A lot of the same cars we still see in HC today, haha. If the title didn't say "2006," half the viewers would probably think it was more recent. Don't make them like they used to.
@@PapaTroll86 The image quality might be another clue we´d say ;) There are some similarities but there are some very marked (and iconic) differences..

As much as I enjoy the relative ease to getting monster 1000+hp cars on the regular, this era of modest power and 'old school' chassis is a wonder in time when less truly was more. Thank you for the opportunity to relive a snapshot in time.
Jorg Weidinger in an E36, now runs a Z4 GT3. Dan Michl in a Skoda Octavia Kit Car, now runs a crazy Hayabusa V8 Elise. Bruno Ianniello already reppin' the crazy Delta S4. Roger Kissling doesn't _specifically_ ring a bell, but people who love Opel race cars likely know who Kissling Motorsport are, and that surname cannot be a coincidence. And who else to act as the closest challenger to the legendary Georg Plasa in this competition but the one and only Reto Meisel. Lotta names I recognize from the modern-day scene in this video.
Starting 2025. with a blast from the past, which i very much appreciate.Looking at it and what is now made me realise just how much further the sport evolved and am very glad for that. Enjoying and loving what’s now while admiring and respecting the past.Thank you for this.
Bruh this is crazy because I remember watching these hillclimb videos as I child and teenager. Now I'm 30. Back then the footage was clear and the sound was beyond anything you could EVER POSSIBLY IMAGINE hearing on mainstream tv. The sound was completely raw and unadulterated. So you really got to hear these machines go full tilt. The level of immersion from on-board and helmet cams coupled with the raw gtit and emotion of a dogbox gearbox and chassis crashing sounds made watching these videos as a kid an was a visceral experience. It was heaven...it was top content. Now all years these later it has aged... but beautifully. Although they had humble beginning you could see their unmatched passion from the very beginning. It looked semi professional and back then it was absolutely top notch footage along with all the other private racing channels. We're a massive collective archive of European automotive racing history 🎉🎉🎉 Now thing's are so high fidelity that the sound of ignition cut engaging through corner entry and corner exit is beyond satisfying to hear. The bangs that are produced from it are intoxicating to hear. These channels captured the true and unadulterated form of automotive racing. European hillclimb racing is the best form of racing in the world and I will die on that hill. Not to mention these cars have come soooooooo far. The vehicles we have now are such monster's and diverse they're practically high tech and modern road going versions of group b rally cars with a bit of pikes peak influencee. I've always wanted it as a kid and it's finally here. Life is good man.😂
Well, we guess the decision we made a week ago to go ahead and start publishing these Classic Top 10/15 Monsters videos from now on, was a good one after all :) Much appreciated the enthusiasm!
F355 has nice raw sound. Those S4:s are super rare nowadays and twincharging gives unique combination of turbo and mechanical "whine". Then the 935 with awesome turbo flat6. But come on, induction sound of those Judd V8 monsters are just another planet. Absolutely ridiculous.
I remember these videos well, they were my passion together with Swedish ghost rider and Gigi Galli. I have always dreamed of owning an e36 like the one from Plasa and in 2016 I bought a 328 which I still use.
I would imagine most of them would still be going in some form or another because they were all collectable cars, the ones which aren't will mostly come down to being written off in crashes or in a dusty garage somewhere but still salvageable.
There is not much more to say about the brilliance of the household names like Plasa, Meisel, Yannielo, Michl,... These were the times. But I really love that Porsche 935. It looks like it is a Kremer model. Do you have any additional info on this beauty? Did it race the World sportscar championship?
Following the Sport, for sure. Probably way longer than you can imagine too... But Filming, not so long ;) The footage was provided by a very generous collaborator and all edited by us ;)
This is a great production , thanks.....What I cant get my head round , cars with 300hp plus ( E30 m3 ) can be 6 seconds quicker than a 550hp machine ( Delta s4 )....And even heavier , lower power cars are still quicker than lighter more powerful machines , which rules out power / weight.....Very interesting.
Driver skill plays a huge role of course, but I think especially in the case of the S4, those group B Rallye cars were (and probably are) notoriously hard to control.
@@rogerpayne5336 yeah chassis plays a big role here. That's why you'll often see Porsche or Mitsubishi Lancer based beasts on top despite its characteristics be worse on paper
looks like Delta S4 at this clip had huge engine problems, probably oil leak from a turbocharger or coolant leak which leads to overheating, Anyways, you can see it with that grey-white smoke, especially close to the end. Ironically, S4's owner, Bruno, only started to understand this tricky monster during those years, but had better personal capability back then because of his younger age. He won some of hillclimbs championships in later years. Delta S4 (with modern tyres and shock-absorbers and upgraded brakes) have astonishing amount of grip and still capable to give proper battle with most high-tech nowadays machines. It only need one and vital thing: proper and skillful asphalt specialist pilot or top rally driver (what we didnt seen yet in last decades).

Now 2006 feels like 90s, damn
2010 was 15 years ago. 1991 was 15 years from 2006. Which 15 years changed more?
Because the late 80's and 90's still have the best vehicle platforms.
Thank you for preserving history. This was exactly the timeframe I got into European hill climbing, at 16. RIP Georg Plasa.

those Lancia Delta S4 are crazy fast just look at those launches

Georg Plasa is sorely missed....

Thanks georg ❤
How was that skoda so light 😅 Few of the judd e36 shots are legendary
I reckon the main difference between now and then is tyres. Would love to see that 190 make a rip today

Was there some issue with Bruno's Delta ? Not only we've seen smoke but i would expect better time from him.
