Good idea with the speed trap - gives another dimension. Can see which cars don’t have the straight line speed comparatively but must have picked up a lot in the corners and braking, etc. On a side-note, that Porsche bi-turbo looks fun to drive

That's an EA888 inside. It makes sense to actually get the 888 and stick it into a light chassis - mk2 for example. Much lighter than the newest Golf GTIs for sure. Result = rocket.
I was literally just about to ask why the RS3 doesn't have quattro? I'm guessing because FWD makes the car lighter? But then it also loses some of it's handling. I don't know.
This one was about chassis, braking and bravery. The top guys went past the speed gun upwards of 210kph... including that TCR Hyundai...OMG!!! Is that guy aware of his brake pedal???
While it's not super ideal, it is impressive that some of these chassis are so tight that they pick up the inside wheel on every corner. The Audi in particular was three wheeling half the course!
It's crazy how the weight and power ratio in this race doesn't matter, since cars with 500 horsepower and 1000 kilos have a better time than cars with 800 horsepower and 700 kilos, this event is insane
Most heavier cars have a bigger engine, have more power and torque lower in the rev range. They have a much broader power band. Lighter cars usually have smaller engines. The high horsepower ones usually have a very small power band, high in the rev range. They maybe lighter and have more power but it's harder to harness that power.
Driving to the limit on an hillclimb like Ilirska is quite challenging and driver mod becomes crucial. And yeah, an agile chassis capable of putting all power down also gives an advantage here...

Downforce and brake setup differs hugely. But yeah it defies physics!

Tire size matters, notice how the 550 bhp had a much wider track and tire size.
