I've got some questions about this that I've always wondered because I have the same one..... 1. Isn't that opening on the side bad and can let hot air from the engine compartment in or is it minimal and not really matter? 2. Does anyone recommend anything to cover the hole? 3. How can I tell it's actually doing it's job and not just sucking in hot air? 4. Does anyone know if it's actually a good seal when the hood is closed? I can never tell. I can't tell if there's a gap between the underneath of the hood to the top of the air box. 4. Is there a way to better insulate everything? Like some sort of thermal insulation tape around the pipe or adding some of that reflective thermal stuff to the outside of the box or the inside? Or maybe spraying some thermal paint or something? I'm a complete noob.

I was reading on the installment instructions for the K&N that it could give you a anti-theft code to put in on the radio in some vehicles. I was curious did you get one?
I have a 2016 premier idk if it would be as loud as urs with the different engines (2.0vs1.5) and also can you hear the blow off valve any better? And lastly when ur in the car driving do you hear it well?
I used the Green Hose disconnects you can get them at harbor Freight insert the toll in the hose push down on the hose and up on the tool, there is little prongs that hold it in place.
It got rid of the baffles, so you can hear the Turbo more and to me it increased the fuel mileage. I was also running high test fuel. which is recommended in high out/ turbo vehicles

The only things I’ve done so far is put in aftermarket tail lamps and led headlights/ license plate lights. What else are you doing/ did to your Malibu??

I was thinking about doing the same thing to my 17 2.0 putting in the AME cold air intake. But after checking online with the Malibu fourm I found out that GM has a small OEM catch can somewhere between the stock air box or air tube, by removing them you are also removing the small stock OEM catch can.
There is a small box attached to the front of the original intake tube where it mounts to the intake side of the turbo. This is what the PCV valve attaches to. Chevrolet doesn't alert you to this but it should be cleaned out at least once a year. The AME cold air intake deletes that catch can so yes, you definitely needed to add an aftermarket catch can at the least, unless you want oil and water being reintroduced into the intake.

@@Sulz Right before the crank case vent goes into the intake hose on the front side of the motor, you need to cut and divert the hose coming from the crank case vent to the catch can inlet, then return from the catch can outlet to the hose going to intake the same intake hose.
I have gotten 52 mpg with this on there, (factory spark plugs) was also freeway and loaded to max GVWR on a 4 hour drive. Also average 36 to 40 mpg everyday driving.
AEM had the best on plug and play cold air intakes, I dont remember the cost then. Do you have to go with a CAI no but I wanted to hear that turbo all the time not just every now and then.
I couldn't get it off for the life of me so I decided it be a good time to change the headlights to LEDs so I fucking stupidly started the car without the air flow sensor plugged in and the check engine light came on and the rad fans wouldn't turn off So I got 0 things done and gave myself a trip to the dealership I'm sure hope the light goes away on it's own just find it strange that the rad fans wouldn't go off when I turned the vehicle off
@@psyhostrack2026 you have high beam. The projector is a dual beam, single filiment bulb. The projector has a shutter inside that gives high or low beam.

Stella Bella I put it on because it was easier to swap out than a blow off valve and cost about the same I wanted to hear the turbo I could hardly hear it an it annoyed me now I can hear it spool all the time. There is baffles in the air box that prevents the spooling noise. Manufacturers make them as quite as possible. It looks good and sounds good that’s why I bought it
Also it may or may not void warranty no one really knows for sure if it does! I take mine off if I have to take it in for problems it’s only been in twice.

TheRenegadeBad_Dog I was going to go with K&N but it didn’t have the right finning on it for the purge valve so I went with the AEM

Your gonna gain maybe 1 or 2, really it's not gonna add much for perfaomce just looks better under the hood and definitely sounds better

If it’s turbo you will love it, if is naturally aspirated it will still sound good but know where near a turbocharger

No issues with the intake, or the car has about 80k on in and still original, except tires and intake

@@seangowan7441 have to puck on connector insert tool then pull up on both. works on fuel lines too
Maybe sand down the inside of the tool at an angle with some sand paper to make it easier to release the tabs inside of the pcv fitting.

on my car in interfered with the hood from closing properly, raised the hood 1/2 inch

Robert Jakicic you can put your own catch can on your vehicle if necessary but I want to say the one I bought was for both 1.5 and 2.0

Why do u have a light bar
Well if you have a Malibu you know that you don’t truly have high beams so the light bar is the high beam
