Duotone Unit 2025 Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- Watch my in-depth review of the 2025 Duotone Unit, where I compare two cutting-edge wings - the 6.5m SLS wing and the 4m Dacron wing - against last year’s 2024 model. In this video, I break down:
Design & Construction: Discover how the SLS wing’s Penta TX/aluula leading edge offers superior strength and stiffness, while the all-Dacron wing delivers a cost-effective, balanced alternative.
Performance & Handling: See detailed on-water testing that covers low-end pumping, stability in gusts, and responsiveness during jibes and tacks.
Comparative Analysis: Learn the key differences between the 2025 and 2024 wings, and find out which wing remains my personal choice for consistent, beginner-friendly performance.
Whether you’re into hydrofoiling, kite surfing, or just love cutting-edge wing technology, this review offers all the insights you need!

The two other topics that are discussed with my Wingfoiling mates about different wing models are forward pull and pointing capabilities. I think that they are important qualities. I love your no nonsense review style. Thanks.
Would be interesting to hear your opinion on PPC M1-X
@@SUPSUNRU it's not that easy of a wing for me to test as they are not stocked by the local retailers
@@Wing-Tips, Hey Ash, I am happy to send you a PPC M1-X wing. Hit me up and let’s get it sorted. I’m the UK importer for PPC
Take a look at the vayu aura v3 🙂
Amazing Wing 👍
The 2024 dlab is amazing it disappears during transitions and then re-appears when you need it allowing you to be more connected with your foil and master advanced wing tricks. Looks like I"ll fly my 24 dlabs another season, such a shame they designed towards the lowest common denominator.
@Gonewinging yeah, loved the 2024 wing, it's such a strange choice given their new wing, the Float, is a dedicated wave wing.
Thanks for another great video test. Of all the wings you've tried whixh do you think fulfills the role best as a light wind wing ie loads of grunt size for size eg a 5-6m...I guess a dlab unit?
I see they are selling 2024 for 30% off so maybe now is a good time...not sure if Dacron version will be aa good?
The stiffness of the aluula wings has never made me feel like they have a better low end. They have a different feel to them, lighter and due to leading edge diameters they can also be a little faster on the top end. Personally although I've tested D/Lab wings I've always bought the dacron version as the depreciation on aluula wings is massive. I change some of my wings every year and for the advantage d/lab gives I'm just not prepared to take the hit, the dacron wings are more than good enough. My light wind wing is a 6.5m Unit and has been ever since I sold my 8m F-One Strike CWC. I previously has the 2023 version and now I have the 2025 SLS. I will likely keep the SLS as it is light and has good low end to get me going in around 7 knots upwards. I'm not a fan of massive wings like 7m and 8m, much better to get a light wind board and use a smaller 6m or 6.5m - much more fun and you get way more use out of a light wind board than a light wind wing.
Arent your videos great?
I demoed a 5.5 normal unit and waiting for a good condition day to demo the 5.5 SLS... Lightness is key it being gruntier will make it better to get up on foil.
Replacing my V3 strike becuase it not being grunty but love the lightess.
So technically I am leaned towards the SLS (mainly due to lighter)
But optic wise the bright colours are nice too.
Is it worth the the almost 300gr lighter and 300 euros cheaper?
Probably yes. What do you think?
if lightness is what you want then the SLS version is a cheap price to pay compared to the aluula alternative. But only you can be a judge of whether you feel that is value for money for you.
