was going down I wore concealed armor for a while. But to conceal well it was 2A, not great. Now I'd be able to wear this instead, much better.
Comfortable for all day ware?
@@379Pete I have not yet worn it "all" day. I have a long term stalker that the police are waiting for me to I guess win the encounter? in any case, I only wear it when I go out. It fits very well.
@@snek9353
Safe Life is abusing the promotion they get from these videos. I can't support a company that values money over defending the people. That is why I will support PSA for their $350 freedom kits in a market where the M&P 15 went from $500 to $800 due to a fake shortage.
@@joebenson528 Like how Smith & Wesson did in 2000? I'm not aware of Safe Life doing anything objectionable.
Even if it stops large calibers like 44mag or that 460, that doesn't mean you'll live. I remember a report on a State Trooper who took a 44 to the chest, and the vest stopped it....but it still shattered his ribcage and stopped his heart. He had what looked like a dinnerplate sized blister/red mark under the vest.
Still, impressive armor
Exactly. Blunt force is still an issue.
The BFD did well in testing.
Yeah the Oregon Ballistic labs failed it for this reason.
@@kalrodwick uhm, look on their site there's a report from Oregon Ballistic Labs
@@snek9353 yeah I know I keep the report on my desk at work. 2mm of play is a fail, even if it's technically a "pass" anything over 25mm of blackface deformation is considered lethal and this had 42mm (NIJ passes anything 44 and under)
I'm still waiting on the Hyperline panels to come in. Got the carrier with a bundle I purchased months ago. But, the Hyperline panels still back ordered. Like a Christmas toy, but the batteries weren't included. Great video, had to hit that subscribe button. Thanks.
You sure they aren't in there?
@@matthouston8411 Yeah, I'm sure, looked over several times.
@@cynicalaries6201 hmmm, seems weird they would send you the carrier without the panels. you should definitely call them and make sure you get what you paid for.
The one I have been waiting for.
Now that was impressive!!! would love to get that vest! I have wore some level 3 vests in my previous employment jobs and man talk about uncomfortable!! This seems would fix that!!!!
Great stuff. The price reflects how few quality conscionable vests one can find (supply/demand). Hopefully more brands come out with something similar.
I love those federal fusions absolutely affordable power houses of a cartridge
Thanks for the video. I have one ordered.
Great review. Im an EMT looking to start working 911 in a fairly large city. This armor checks all the boxes for me.
It would be interesting to see how it does against 5.7x28 as it was designed to defeat soft armor like this.
The backforce deformation issue is a roll of the dice. Common handgun calibers shouldn’t be an problem with the exception of 44 Mag and up. 357’s and down shouldn’t push in too deep but might still break ribs.
It looks really comfortable, until you get shot.
5.7 would defeat this armor but not the 3A+
That is crazy how well it works being so thin ... thank you for showing us this.
But it doesn't work! Back face deformation is literally on the edge (2mm) of failing the NIJ test. Which is still well within lethality range
Maybe so but it's better than most options out there that are this thin and flexible
@@danielmacdonald8358 you're still dead using it, the EU standard is 25MM max and NIJ is 44. So it's literally considered lethal.
@@kalrodwickso I take it you'd rather take a bullet without it
@@danielmacdonald8358 you'd actually have a higher chance of living yes. Or you could (and this is a super nuanced idea) you could wear body armour that actually works! Like the plates I use for work.
Awesome!!!
Great ad placement!! The actual product you’re reviewing right in the middle of the video gets advertised!! Sweet but the price ouch 2k. I guess if your life depends on it. The link you provide those give an incredible discount if it includes everything the 2k version offers.
@Commie Hammer From the website of the same company that he is reviewing. Like I wrote there seems to be a huge discount or I’m looking at a different product from them. These armor levels start looking similar. I just followed the link from the ad. The Hyperline™ + FRAS® Bundle 1,999
Please keep the information coming
The vest AND the price are both real stoppers.
got'em
Guess you haven’t seen other armor prices. Point blank elite version is 2k
@@taylor3880 The Hyperline with Fras plates is about the same. I'm sure R&D is expensive and sales volume is small...but that's still expensive.
@@taylor3880 You can get level 4 plates for just over $100 each, and get a simple carrier for $30 to $60.... Granted, it's not this light weight/ soft armor. But my point is just to say: There are much cheaper sets of body armor out there... (LAPG and battle steel- both have level 4 ceramic composite plates)
@@calholli I have plates and I bought the fras hyperline bundle. It was 2k... but I feel it's worth it. I paid like $400 I think for my plates with carrier. It is just heavy, bulky, and very very obvious. I wear it for my protection against certain people... the public looks at me like a mass shooter lol.
Id like to see this with a clay block on the back. Im tempted to buy but backface deformation with it being thin is what is stopping me
It looks like a terrific product and I would buy in a heartbeat except I'm afraid that the back deformation might just be enough to kill me anyway.
IIa will stop a 9mm the same as IIIa, but with more bfd. It may only be a broke rib vs a 4inch bruise, but there _will_ be a difference. N FL War Room, the number you are looking for is in the Tech Specs towards the beginning of the video. 38mm bfd with the 44mag. I believe that 44mm is a fail under NIJ testing. And I totally agree. Would love to see a better backstop used in these videos. Panel leaning on a cardboard box still allows the fibers or poly a couple extra inches of travel to slow and disperse the energy. I bet the .460 would have blown thru if it were taped to a block of clay.
@@jackburton7959 iirc 34mm with 44mag. Buffman range does good armor videos with clay, don't think he's done hyperline though. Free field training did tests with wood as a backstop, it did very well.
BTW I have the hyperline and would recommend.
@@SctyGrpPowers not according to the NIJ
@@jackburton7959 Have pointed that out to him several times and have suggested using sandbags instead . Apparently he does not read the comments or is just going to do what he wants . But totally agree with you and does not give an accurate testing of the product .
$1k.... or 7 tanks of gas.
Crazy how sad this is.
Great video. Thank you.
It's really hard on deciding what to put in my kids backpacks. Has to be light and stop many threats. I guess with books it would help, but they are not carrying many books at this point
I got one the 3A+ and the other got Hyperline... IDK what that difference says about which kid is my favorite.
Half inch lexan square would probably stop most small arms fire, if a cheap shield is all you're looking for.
I dig the Safelite defense stuff! Good looking kit
2:30 Hyperline + FRAS is not level IV, it's III+, it'll stop 7.62x54R, M855A1, and probably actual 30-06AP but not the NIJ 30-06AP spec.
Where did you get this info? That's kinda the idea I had to do for lightweight flexible lv4.
@@ShizawnSanders I did find more info and updated, see above.
I also own this setup, sooo it's my choice.
I want to know how does the spartan armor systems ghost concealment shirt with their 3A armor panels compares to this.
Great video as always!!!!
I want this just to wear concealed during range days in case of accident or such. I think it will do fine for that.
Can you see how a 5.7x28 round does against that armor
This would be good to see.
105 degrees out! Are you filing this from Hell today?
It’s like 55 and raining out here today in NE PA.
I think that .460 would've had the same effect on your organs as it did on your dirt box backstop.
very likely. I guess the armor would help contain the internals that were turned into burger.
Still better than anything else of similar size and weight.
@@snek9353 Dead is dead.
@@peterk8909 So where nothing then, is that your plan?
@@snek9353 No where did I say or even imply that.
Honestly this is great technology advancement for body armor but I kid you not when you shot it with that 460 magnum (I've never even heard of such a thing 😲) it really highlight the fact that certain rounds you don't wanna live beyond impact and that's one of them!! Lmfaooo
I wouldn't mind wearing this at all if I worked as a clerk at a liquor store or something. unfortunately nowadays a lot of criminals are carrying AR/AK pistols which will zip right through that. I like my lvl 4 plates but they don't conceal like this will.
Safelife makes plate inserts that you can add to a carrier that already has soft armor in it that bring you up to rifle rated armor, both FRAS and normal hard plates.
Like most modern "concealable" armor, it appears to be umhpwe. Which is great, but it doesn't flex very well for all day use. Old-School kevlar may be thicker but it moves like a thick blanket and I can actually sit down in a car, or bend down and touch my toes. versus this new age stuff that wears like a piece of plastic.
Well done as always.
just bought the 3a+ panels. Thank god I don't need concealability cause this armor is far to expensive. Impressive nonetheless
Love the Florida Man hat 😁
That is an incredible vest
I wanted to see Liberty Civil Defense 9mm and .45, same for Fort Scott, and also lesser power 5.7x28 loads.
Check out top shot Dustin, he does shoot it with the fort Scott ammo , I think? And it stops it and deformed the bullet.
Hey, what should we do with our armor this week? How bout let’s ruin it? Yep, send it to Mrgunsngear!
Great video!
I’ll pass…Looks great, but at 2/10 of an inch thick, how well will it protect the wearer from blunt force trauma (BFT)? Since no mention of that in the video, I see that being problematic… along w the more less obviousness, lol
Now this would be outstanding if it could provide a reasonable amount of protection against BFT without needing to add FRAS or some other armor panels.
No worries, you'll just get a few broken ribs and maybe some internal bleeding, at least the bullets didn't go thru... lol
If it's NIJ rated, it has to pass the same backface deformation standard as normal thickness armor.
The .460 may well have produced serious to possibly lethal BFT, but IIIA is simply not rated for that. Then again, you're also more likely to win a mega millions lottery than to get shot by one of those unless you go out of your way to provoke a confrontation with someone you know has one. It's not anybody's carry gun including criminals.
Any chance of using 5.7x28mm on soft armor in the future? I know the good stuff, SS190, is restricted to LE/Mil but I heard that SS197 coming out of the 16" barrel on the PS90 can penetrate IIIA armor.
Safe Life is probably having that done. They've done special threat testing with all their other soft armors.
Had this one but returned. It’s barely flexible and feels like plastic that won’t bend. Went with bulletproof everyone t shirt 3a. Never looked back, night and day difference and same .019 thickness
just saw this video wished there was some clay behind it to see how bad the damage would be to your chest
that is super expensive because its the best......but i wonder what is the real cost to make that?
That is crazy cool,, not like the old days to be sure !
I'll settle for my Bulletsafe VP3 which is a little thicker and heavier but also NIJ certified which SafeLife is not. Plus compare the VP3 at $299. You can't.
You still going to feel it and will cause internal damage... But hey, long as it doesn't go in side you right 👍🏽. I rather have something that can stop a bullet and the power behind it, that's just me.
I bought one of these recently and can't wait to get it. Price as of 4/2/2023 is just under $500 for 3a
are you talking about the 3a hyper concealable? its over 1k on the site
@@JA-qs7jm not hyper. Just the 3a soft body armor.
John Wick suit material
i’d like to see what it would stop when put in a carrier with their lllA+ soft armor
I bet it would stop 30-06 AP black tip... even though it's not rated for it.
@@calholli No way.
If you put it under a carrier with lv 3 plates it would probably stop most anything under 50 BMG and 338 Lapua.
@@snek9353 meh.. I thought he said level 3+ .. lol... I take it back.
@@ShizawnSanders Nope

@@SafeLifeDefenseBodyArmor I'm picturing some hilarious images of a guy with self-made armor.
Mike, Illinois is going to try and ban this stuff, I'm buying before they do, just for use at the range. I assume you say thumbs up, and that's good enough for me. Thanks, will use your link unless I can find a deeper discount. I'm old and on a budget. Hope you're well buddy.Edit to add, if it passes, we will be grandfathered, as long as we owned it prior to it becoming law. Then, we have to file with the State Police at the 6 month mar notifying them that we own it. LOL, why I still live in Illinois is beyond me. It's quickly becoming the ugly, cold version of Cali. Sad times
This is an ideal design for states with body armor bans. It's the only kind you can actually wear and you'll never get busted as long as you don't start shit that brings LE involvement.
Thank You !!!
would it make a difference if the vest was tight on a torso and couldnt have as much give as being leaned up against a dirt box?
No
a vest needs to protect from the collar bone to the bottom of the Naval ... to small and leave a high probability of chest wounds ..
If U Knew How To Properly Use Too Compared To Using To Correctly I Might Listen To U.... & U Is The Same As You 🤡's
What level 4 armor would you recommend for placing in backpack for school that is affordable but good quality?
RMA is good and reasonable IMO. The problem with Level IV is that it's damn heavy at 8 plus pounds. That's a lot for smaller children especially on top of the other stuff they pack. That plate alone maxes out or approaches the limit for the healthy weight allowance for an 80-pound kid.
The other problem with ceramic plates and kids is their habit of throwing their backpack on the ground carelessly. Now ceramic plates are nowhere near as delicate as some people make them out to be, but repeated drops on hard tile or concrete is not cool and sooner or later will compromise the plate's integrity.
Personally if I were to get rifle plates for a kid's pack, I'd go with UHMWPE. Around 3 pounds a plate, very durable. The tradeoff is that they aren't the best at stopping green tip 5.56, but I don't know that a lot of school shooters go to that length, and really the chance of being able to maneuver a backpack in such a crisis is kinda iffy anyway. To my mind, imperfect protection that you can actually carry consistently is better than a heavy brick you leave at home after day two of carrying the bastard around.
So for all the people who were saying that: "Sub sonic 300blk is actually just the same as .45acp" ---- Umm... No, you're obviously wrong.
Yup
They may be similar in energy, but a 300 blk is a smaller diameter compared to 45 acp, meaning the energy is going to be focused on a smaller area, meaning more penetration capability.
It may stop the projectile but the energy transfer would SUCK !!!! That’s what would concern me the most ... but with a plate installed that would probably be better
That's an issue with ALL soft armor.
The BFD ratings are actually fantastic and are well inside the NIJ safe zone. There’s no compromises with Hyperline!
You would think Safelife would place the weight of their armor on their website. No can do!
